- 1Follow your guide to an old countryside school converted to the ranch’s eating area. Inside the former school, ranch staff welcome you with a light breakfast. Next, you'll learn some horseback riding techniques from your expert guide who leads the way on a 2-hour journey into the Andes foothills. This riding is for begginers and experts. Pass a picturesque lake and ride through transition forests before reaching the Patagonian steppe. Keep your eyes peeled for autochthonous animals. After your ride, return to the ranch and dig into a 3-course lunch (a first course, a main course and a dessert) featuring Argentine asado. The feast of traditional barbecued meats comes with an open bar of wine, soft drinks and mineral water. Finishing this, enjoy transport back to your Bariloche hotel. If you select the afternoon tour, you will start off with lunch, then the horseback ride, and end with snacks. *Please note: If you have dietary restrictions, please note these when you book the tour.
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- H4772NMrogerh0 contributionsJust AwesomeWe arrived early to avoid the tourist buses and crowds. The area has fine viewing points with sensitive spots rightly fenced off. The glacier itself is impressive with a small lake at its base with calved icebergs floating in it. The birdlife seems unafraid of people which is perfect. I loved taking time out watching a pair of Patagonian FinchesWritten December 3, 2024
- Lamparski0 contributionsDay on the water and on the trailsThis was a down day for us and the cruise was the perfect way to relax after many days of hiking. The views were beautiful and the condors were entertaining. The ship was clean as were the ports. This was a good value for the moneyWritten May 29, 2024
- C1489UVmarthas0 contributionsGreat ExperienceThe tour guides, boat crew and photographers were very professional and friendly. The ride on the vintage boat was great to enjoy the panoramic views. The guide was very knowledgeable about the history and biology of the forest. The whole tour was very organized and fun.Written April 26, 2024
- C1489UVmarthas0 contributionsWonderful ExperienceThe tour was a fantastic way to see the panoramic sites on the way to San Martin de Los Andes. The landscapes with the gorgeous mountains and lakes are amazing. The tour guide from LS Travel Group Brc was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. He made the ride fun.Written April 26, 2024
- StephSpaulding1000 contributionsBeware!!!I never give bad reviews. My motto is “ if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. “. However, on this one, I want to give fellow travellers, a warning. I initially booked this trip for the wrong date. I noticed my error within 5 minutes of booking. I tried to cancel the trip, and rebook. . Warning, the trip is a non-refundable. So I immediately sent a message to the tour operator. After not getting a response and sending multiple messages, I called TripAdvisor direct. They changed it immediately to the right date. I sent a total of three different messages about the date change to the tour operator and if they were picking us up from our Airbnb. After not hearing from them, after multiple attempts, I finally called. I was then informed that they would not be picking me up at my Airbnb, and also that the trip I was supposed to take the next morning at 8:30, that I actually had physical tickets in hand for, was sold out and I would have to go at 2pm. If I hadn’t called, I would have been sitting there waiting. They then sent me tickets for the 2pm sailing. I then decided to walk over to their office. Because I wasn’t trusting anything they said. The receptionist there, told me they did have room at 8:30 and give me new tickets. So then I had physical tickets to both the 830 sailing and the 2pm sailing not knowing which I was actually supposed to go on. Horrible, horrible customer service. Make sure you verify everything, including your time and pickup.Written January 18, 2024

