About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- georgim4100 contributionsA Spectacularly Grand TourA most memorable day out visiting some of the most spectacular sights we've ever seen. Our driver Mark Lane, picked us up from our hotel in Scottsdale at 6.30am in a very comfortable van, and our small group travelled north towards the Grand Canyon. There were plentiful rest room stops along the way. We arrived at the Grand Canyon geology museum at 10.30, with a 20 min stop to view the canyon and check out the museum. We then picked up a quick lunch in the Village, then were dropped off at the small airport for our helicopter (not included in the tour), and I highly recommend doing this as well. Afterwards we had around 45mins to walk around the Village, before heading through Oak Creek Canyon (a windy road, but only 20mins or so), and into the picturesque Sedona for afternoon tea and admire the sun lighting up the red rocks to great effect. A quick sightseeing stop at Bell Rock, then back to Scottsdale, arriving at our hotel at a little after 7pm. A huge day, but Mark made it so enjoyable, with interesting facts about the canyon and Arizona. If you only have a few days in the area, then this tour should be at the top of your list.Written January 14, 2025
- J9450VP0 contributionsGreat experience! This was an excellent trip to the Grand Canyon and Sedona! With frequent opportunities for rest breaks and snack purchases along with fantastic views out of the enormous windows of the van, the traveling was excellent. Traveling solo, I wasn’t sure what to expect spending the day with strangers. As it turned out, our group of 11 was so much fun and added to the great experience. Our tour guide Mark was friendly, knowledgeable, and so accommodating! All in all, a spectacular day!Written January 13, 2025
- deiesoc0 contributionsGreat tripI don’t usually do solo tours but I really wanted to see the Grand Canyon. The trip was amazing. Our guide handled everything and went out of his way to make sure everyone was having a great time.Written January 12, 2025
- 516Chase0 contributionsA Trip to Grand Canyon you will NEVER forget🏜Our guide Han was simply the best. Very knowledgable and entertaining. Even the ride over was an experience. The way he presented the grand reveal of the Canyon was incredibly memorable. I actually cried with joy and amazement! His kindness, knowledge and creativity made for an excellent trip we will never forget. He called 10 minutes prior to our pick up time. Very punctual and professional, while also having a great sense of humor. Sedona was gorgeous too. The town is so bursting with character and things to do, see and eat. For great photos - go behind the shops on ground level in order to get photos of the red rocks without cars in view. Thanks Han for the best experience!!! - 🏜The Kiernan FamilyWritten January 11, 2025
- tonisD6970PH0 contributionsThey made it so easyWe booked a private tour of Sedona from Phoenix. Our tour guide Mark was awesome and very knowledgeable. We had lots of questions on the area and he was able to answer them all. I highly recommend Detours.Written January 11, 2025
- Sunshine2038060 contributionsInformative and excitingMark was excellent and explained in detail about every site we toured. He was familiar with the route, as well as the history. I would recommend that Mark would be our tour guide on our next visit to Phoenix. Thank you Sir.Written January 9, 2025
- Dina S0 contributionsDetours has the best staff! We booked this as a last minute (i.e. the day before) tour, and the staff at Detours made this the best day! As we made our arrangements, Rachel was extremely helpful as she gave us recommendations and options for helping to plan the day. Our guide Mike was extremely knowledgeable about the history and geology of the Southwest, and gave us a ton of facts and information about the area. He knew that we had already done a similar tour (also with Detours) of the area, so he found lots of unique stops to visit, like Peace Park in Sedona, a copper museum and mine, and a ghost town near Jerome. He took lots of photos of us from interesting angles, so we will have those memories for a long time! We had so much fun and laughed throughout the day.Written January 8, 2025
- Dina230 contributionsDetours is the best!!We were off to a great start when our guide Mark H picked us up at our hotel in Scottsdale a few minutes ahead of our scheduled time. Along the ride to the Grand Canyon, he made sure everyone was comfortable and made a number of stops for the restroom and snacks. He shared lots of interesting facts and trivia about the area and its history. He was informative and entertaining. Of course the Grand Canyon is stunning, and we had ample time to enjoy the park. We drove through gorgeous scenery on the way to Sedona, where we had about an hour on our own. We had time for one last stop at Bell Rock before heading back to Scottsdale.Written January 8, 2025
- U58CCsarahr0 contributionsPlan on returning next time were in AZHad alot of fun going on this tour with my mom, sister and my daughter. I think my daughters favorite part of the tour was when we were on the Dolly Steamboat part of the tour. My favorite part was seeing the different varieties of the cacti and seeing the different varieties of flowers pertaining to each cacti. Eric did a phenomenal job with educating everyone on the plant life in Arizona and letting everyone know the adjustment to the itinerary for the day due to changing weatherWritten January 3, 2025
- jemz19490 contributionsGreat Day Tour to the Grand Canyon with JohnFantastic tour with our guide John made the trip to the Grand Canyon and Sedona so enjoyable. Comfortable (new) vehicle made the trip even better. Thanks to Rachel for her help in setting up our trip!Written January 3, 2025
- laurencD6551BL0 contributions10/10 recommend!Definitely would recommend this tour if you haven’t been to the Grand Canyon or Sedona. Our tour guide Han did an amazing job! Very knowledgeable and had great things to share about each area we passed through. It’s nice to see the sights themselves, but even better when you get to learn about the surrounding areas along the way.Written January 2, 2025

