About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- RobK99990 contributionsVery good!Very good boat trip, with excellent views of the Beagle Channel and the lighthouse and some amazing animal sightings (sei whales, sea lions, 1 seal, cormorants, terns and many penguins - Magellanic, Gentoo and 1 king penguin!, 1st March). Book direct with company via WhatsApp to save money. They were mostly good at communicating and changed the day for us at no extra cost when our flight was cancelled. We are glad we chose this instead of the 'walking with Penguins' trip as it we got almost as close (if not as close) to the penguins, we were high up on the boat so we could see them swimming, plus it was much cheaper. The only thing that let the trip down was a lack of information about wildlife spottings in the moment e.g. did not announce whales we saw, later announced whales but did not specify side of the boat so we missed them and did not explain the different types of penguin colony or point out the lone king penguin to everyone. Luckily we've done lots of boat trips so knew what to look out for!Written March 6, 2024
- magassouba0 contributionsPenguins!I am not particularly fond of boats and was worried that this would be boring, but this was the highlight of my trip to Ushuaia. The boat was comfortable with a nice cafe to buy food in (something I didn't think I would do, but did). We saw lots of wildlife including a whale. We pulled right up onto the beach with the penguins and we saw so many of them. It was the most delightful experience watching the penguins up so close. We could even see them swimming in the water because it was so clear. I think I could have stayed and watched the penguins for hours. Understandably, we didn't, but we were given lots of time to enjoy them. The captain of the boat was also very friendly and let people come in and steer and take pictures.Written March 2, 2024
- hbhakh0 contributionsGreat views but longer than expectedThe sights on this tour are amazing, particularly the penguins. The boat was large and stable but a little crowded. We took this trip as a cruise excursion and were told it was a 4 hour tour........it took almost 5 1/2 hrs, which impacted plans we had later in the day. I looked at the company web page and it indicated approx 5 hours.......be aware when you book.Written January 31, 2024

- 200jeffe0 contributionsVery nice boat tour.We did the 5 hour morning boat tour to isla martillo (penguin island) and back including lighthouse and nearby islands. We paid $50US per person reserving day before at their hut. It’s very scenic and despite what some have said I wasn’t disappointed with the wildlife (birds of all sorts including Magellan, gentoo and even a solitary king penguin, see pics.) While we didn’t get off the boat we pulled right up onto the beach and were 15-20 ft from the penguins which is closer than I’ve been to them on land. Very nice assortment of very reasonably priced food and bev to buy (including waiter service) or you can bring your own. About 100 people aboard but very comfortable (get there early for good seat) and the staff was friendly and bilingual guide had great info. This gets cancelled often due to water and wind conditions so plan it in the morning in your first day so you have another chance if it gets cancelled. Warning: it got pretty rough and lots of barfing on the way back so if you get seasick take Dramamine and beware.Written March 20, 2023
- kevinms170 contributionsAn enjoyable boat tripThe boat and trip are both nice, you have a café inside to buy snacks. The tour guide inside tries really hard to give you explanations around the place with a microphone. It is just a pity that out of the more than 10 speakers in the boat, only 1 or 2 are working, making it hard from anyone not sitting right next to him to listen to what he says.Written February 27, 2022
- Overdrive8080 contributions10 penguins very far off and aggressive camera manJust a heads up, you will see very little penguins, and from far away. The guide explained to us after that you can see the penguins in January, and until then they will hibernate, which is why you can't see them. No worries. On the boat there is a cameraman that takes photos and then tries to sell them (the photos are of an amateur quality). He will get aggressive in asking customers to move out of the way so he can try to take photos in the viewing positions. When reminded that the customers have already paid, and it might be a better approach if the boat circled the island so that everyone can see, he will snarl that he no longer speaks English. Give this a miss unless you are there in JanuaryWritten November 24, 2019

