About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- sneeuverskrik0 contributionsCancelledThe excursion, scheduled for 30 April 2024, didn't take place due to lack of numbers. I'm disappointed, but at least I was advised timeously and refunded promptly. From a traveller's point of view though, it begs the question: given how overcrowded some tours are (e.g Todos Los Glaciares, with a different tour operator), can't operators sometimes take a loss when their overheads aren't covered?Written May 5, 2024
- mirnab8590 contributionsAmazing glacier views! The tour was great. We were brought to the glacier with a couple different viewpoints, and then we had three hours on the boardwalks, partially guided by our guide Nadia, who is phenomenal, and partially on our own. Then we did the boat tour, which was really good too. There was a very cute shop with food and souvenirs. Also that we stopped at. The glacier is breathtaking. Definitely worth a day if you’re in the El Calafate area.Written April 22, 2024
- petealan0 contributionsBig waste of time.I’ll preface this review by saying that the previous day we toured Perito Mareno Glacier, with the tour arranged by the same agency, and it was spectacular. This tour was a big let down. Also let me say we’ve toured the world and have seen many mountains and lakes before, and I’ve skied on glaciers. To begin with, the bus was to pick us up at our hotel at 7:15am (for a 12 hour tour). Being so early we skipped breakfast as we felt we didn’t have time. The driver was then 40 minutes late. When he picked us up, there was no guide on the bus, he just announced our name and we got on. After a couple more hotel stops, one where guests had a ton of luggage, we began to wonder if we were even on the right bus! We asked the driver and he assured us us we were. There was no communication from him at all for the 45 minute ride out to the boat. Since he was obviously running late, he was driving really fast and passing cars to the point that oncoming traffic were flashing their headlights at us. The bus was weaving back and forth and it wasn’t a pleasant ride at all. Once arriving to the Estancia Cristina catamaran we boarded and left the dock, only to return 10 minutes later without explanation. I assume someone forgot something. The boat took us for an hour ride to see a small ice berg floating. After 20 minutes viewing the nice little ice berg where a pro photographer hawked pictures of the passengers, we continued on to see the Glacier from what seemed like a mile away. Really, you would need binoculars to see it properly. Nothing compared to Perito Moreno. For the tour company’s sake, I hope that little ice berg doesn’t melt, as they will have nothing to show the boat loads of tourists. After seeing the glacier from a far distance, we turned around for a one hour ride back to the ranch. Upon arriving at the ranch, we were picked up in the 4x4 for a trip up the mountain for a different view of the glacier. This 4x4 is a Ford Truck with a camper body attached, set up with about 16 seats cramped inside, all facing forward. The truck had battery and check engine light indicators lit on the dashboard. The drive up the mountain is slow and rough, and I would consider it treacherous. At times the road is mere feet away from cliffs that drop 500-1000’ down. I can say this tourist adventure would never be allowed in the USA ever - no guard rails, posts, nothing at all from preventing a tragedy. I am an adventurer but this was what I consider dangerous. So the ride to the top on these roads is 50 minutes of bouncing around in the back of a camper van crammed in with 10-16 people with warning lights lit up on the dashboard. Once to the top, the group is invited to walk 20 minutes across the mountain range to look down at the glacier which is miles away. The wind was blowing about 40mph and it was COLD, so my wife and I decided not to make the 40 min round trip walk. After talking to the others who went, they said it wasn’t worth it, and their photos proved it. The view of the glacier from that viewpoint was miles and miles away and the wind was insane. Then we left for another 50 minute bumpy drive back down the mountain on the same route. Upon getting down we had the lunch at the ranch restaurant, which was passable. The pumpkin soup was really good, however the first portion of lamb delivered to our table for two (for sharing) was literally a grizzly bone and a small pan of fatty meat. We asked for another portion and the server obliged. The next plate was passable. After lunch, we toured a little cabin with historic pictures of the family who settled there in 1914. It was interesting but I got more out of reading the commentary below the pictures than listening to our young guide. Then the guide pointed us to the boat to walk back to it, which was literally a 1/4 mile away. The journey back was another hour long boat ride, and then the 45 minute van ride until we arrived back to our hotel after dark. After all said and done we really just wanted our day back. It was a major disappointment. This tour may be very interesting for a city dweller who has never been in the mountains, on a lake or in a boat before, but we found it boring, tiresome and at times dangerous (the 4x4 on the edge of cliffs).Written March 27, 2024
- ROBERT GEORGE M0 contributionsA once in a lifetime experienceLeandro was a wonderful guide. Very approachable and very informative. Nothing was too much trouble. The “tour” is very much a DIY affair and that’s probably for the best. The boat trip to the glacier itself is well worth the extra money.Written March 20, 2024