- dawsonmonettep0 contributionsSo Glad We Had this ExperienceMarvelously wonderful adventure. Our guide Jordan is amazing, knowledgeable and attentive. Plenty of free time to explore the Canyon, with Jordan pointing out the best views and trails. The van was stocked with water for us and stopped every hour or so for bathroom and snack breaks. We made new friends with our van-mates, everyone was so friendly. Pro tips: Go on a weekday, if if at all possible, to avoid weekend crowds. Pack snacks and reading material for all the time in the van. It’s a 13-hour day, and worth every minute. We’ll remember this trip for a long long time. Thank you Detours!Written January 1, 2025
- cypmegias0 contributionsWonderful experience! We booked a private tour for our family of five from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon with a stop in Sedona and it was fantastic! We considered renting a car and making the drive back and forth from Phoenix on our own but we are so happy that we decided to book the tour instead. Our tour guide, Mark H, was friendly, polite and a wonderful person. He was incredibly knowledgeable abut all the history and facts, not just about the Grand Canyon but of all the beautiful landscapes we passed along the way. The van was comfortable and spacious and the tour is very well timed. Mark knew exactly which spots would be less crowded and would have the best views. He had great suggestions as far as where to eat and where to grab a drink. We absolutely loved the tour and would 100% recommend it to others.Written December 31, 2024

The scenery exceeded any expectations I had. I went on a no-so-busy day but the company decided to make it happen and they did the tour for just 5 people out of 13. I highly appreciate they contributed to this lifetime experience of mine. The guide was good, I would personally recommend to stay more on the subject and not prologue the narrative with personal (too personal) stories. This distracted me and I mostly went online in order to match what I was seeing with relevant information on local history, facts, economy, etc. But I guess people without too much enthusiasm on social data they get excited by the small talk. Overall I have to admit the service was excellent, our guide drove for almost 9 hours to make that possible, the vehicle was confortable and he was driving really well (i generally have an issue with dangerous driving, this one made me feel reaaaally safe without being too slow), we all fell safe for the entire trip. I would highly recommend this company

Went on the lower canyon tour. Your guide will take around 10 people at a time. They will guide you thru the canyon and explain where you can take the best photos. They will also help with your camera or phone settings, to get the best picture. The guides are very knowledgeable. Be prepared to walk up and down multiple flights of ladders and steps. It's worth it . You will be amazed at the beauty of the antslope canyon. Wear good walking or hiking shoes, it's Rocky and dusty.

Decided to take the tour to antelope canyon and horseshoe bend. Good choice as this company gives flexibility and makes detours and stops along the way to see more sights. The guide had a sense of humor and talks a lot but it made the excursion less boring. The costs include admission to the canyon and bend and also included a lunch. So you only need small pocket change for spending money. Would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Phoenix or Scottsdale. It’s about a 5 hour drive there and a 5 hour drive back so be prepared for a long trip.

Thank you for joining us to the surreal slot canyons of Northern Arizona! We're glad that you enjoyed yourself around good company and great stops. Our guides enjoy the Southwest and like to have fun out there on the road. The day is quote long, but it sounds like our guides were able to make that long day worthwhile and enjoyable for you. :)
We hope that we see you again sometime soon! We've got plenty more Southwest destinations to show off. You got the longest day out of the way!

What we thought was going to be the highlight of our vacation ended up being the low point. We were up at 4:30am ready for a 5:00am departure only to arrive 2 hours early at our destination. Understandably extra travel time needs to be built in BUT they should have a contingency if you are on time as we were. We ended up spending time in a Walmart. When we went back to check in at Antelope Canyon, they canceled all tours for remainder of day due to weather. The most disappointing aspect of this was that i called a few days earlier with weather concerns asking to change our date and was assured that it would be fine. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory at 2:42 that morning. This should be something that is checked before picking up clients. The remainder of the day was just awful. The winds were blowing the sand so hard it physically hurt to get out of the car. See attached photo. The drive back was dangerous and the sights we were driven to were basically a drive by. Out of a 13 hour day, we spent 10 hours in the car. I was hoping a company with such good reviews would stand by their reputation and make their customers happy. I was not asking to be refunded any of the expenses of tour guide, gas etc and was only hoping for a fair refund. What they offered was a token and did not make me feel they cared. I chose this company because they seemed like a small company who truly cared about their customers when in actuality they treat you as a transaction. It shows a lot about a company how they handle things when the day does not go as planned. Please know you are taking a risk when booking these adventures.