- Greenwiz890 contributionsFun to see the penguins! We landed in Ushuaia early in the afternoon and picked up a car went straight to the tourist information center on the waterfront. From there we looked at the various activities and picked this company to go see the penguins on a large catamaran. We were glad we did! The boat was new. The service was great. the experience was awesome. There are a number of smaller stops along the way to see other marine life. You bring your own food and alcohol. Don't worry about seats and you spend a lot of time out on the deck anyway. The catamaran pulls right up to the beach so you are very close to the penguins. Well worth the trip.Written February 14, 2019
- peterbJ2738MM0 contributionsPleasant couple of hours, weather permittingJust the people from our cruise ship were on board so not crowded and we had access to top level. Would not be great if you were stuck in the middle seat on the first level. The crew were pleasant, and very professional. Some good photo ops for bird life as well as sea lions. Brief stop on a small island to take some landscape pictures (rough and rocky path, not good for mobility impaired). Can be rough sailing in strong winds.Written February 11, 2019
- AnneML630 contributionsWell Piloted Boat Tour on Beagle ChannelLike most tourist, I booked a boat tour to sail on the Beagle Channel. The local agent arranged for the tour with Canoero, one of the local service providers. The tour departed with some delay, not the 9:00 am as announced, a bit annoying bearing in mind that one has to turn up at 8:30 to pay the tourist tax at the passenger control centre. The boat was rather comfortable but the experience was a bit spoilt by fellow passengers (including a rather noisy kid) not too interested in the purpose of the visit. The pilot made efforts to manoeuvre the boat well so that everyone would have an opportunity to see the birds or sea lions on the islands in the channel. The commentary was however not very detailed. On the return leg, the hostess signalled sighting a whale, but by the time most of the crowd was out, there was nothing to see (I did not bother as whales tend to disappear for a while after surfacing). There were snacks and drinks on offer on the boat as well as some photo service (I did not avail of the latter). All in all, a great experience to get a glimpse of the Beagle Channel, thanks to the pilot's skills.Written January 5, 2019
- 75tamare0 contributionsNot recommended boat tripWe took a long trip to the islands with canoero company and we didn't enjoy. The boat was too full, was hard to see the nature because all of the people. Wan noisy as well. The forgot to tall us the second floor was vip soo all of us had to squeeze in in the first floor.Written December 24, 2018
- kmbjames10 contributionsTrip down Beagle Channel, seeing sealions, penguins, and Harberton estanciaI wanted to see Harberton Estancia because of the book ’Uttermost Part of the World’ where Thomas Bridges lived as a missionary. Also, I wanted to cruise the Beagle and see penguins. This trip did it all for me. We saw sea lions and the Magellenic penguins. The catamaran can get very close to the animals and spends enough time to enjoy and take photos. They actually beach the boat on the penguin island of Martillo and spend about a half hour there. The penguins are so close....you can watch them peck and swim. Lovely. There is a very informative guide aboard. For those who choose to see the estancia, they are let off for the tour and time ashore for lunch and a bus ride home. This also was the highlight for me. Tour was excellent, lunch or tea on your own, was very good, and the two hour bus ride back showed a different part of Tierra del Fuego. It was an all day trip but fabulous!Written December 21, 2018
- Aimee T0 contributionsWonderful tourThe boat was very clean and modern with a good selection of drinks and snacks (we went in June so a hot chocolate was needed to warm up once back inside). The boat goes along at a steady pace - not too fast - and was steady throughout. English speaking crew members were on board and this is always a nice bonus. Stopping to see the seals was a highlight and enough time was given at the different places of interest before the boat picked up speed again. The visit to the island with it's windswept cabin, Yamana display and stunning scenery provided a chance to have a quick walk around and to take some photos. Overall, and excellent experience and well worth the time and money.Written August 3, 2018
- dixiepeach0 contributionsWe saw whales too!We were fortunate to see two pairs of humpback whales, one pair up close. The guide said that is rare this time of year. We also saw hundred is seals and sea lions. We saw two species of penguins, some albatross and thousands of cormorants. The boat gets close to the islands and repositions itself so both sides get a view. We also pulled up close to the lighthouse. You can go out on deck and up top if you wish. The guide gives a bilingual tour narration. There is a snack shop and toilets on board. You are given a souvenir certificate saying you traversed the Beagle Channel.Written April 10, 2018

We did the Canal Beagle tour in the morning. Excellent experience. The boat has comfortable seating. We sailed to several islands to see the sea lion colonies, the cormorants and the light house. Enough time was spent at each location to get good pictures. There was a short stop for a little scenic walk, which was unexpected and welcome. Good length of trip. Back in Ushuaia in a few hours. Trip was exactly what we wanted.

I had actually reserved a different tour through a third party, but unfortuneately that agency had given us incorrect information. The folks at Canoero Catamarans were very helpful and bent over backwards to get us on another tour that would fit our schedule (we had a time limit).

I couldn't travel and asked to cancel. Oh, surprise. YOU DON'T GET REIMBURSED. Zero seriousness. You travel to Europe and solve inconveniences in the moment. This company is far from it, it runs like a kiosk... sorry, a kiosk runs better.