- Liz K0 contributionsGood experienceWe went on the Cau Cau cruise and really enjoyed it. The coach travel from Bariloche to the boat was good and we enjoyed the boat ride. Guide was excellent and we were able to do the cruise, Island and forest in English. all round a good experience.Written December 10, 2022
- CyKeWh0 contributionsLake, Forest, and Island Day TourThe scenery is truly stunning. We enjoyed hiking around Victoria Island and spending time at the Arrayan Forest. I would have liked to have spent more time there, at the forest, but you have only 40 minutes to walk the circuit then get back to the boat. On the tour description, it says that we were supposed to visit the Quetrihué Peninsula, which we did not do. The company should probably update the tour description so that people aren't disappointed when they realize that they aren't going to visit that stop. Also, as an FYI, If you book this tour, be prepared to have more of an independent experience. We thought that we would have a multilingual tour guide, and that was not the case. When the guide took the group on a guided tour, we had to go off on our own because he conducted the tour only in Spanish. When making announcements on when we had to return back to the boat, he didn't make an effort to tell us in English. Luckily we do know a little Spanish, but if you are selling the tours to English speakers, then you should have someone that will at least explain the basics in English.Written October 30, 2022
- pame19640 contributionsCan't be missedVery difficult to chose what to do but you'll never be dissappointed with anything in Bariloche, certainly a charming beauty spot.Written May 3, 2022
- kevin c0 contributionsCold water experienceWe were picked up en route from our Estancia and enjoyed a scenic drive to John’s camp a small Patagonia farm. Wetsuits and safety equipment provide d before a short drive to the start of the white water rafting experience. The guides provide a good safety briefing and we’re able to communicate in good English. The rapids were negotiated safely with good instructions from the boat guide. The water is very cold but the chance to float down a rapid should not be missed. End up in Chile ad a short steep walk to the vehicle before heading back to the farm for lunch. All in all a good experience.Written March 22, 2022
- thejeanelise0 contributionsThis company is a scamDO NOT BOOK WITH TANGOL. This tour company stole my money and did not provide me a tour - it’s just a scam. Save yourself the headache of trying to get your money back - just book your tours with a different company once you’re in a Bariloche. There are at least half a dozen tourism offices downtown to choose from (probably more), who offer the same tours at 1/2 or 1/3 the price anyway.Written February 25, 2022
- JonM26800 contributionsModesta Victoria Cruise!Modesta Victoria is a vintage cruise ship with plush wood interior. A historical relic still in service and a wonderful way to explore Victoria Forest and the Arrayan Forest Walk. There are other newer ships in Nahuel Huapi Lake but I am so glad we took this cruise rather than the others.Written March 10, 2020
- BobandMaggie600 contributionsAs it says ...7 lakes tourWe enjoyed our 11 hour day trip from Bariloche with an enthusiastic English guide Joanna to see the 7 lakes on the itinerary. Comfort breaks were appropriately included and the lunch break in San Martin is pleasant. The walk in to the town from the lake is worthwhile just to compare it with Bariloche. Lots of places to eat beyond what the guide suggests in the 2 hour time slot although we just found a seat to eat our packed lunch overlooking the lake as we weren’t aware their was an opportunity to seek out a lunch venue during our schedule. If you want to see more of the lakes in this area you won’t be disappointed with this trip. Our travel agent booked it for us through Turracion so not sure which company is the best to use but there appears to be several running on Tuesdays.Written March 5, 2020
- Orla D0 contributionsA Long Expensive Bus RideWe paid far too much for this tour which is really a long bus ride . Best thing to do is hire a car and stop where and when you want . We got dropped off at St Martin which is a very nice place and had a nice lunch which isn’t included in the tour . Our guide Alejandro was doing his best and translated his commentary into English for us . However I can not recommend this tourWritten February 8, 2020
- GalinaNewYork0 contributionsBeautiful way to cross from Argentina to ChileWe used Cruce Andino in January 2020. Very well organized journey. We used it with optional overnight stop in Pela. If hou have an extra day, it’s a beautiful place with great view of the mountains. Be aware of the horse flies!! We were still able to enjoy the walk and views and had a little break between bus/ferry ridesWritten February 2, 2020

I wanted a tour that was an alternative to riding in a van to see the sights in and around Bariloche. This horseback tour was just the thing. Picked up at my hotel and taken to an estancia about 45 minutes outside of the city, our group had a continental breakfast and nature talk to begin the tour. There were only two English speakers out of eleven participants, but the tour coordinator at the estancia reviewed the highlights of his remarks in Spanish for us and answered any questions we had. The actual ride was 90 minutes across scrub land, through streams and up and down hillsides. There were two gauchos, one leading the walk, the other bringing up the rear as well as three dogs helping to keep the horses together. The ride and scenery were spectacular, ending in a very good traditional asado lunch with wine and other beverages. One does not have to have had experience riding, most of our group hadn't, so novices can handle the horses. One suggestion would be to wear jeans or long pants to avoid contact with some of the plants the horses walked through. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and felt I got a great bang for my buck. Highly recommended.

The mountainous landscape and Lake Nahuel Huapi make for a vacation in Bariloche. The people of Bariloche are good hosts for tourism. It is a city that welcomes all social sectors and all ages. There is a wide range of hotels, hostels, houses, and campsites to stay in. Public transport connects various parts of the city but the cars are in deplorable condition and are overflowing with tourists.
Now, the visitor will find a Bariloche that is a city partly unfinished and without municipal maintenance. Narrow, pitted, patched streets. Very expensive. Excessively expensive and monopolized tourist services such as the Turisur company that monopolizes excursions around the lakes. Deplorable company that charges up to US$90 per person to sail on boats in poor condition that spew jets of diesel oil into the Nahuel Huapi, Frías lakes that are part of national parks. In addition to the ECOtasa (and other piles of taxes) that they charge to improve the tourist infrastructure that has not been repaired or expanded for about 30 years. In short, Bariloche is saved by the qualities of the landscape, which is undoubtedly highly exploited as an aesthetic resource.

