Fun way to see the Salt River
Jenna was a great guide! Very knowledgeable about the area and shared interesting information. We were bummed not to see any wild horses but obviously not their fault. Leisurely ride with a few small rapids that require a bit more paddling.

      Superstition Mountains Overnight Adventure
I booked one of the multi-day overnight hikes through REI Adventures...and it was INCREDIBLE! I highly recommend REI trips. This was very well organized--including a tutorial on the area, most necessary supplies, including the tent, and some incredible food! Our guides were super experienced and were able to lead us on a path that us novice desert hikers would never have been able to navigate alone! I did this trip solo, which was great because everyone was friends by the end of the 3-day hike. HIGHLIGHTS: Sleeping under the stars. Eating delicious food! Finding hidden petroglyphs. Getting stuck by every cactus along the way. Learning new hiking skills. Making new friends. DETRACTORS: None.

      A must do in Scottsdale
Booked this tour for myself and two teenage daughters. So glad we did. Denny, our guide for the day, made the 4 mile hike (2 miles each way) so enjoyable with his knowledge of the area, plants and history. Much more fun than doing it on our own. And he carried all the water and snacks which was a plus and much appreciated.

      Good time
Our group of 3 enjoyed the half day e-bike tour of the N Scottsdale’s greenway. We had a great time at our own pace with Bill leading the way and sharing local knowledge. I even saw a bobcat!

It seems REI's great return/exchange policy has changed. I'll no longer shop at REI.
It pains me to write this, but I'll no longer shop at REI nor recommend it. I have been a loyal customer of REI for years, for mostly one reason: their return/exchange policy. If their gear didn't hold up, you took it back and it was replaced. That is no longer true. I paid $100 for a compact camp chair. I owned it for three years, but only used it a few times. I took it out this week, and it ripped in two places, and the stitching came apart. I did as always, took it back to have it replaced. I was told that for most anything you buy at REI now, they won't back it for more than one year. Seriously? For the premium prices you pay for REI gear, I was only willing to shop there because of their great return/exchange policy. So I won't be shopping at REI any more. I can get my outdoor gear elsewhere cheaper. Bye Bye, REI. You took away my reason for buying your expensive gear.

      Great road bike experience
We did the half day road bike tour with Ed Rowe and just loved it. We went through a large part of Scottsdale and really had a chance to see this beautiful town. Ed is a tremendous guide and has a wealth of knowledge about the Scottsdale area. We highly recommend it!

      Recommended Hike
We truly enjoyed our hike through this beautiful urban nature preserve. Armando led our group, accompanied by Patrick. Both were accommodating to our various fitness levels and made sure the hike worked for everyone. We appreciated the knowledge they shared along the way. The snacks were a great bonus for keeping the kids motivated.

Hassle free bike rental for mountain bike ride in the Senoran Desert
While visiting Scottsdale on January 17, 2022 I wanted to do a few hour bike ride on a trail in the desert. I called REI Co-op Adventure and Joe said he could rent me a mountain bike and tell me where to ride nearby. I went to the shop where he fitted me with a very good mountain bike and told me to go to the Brown's Ranch Trailhead to access bike paths in the Senoran desert. This worked out great. I put the bike in the back of my rented small SUV and drove the short distance to the park which had the trails in the desert. There a very nice volunteer steward asked my my skill level and gave me a map showing a trail suitable to my skill level and time/energy request. This worked out perfectly! The bike was great, the trail ride was great. The bike rental was for 4 hours but after a one hour ride I was delightfully tired. I returned the bike to the shop totally satisfied. The whole experience was hassle free and at a very reasonable price! I highly recommend using this place for your Phoenix mountain bike rental needs.

      Lower salt river
Was a wonderful experience floating the Lower Salt river. The weather turned out great, our guide was very informative and fun. We saw the beautiful sights of the desert and I bet 75 - 100 horses eating and playing in the river and on the rive banks, awesome.

Gentle “float” down the Salt River (not strenuous)
We had a great time on our Salt River rafting trip. Noel was a terrific guide, as was Jake, who was in training that day. We saw many beautiful wild horses along the way, which greatly enhanced our experience. We stopped along the way so that my son could jump into the water from “the rock,” which he loved! Noel was very engaging with both of our kids, which helped make it more fun for them. Highly recommend!!! There wasn’t any real opportunity for swimming, but I think we probably could have gotten in the water at any time if we’d asked, but we didn’t and neither did anyone else from our raft. Not complaining, but I think my daughter probably would’ve enjoyed a dip if we had thought of it.

We had a group of three sisters, with our husbands and kids, for a total of 12 people. REI brought bikes & helmets for all of us in the correct sizes to Browns Ranch. They made sure to sanitize everything, and explained the gears, in case anyone was unfamiliar with them. They gave us suggestions for appropriate trails, and sent us on our way. The trails were beautiful, challenging, and fun for all, with cool places to stop and climb around! All we had to do when we finished was drop off the gear to the guys in the parking lot at the same meeting spot. I highly recommend this service if you are traveling and want a fun, no-hassle experience!

Jim was our guide. He was very knowledgable of desert plants and history. We did a beginner mountain bike tour. Jim seemed to adjust the level as we felt comfortable. The desert was beautiful. The bike ride was challenging. The trails were awesome. We had a range of ages 17, 22 and 55. We all loved it. We highly recommend it.

Had a great ride with Phil Richard’s as my guide. He provided a friendly and professional experience tailored to my comfort level and was a great ride partner as well. I’ve done more single track on packed dirt than loose Sonoran desert sand so his advice kept me wheels down and right-side up

I was very disappointed in this tour. I am a mountain biker with 35 years of experience. I am not fast but have good skills. I went with a group of 25 during a company meeting. We had 3 guides between us. We set off at the pace of the fastest. Some of us could not keep up. We were sent back to the van to wait for the others for over two hours. This was disappointing. There should have been a slower group, and we should not have set off up a hill at the pace of the young fit guys.

I was doubly disappointed as I have done REI adventures near my home in MA, and they have always been informative and at a perfect level for a mixed group. I was so surprised that I had to double check the company was really REI, but it definitely was as there was an REI logo on the release form.

I was hoping to do a private tour with REI on another trip, but I am glad I did not. I do not recommend at all unless young and super fit.

I give 2 stars rather than 1 as the bike (a Specialized hard tail) was in good condition.

Very patient, attentive and helpful customer service while trying to set up bike rentals while we were vacationing in Arizona. Answered every question quickly, and in excellent detail. Had very good ongoing communications about our reservation. They offered trailhead delivery service to Brown's Ranch trailhead in Scottsdale, which worked out great since our rental car couldn't accommodate the right kind of bike rack to transport the bikes we rented.

We even got a call from them the morning of our rental, letting us know where their delivery vehicles were parked at the trailhead.

The bikes were in great shape. Had a great time riding in the desert-type terrain... no problems at all with the bikes.

Very friendly and low-key staff, which made the whole ride a very enjoyable experience.