Hello Ms. Dulac,
We understand that you did not end up with the experience that you expected. After years of touring Antelope Canyon, the cancellation that you experienced was very difficult to anticipate. Rain and snow are the most common factors for a cancellation, by far. We would never cancel this tour for wind, because in our experience, wind has never been a reason that Antelope Canyon has cancelled their tours. When you called a few days before your tour to inquire about the weather, there were no signs that Antelope could be canceled, or any signs that a windstorm was going to happen, as we pay very close attention to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecasts.
We do thank you for warning us that you would be issuing a negative review if we did not refund enough of your tour price. We did refund more than was required, in the face of this rare wind cancellation.
Thank you,
Management

This trip is a long day but the coach was comfortable and I napped a good part of the drive up to Flagstaff. Our guide was a good source of interesting information on local history, geology, plant life and more. It was a bit longer walk to the Horseshoe Bend overlook than I expected, but not a problem. Antelope Canyon is amazing. A lot of stairs, but the Canyon guide was attentive and helpful and pointed out many things I probably wouldn't have noticed on my own. We had a good lunch at Slackers in Page. On the trip home, I really appreciated the stop at the Cameron Trading Post, which was long enough for all of us to try Indian Fry Bread -- fantastic. To sample so many "out of the way" pieces of Arizona in one day, with someone else making all the arrangements and doing all of the driving, was very very much worth the price.

My wife and I took the one-day Antelope Canyon tour from Scottsdale, AZ in February 2023 and it was fantastic! Although the car ride was long, our guide Derek did a great job at driving (the drive to and from Page isn't a particularly easy one) and kept the tour interesting by talking about the region's history and landscape. He also made sure everyone was comfortable throughout the trip while keeping us on schedule. This included regular washroom breaks and also stops for breakfast and lunch (both included in the price of the tour).
The attractions themselves were amazing. Horseshoe Bend was so beautiful and Derek let us know the best spots for pictures and even took a few for us. Antelope Canyon was even more incredible. The tour inside Lower Antelope Canyon lasted just over an hour and was conducted by Ian, a Navajo tour guide from Dixie's Lower Antelope Canyon Tours. He was a fantastic tour guide. He took the time to tell us about the region’s historical significance and development and answered all of our questions. He also took many incredible photos for us. He knew exactly where to take photos from and which settings to use to get the best results.
This tour was the highlight our trip to Arizona. It was very fun and memorable!

This is one of the three tour groups we joined Detour. We have done:
Sedona Red Rocks and the Grand Canyon. Of the three tours, two were guided by Derek (not sure if he is still within the company). He was an amazing tour guide who was knowledgeable, entertaining and most importantly interested and passionate about being a tour guide. Cannot thank him more than enough. The other guide who was an older gentleman, he was nice but less interested being there and cold.

I can’t say enough positives about this trip! We were picked up at our hotel at 4am, took the 3 hour drive north. Our guide was super friendly and talked most of the way, giving us tons of little history lessons as we drove. We stopped for breakfast in Flagstaff and then continued north. Our stops included Horseshoe bend, Glen Canyon Damn, Upper Antelope canyon (a stop for lunch, which is included in the tour fee) and then the Cameron Trading Post on the Navajo reservation. Each stop was absolutely the perfect amount of time to take photos and take in the beauty of the landscape. I never would have taken this trip if I would have had to drive my family myself, so to me, the cost and the knowledge from our guide made it absolutely worth the cost.

This was a fabulous tour! Our driver Derek was professional, kind, courteous and always went the extra mile for us so that we could have an enjoyable experience.
It was wonderful traveling in a comfortable vehicle and having the opportunity to enjoy the stunning views of lower Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend.
I plan on traveling again with Detours. I highly recommend this tour and company.

1) We want to schedule PRIVATE TOUR either May 7 or May 8...2 adults...what is cost?
2) We want to stay at The W Hotel Scottsdale, do you provide hotel pickup and return?

We we’re at an air bnb and had to walk to the Hilton garden inn. There were a couple of options for pick up in downtown Phoenix. The company would be best to get the current options.

Hi - Does this tour also include the upper antelope canyon?
Written March 4, 2019
Around what time do we usually head back? What do we see along the way? Also no need to apply for permit to enter into Antelope Canyon right?
Written February 23, 2019
We headed back around 6pm so we arrived back in Phoenix around 9:30pm. The Antelope Canyon entrance fee and permit is included in the tour so you don't need to do anything.