The experience was phenomenal, definitely a great experience. It’s cheaper if you pay for the tour in Argentinian pesos than to do through trip advisor. Definitely a little too expensive in my opinion and the steak was okay, I like my steak medium rare and it came out medium well. So they should ask people how they like their steak imo

Unfortunately, also our trip was canceled two days before. We have booked for 2 people for the 26.12 and got notified on 24.12. that there were too less people to make the tour. I was asking if there are other things that we can do instead but I never got an answer. So it might be worth to think in alternatives in case of cancellation.

Dear Katharina,
Thanks for your review,
The Estancia San Ramón notified us on December 24th that they would not be possible to open the ranch since they needed a minimum of passengers to operate, considering that your reservation was for two people and you were the only passengers. As soon as we received that message we let you know offering to modify your reservation for December 27th by e.mail; also we left a message to your hotel.
We received your answer saying that could not be possible to modify the date but when you sent your message our offices were closed due to Christmas Day, only emergency mobile was working.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience. We hope you can visit us in the future so you can reverse your opinion.
We appreciate your comprehention and comments as it helps us improve the quality of our services.
Kind regards,
Tangol

The day was handled by Si Turismo and we went to la Fragua.
The bus ride from Bariloche is about 30 minutes long. If you are fortunate enough to be the last one to be picked up. Unfortunately for us we were the first and the driver was sent to many wrong address… the day started for us with a 50 minutes ride going in circle in Bariloche. I would give 0/5 for that part.
Fortunately when we arrived at destination, everything went perfectly. At first you have a breakfast while learning about the ecosystem and the biodiversity of the area. Then you jump on your horse and ride for 1h1/2.
When you comeback, a delicious meal is waiting tor you.
The horses are beautiful and very easy to ride. The dogs from the estancia follow the group during the entire time, very cute.
The area is beautiful. One of our best experience in Argentina.
We were the only foreigners. Everything was in spanish. We understood most of it so we didn’t ask for translation. Best spanish class ever for our two teenagers.
One our way back, we jumped out of the bus the minute we entred the city center. We were not ready to drive to all the hotels once again.

This is a good tour. They pick you up and return you from Bariloche. It’s a bit of a drive to the ranch. We were greeted in the morning with coffee and pastries in a beautiful wood lodge with a fireplace roaring. There is a long talk about the animals that live in the area. I would’ve liked to have heard more about the horses that we were about to ride. The horses were strong, healthy and easy to ride. We walked mostly with only a small amount of trotting. After the ride, there is a big lunch served in the lodge which is wonderful. Be prepared for wind, as it can be quite strong in this area.

Cristina and Valvanuz, from 30Montes stables in Penagos treated my two daughters and me wonderfully. Beautiful views of the Pasiegos and Cabarceno valleys, with Peña Cabarga in the background.
As an introduction, they told us about horses and their characteristics, what they like and what they don’t like. They let us choose our horse and then we went to a track to play games with them and get acquainted with them.
We went for a walk and had a great time, Cristina and Valvanuz were very aware of us and took great care of us. We feel safe and happy. Come back again, go and enjoy!!!!

This was one of the best rides I've ever been on. The ride was through a valley, so there was no concern about mountains. The gauchos spoke English, so no worries. The gauchos did a wonderful job matching the riders with the horses. The ride was about two hours, but very leisurely. My husband chose not to ride and enjoyed walking around the ranch. There was a light breakfast before the ride which was delicious. The meal after the ride was fantastic! I highly recommend this ride

When we arrived we enjoyed sopapilla type pastries with tastey jam and mate then embarked on a two hour trail ride with astounding panoramic views and peaceful silence. Our horses were well cared for and very responsive. And our two friendly gauchos kindly stopped for picture taking opportunities. The ride was followed by a yummy Argentinian lunch of fresh salad, potatos and, of course, perfectly barbequed steak from La Pampas and crepes with dolce de leche. It was a perfect day!

This was a highlight of our trip to Argentina. Amazing scenery. Great horses and trails. Friendly support from the gauchos, so we never felt out of control. And to cap it off, a delicious asado meal at the end of the ride. Very authentic. Strongly recommended!
