    Simply Incredible
We did a private day tour to Corcovado National Park. Steven was great and prompt from the word go. He gave us Gustavo as our guide since Steven was with overnight group. It turned out our one of the best wildlife experiences. Can't thank enough to Gustavo. He was out there to give us the best experience and always went out of his way. He was too good to spot animals and birds. We saw tapirs, 3 types of monkeys, peckaries, sloth, anteater, toucans, scarlet macaws, woodpeckers, three different types of turkeys. On top of it, we saw Barba Amarilla (Fer de lance). It was on eof the best tours we had. Can't praise and than enpugh to Gustavo and Steven,

    Amazing experience and amazing guide
In December 2022, we went an a 3 day tour (Sirena & San Pedrillo/Corcovado backyard) with Steve / Osa Outdoors as our guide. These 3 days were, without doubt, the highlight of our 1 month trip to Costa Rica. The park is simply beautifull with an abundance of wildlife, diversity of nature and cool trails. Both overnights are comfortable and meals are very good. But the most important part of this experience was that the guide Steve is nice guy, knowledgeable and very passionated about the wildlife, nature, how both interact with each other and what our role is in nature. I would really recommend booking your trip with Steve/Osa outdoors.

Steven could be good if he shown up
Based on all the wonderful reviews we read about Steven from Osa Outdoors Adventures, we made an arrangement for a one day Corcovado tour that was supposed to take place in April, and the arrangement was made in early Feb.. Steven was very flexible, I was slightly surprised he didn't take any deposit which is quite untypical for Costa Rica. We came to Drake Bay to spend 2.5 days, were texting Steven up until last evening before the tour, and came to Rancho Corcovado Lodge at 6 am as he said - just to find out that Steven DIDN'T SHOW UP!! We were looking for "Steven" like idiots, no result.. We couldn't believe it, he didn't respond to texts anymore.. We came again the next morning and found that all the tours for the day were booked up and we couldn't go. Only in the evening the next day Steven texted that "sorry he was in the jungle with a night tour and couldn't respond"... So, we couldn't make it at all as it was all booked and we needed to leave the next day. Our advice: stay away from Osa Outdoors Adventures Steven if you don't want to end up without having the tour you came to this remote area for.

Corcovado - San Pedrillo half day tour
Our group of 16 people were on tour in Corcovado National Park (San Pedrillo Ranger Station) with Steven. He was very kind and expertly guided us through the jungle. We are satisfied with his service and recommend him as a guide.

Incredible 2 day experience in Sirena
I had an incredible experience hiking Sirena with my guide, Steven Madi. Steven's knowledge of the flora and fauna of Corcovado is mind blowing. Every question you have about any bird, mammal, insect, plant, or fungus you encounter will be met with a detailed answer that helps you gain a deeper understanding of the intricacies of the forest. Steven imitates the calls of birds and monkeys to attract them to you so that you'll have a breathtakingly close encounter. He knows how to read animal footprints in the mud and even smell the air for signs of peccaries and monkeys. He spots highly camouflaged animals that I never would have seen with the naked eye, and he leads you into the brush to gain an even closer look. At one point, I found myself less than 3 feet away from a peaceful tapir--what an experience! I noticed that Steven was often just as excited as I was to spot wildlife that he sees every single day, and I realized this is because of the deep respect for animals and passion that he has for his work as a guide. Steven himself is an extremely kind, patient, and professional guide. He has a calming presence, which I felt was important in a wild place like Sirena where it's common to feel nervous about what you might encounter. I thoroughly enjoyed spending 2 days hiking with Steven and came away from the experience with a deep respect for the wildlife of Corcovado. I highly recommend Steven as a guide and know that when I return to Corcovado (and I absolutely will!) I will without a doubt make sure I hire Steven as my guide again. Side note: if you are looking to practice your Spanish, Steven will oblige! I told him I wanted to work on my Spanish and he went out of his way to tell me all the names of plants and animals in both English and Spanish, as well as their scientific Latin names, and even when they evolved and what they evolved from. His breadth of knowledge is genuinely amazing.