- miaomiaomiya0 contributionsBooked small group tour but ended up in a big bus tour!I booked a small group tour (less than 10 people) and paid USD 500 for this. But I ended up in a bus tour with 40 people!! The description page on TripAdvisor also says this tour is supposed to no more than 10 people. It took one hour in the morning to pick up all the guests to the bus. And the excursion on the ice was also in large group of 20 people. I tried to contact the vendor, but no reply. I filed a complaint via TripAdvisor and asked for partial refund. The dared to reject the request and told TripAdvisor that my tour was in group of 10. Fortunately, i happened to record my trecking so I finally to got refund.Written March 8, 2024

- Letiziar29010 contributionsWonderful sightseeing and experience! The visit of the glacier is something that I totally recommend to everyone! Our guide, Jenny, and the driver came on time at my hotel to pick me up and the whole logistic of the tour was smooth and nice. She also helped me to book a boat ticket to see closer the glacier. What I really liked was the passion and the well detailed as well as varied explanations and info given by Jenny. Without her the visit would not have been the same. The driver was so kind to leave me in downtown afterwards to enjoy a nice walk in the city center of El Calafate.Written February 27, 2024
- 951finnv0 contributionsGreat experienceOur guide Nico was incredibly friendly and helpful. Some of the other staff were a bit pushy to rush everyone through each section, however overall a great experienceWritten January 22, 2024
- leanneh19630 contributionsUnforgettable experienceAfter a slow start with pick-ups & waiting to get tickets at the park I had a great day. The guides & staff were knowledgeable, helpful & friendly. We had 90 minutes on the platforms self-guilded, it was a good suggestion by the company to take your own lunch & sit with a view of the glacier. We then boarded the boat for an unforgettable trip past ice bergs to the other side to walk up to the edge of the glacier. On the way back the boat went along the face of the glacier, it was spectacular, to top it off they served liquor & chocolate. The company seemed like a large well organised company.Written January 14, 2024
- ina g0 contributionsOnce in a lifetime experienceIt is definitively worth the effort to take the BigIce tour! The landscapes are magnificent, we literally saw a natural cave and a waterfall in the glacier. For people with generally good physical condition, it is fine. If you are unable to hike uphill don t go, take the minitrekk optionWritten January 1, 2024
- JosephReardonMD0 contributionsSkip these brokers - book directWe booked a kayak trip through Tangol and were disappointed with the customer service. We booked over a month in advance and we were notified by WhatsApp 2 days before our scheduled tour that our tour was canceled due to “a mistake of our website” and we had to rework all our travel plans to switch to a tour on a different date. It is high season so we couldn’t get a last minute tour with another operator. Tangol subcontracted out the rescheduled tour to a local operator. The tour was great but we didn’t realize that Tangol was just a tour broker. We should have booked directly,Written December 5, 2023
- matthewo4150 contributionsCan’t miss experienceWe had a wonderful day at Nibepo Aike Estancia. The place is absolutely beautiful and calming. After the shuttle ride to the property we had some coffee, and chatted with some of the other guests. Our guide Julieta was warm and charming, she took us to different parts of the estancia for a short hike to see the property then demonstrations by the guachos working there, milking a cow, taking the sheep to pasture, sheering a sheep. We then enjoyed a nice lunch plenty of food, then a horseback ride for three hours. The riding was great, the horses are very calm and easy to ride, and the property is just incredible with fantastic views. Highly recommend!Written December 4, 2023
- Lolly1280 contributionsTrip of a lifetime. Not sure where to begin, this is such an amazing trip. We were picked up at hotel and driven to the port for the boat , very friendly guide. The trip on the boat was fantastic, some snacks and drinks but wow , breathtaking views , to be honest words can’t describe how amazing . When we arrived at the Estancia we went on 4x4 drive to view point and the guide gave us lots of info . The lunch was unbelievable and the serving staff so friendly . We then had a tour around the museum and learnt about The Masters family . This has been such an enjoyable trip , memories I will treasure . Thank you to all staff who were friendly and so informative.Written November 13, 2023
- michellepU7795AU0 contributionsAmazing guide and fabulous communicationThis is so good!!! I was picked up at my hotel and literally didn’t have to worry about anything. I was informed days prior about what I would need and everything was so smooth. Nadia, our guide was amazing and had so much energy and charisma and really made it special. I had so much time to walk around the park. The boat tour was really cool to see the glaciers so close. Such a cool experienceWritten October 6, 2023
- josey2340 contributionsGreat views of a GlacierThe views of the glacier are amazing and the place is a must to visit, difficult to describe the experience, just bring something to eat as there is nothing there and you will be hungry after all the walkingWritten August 18, 2023
