Great guide. Worthwhile experience.

Picks you up at your hotel. Note that start time for pickup is only the START time for when the bus starts picking up from the various hotels. You may be the last hotel -- thus they will get to you 40 minutes after the others. Don't panic! Picked us up in a large bus. The guide was very helpful at explaining the wildlife and geology around us as we drove. Spoke english and spanish. When getting to El Chalten, he dropped off most of the guests who just explored the town. DO NOT BE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE. BUY THIS TOUR!! You will really only get a good view/time in El Chalten if you take a full day hike. But please note -- it is a really easy hike if you're young, in shape. But it was still a 18km hike that took 5 hours -- so keep your physical shape/limits in mind. We had lunch at a camp midway through the hike (they also had port-a-potties if you needed to do your business). The day was cloudy -- we did not get to see El Chalten at all, but we still saw the glacier and other mountains. We will have to make a return journey back to Argentina to ty again -- but there are worse things in the world. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Fantastic full day trek in El Chalten
South Road organised an excellent full day trip to El Chalten.

Following prompt pick up from our hotel we travelled the circa 2.5 hours to El Chalten with a short stop enroute. One of the guides gave regular updates on the way as to the scenery and explanations for the Patagonian landscapes. These were full in both Spanish and English.

At El Chalten the groups divided as we went on our 15km trek. We were luckily the only couple and with the guide continued at our pace, regularly stopping for photos.

The landscape was interesting, the views of Fitz Roy spectacular and pace Ok and not requiring super fitness. Our guide - Martin - was fantastic with interesting insights and a good eye for a photo :)

We had a hot lunch that was ok before completing the rest of the trail.

We returned to the bus and headed back to Calafate. It was comfortable enough for us to get some sleep on the way back. I would thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone staying in Calafate wishing to do a good day of trekking in Chalten.

As the title explains, 2 hours of shopping is unacceptable on a one day trekking excursion even if shops are open.