    An unforgettable day
Steven is a very nice guy and I am sure also a great guide. But I didn't go with him but with his colleague Donny, and what can I say? It was an amazing experience and Donny showed and explained a lot! He has a very good knowledge about the nature in Corcovado and sees things/animals where you wouldn't even consider looking at. I can 100% recommend these guys! Thanks a lot for an unforgettable day! Tariq

    Excellent trip
We had a morning's trip to Corcovado national park with Steven Madi. Steven met us at our hotel and then accompanied us to the boat with other guests from our hotel. We picked up two others and then went to the San Pedrillo station. We first walked east from the station with Steven patiently and diligently permanently looking out for wildlife, fauna and birds to point out to you. Any questions are answered politely and fully. We then walked back to the station for a drink and a snack and then to the waterfall and back. There were lots of spotting opportunities on this route too. Steven took us to the waterfall and then we stopped for a dip in what must be the most refreshing water ever. Back then to the station for lunch which Steven prepares for you. A brilliant morning made even better by Steven. Thoroughly recommended.

Wonderful wildlife and knowledgeable guide made trip to Corcovado amazing - Photographers take note!
My wife and I stayed four nights on the Osa Penninsula at Aguila de Osa Inn (see separate review of this great place) and one of the days was a tour of Corcovado National Park, Sirena Ranger Station. Steven was our guide for that trip and although the wildlife we saw was fantastic, Steven's information and knowledge to find it and about it made the trip even more amazing. The trip to the park was via a 1+ hour boat ride from our lodging to the station. The ride, while taking a while, was also great and on the way there and back we got to see dolphins and jumping Devil Rays! Sooooo cool. The boat captain and crew looked out for the wildlife and gave us time, especially coming back, to stop and take pictures and just enjoy it. Including the boat rides back and forth, this tour time was about 5 hours. When we got to the station, it is a wet landing. This part of Costa Rica is more wild and that means you need to be prepared and be mobile enough to get on and off the boats but the captains and crew handle this great. You just should have the right footwear and understand the situation. As long as you are mobile and comfortable, no problem. Our tour were people ranging from their 50s to 70, all in different shapes, and everyone did fine. Also, remember that you are in a tropical rain forest so prepare to sweat. No avoiding that.... Once we got in the park, the walk around is flat and you just take your time to see all the park has to offer. We saw coati, howler monkeys, capuchin, spider monkeys, tons of birds and, a big win, a tapir. Probably other things I'm forgetting but it was wildlife rich. Some of the animals were just there but much of it was because Steven knew where to look or knew what to look for. He and other guides worked together so everyone got to enjoy the amazing sights. There was one bird that was soooo well camouflaged that even when we were looking directly at it, we did not know it was a bird until he told us what to look for. He was able to explain about the wildlife throughout so it wasn't just about seeing it. It was also about learning about it. He answered questions easily, owned up if he didn't know something but checked with colleagues to see if they knew and was a genuinely nice guy throughout. He made the trip very informative and pleasurable. We would absolutely recommend him for a trip to Corcovado and highly recommend getting to the park. Especially if you are a photographer, as I am. I shot a lot of photos while there. The tour was one of our favorites during 2.5 wonderful weeks in Costa Rica.

    Cocovado National Park (La Sirena)
We had Steven as our guide and he was brilliant. Started with an hours boat trip to the national park with a wet landing. Steven helped us through it and we started our wonderful excursion. Steven was a very attentive guide and knowledgeable. We saw so many animals with his help, highlights being the Tapir, Spider Monkey, Squirrel Monkey, Sloth, Trogon, Peccary, Coati, Quetzal and many more. Steven took his time explaining about the fauna and the various species present. We had a pleasant and filling lunch and when back on the boat we enjoyed cold watermelon and pineapple - much needed due to the heat. We would thoroughly recomend Steven and this tour company

    Sirena hike
Great excursion to Corcovado national park from drake bay. You go with a high speed boat for 1 hour across the sea to the entrance of the National Park. Then the hike starts and Steven spots the animals very easily and also knows everything about them! Very much recommended!

Lots of photo opportunities. Guide was good at pointing them out. Lunch was pretty average but that was about what I expected.

    Perfect!
We stayed in Drake Bay for 9 days and booked some tours with Osa Outdoors Adventures in advance. Good communication before and during our stay in Drake Bay. Besides that, Steven is an excellent guide with a great knowledge about everything. We had a great time and learned a lot about the Costa Rican nature.

Fantastic Guide Steven Masis--Sirena One Day, San Pedrillo 2 day overnight
My son and I spent 3 days with Steven this past December as we did a 2 day overnight at San Pedrillo station (hiking in and out from/to Jungle Jaquar hostel) and a 1 day trip to Sirena Station. Steven has an incredible knowledge of all the plants, birds (i think he communicated with all of them through his bird calls) and animals. He also is just a very nice person to be around...always with a quick smile and chuckle!! He is a very high energy guy and thus we were able to see many animals and experience the rainforest simultaneously. He put together a 2.5 minute video of our trip which i will treasure always!! Highly recommend Steven!!
