About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- christinerU6516YZ0 contributionsGreat tour, good value, and the best whale watching! This was an excellent tour, and reasonably priced. The tour guide really knew all about the area and explained everything very well. The driver also kept a keen eye for wildlife so we didn’t miss a thing. The group size was small and the van was comfortable. I was picked up exactly on time. The whale watching trip was AMAZING! Hundreds of whales and the best boat captain. He was passionate about his job and obviously loved the whales. I would highly recommend this tour.Written July 31, 2024
- lexy570 contributionsThank goodness for the Blue Balloon! We literally booked this via email direct with Diego about 12 hours before we arrived. Gosh! It was as smooth as silk meeting him on the mile long pier(thank goodness for that blue balloon! Roberto was our driver/guide and he was warm, friendly, well versed and just a delight to travel with. His knowledge was incredible on so many levels. I highly recommend this company!Written March 23, 2024
- 898haleyw0 contributionsGreat tourIt was a long drive from the port of Puerto Madryan but we saw a lot more than penguins on the ride! Amelia was a great guide, she was fun and knowledgeable.Written March 23, 2024
- Seeitalldoitall0 contributionsPenguins ❤️Fantastic day! We were met right at the end of the cruise pier by Diego and his crew. They are easy to find because of the blue balloon. The van is comfortable, clean with working air conditioning. Our guide Martin had great knowledge of the area and provided an excellent full day tour. The driver always stopped to allow us to view and photograph wildlife including Guanacos, Mara, and many birds. First stop is the small museum, great to quickly read some info on the area and a restroom break. Then off to see the penguins! This rookery was well managed by the Rangers. Penguins are literally EVERYWHERE, under bushes, trees, in their burrows and near the water. Our time with them was magical! Afterwards we went to the lunch stop at Estancia San Lorenzo. Food is very good and served in large portions. Next stop was Punta Norte where we viewed Elephant Seals and sea lions on the beach. The day was long but well worth the driving time and over the dirt roads. A really great day!Written March 15, 2024
- TerryandChris0 contributionsExcellent tourMary as guide and Pedro as driver were an excellent team pointing out the varied wildlife we saw. This is a very beautiful area and the tour was excellent. Highly recommended.Written March 13, 2024
- kellmed20 contributionsExtremely cramped vehicle. Do NOT recommend! Our excursion had pluses and minuses. The positive aspects were the spectacular scenery and the ability to see the sea lions and penguins in their habitat. Our driver, Santiago, was kind and very knowledgeable. The lunch of barbecued lamb, sausage, salad, empanadas and flan at San Lorenzo was quite good and ample. The negatives, which were quite significant, included a long trip in a very compact Ford pick-up, which made Economy class feel luxuriant. My wife ended up seated in the middle of the back seat on a hump with zero leg room. I am 6’1” and was in the back seat with minus zero leg room. There was another couple in the same vehicle. The vehicle was high, which made it quite difficult for my wife to climb in and out of the vehicle. Our guide, who was the driver of the vehicle, could not be heard by those sitting in the back seats. We prepaid $20.00 each for the entrance to Cape Verdes, but the price listed on the actual ticket was $12.00 each. If I had known what type of vehicle we would be transported in, I definitely would not have travelled with this agency. Thus, despite the positives, unless Sentir guarantees a comfortable vehicle, I ABSOLUTELY do NOT recommend using this tour agency.Written March 13, 2024
- lk19150 contributionsExcellent Company with a Very Knowledgeable Tour Guide!Sentir Patagonia Travel is an Excellent Tour Group. I highly recommend them for any tour or cruise shore excursion you may choose. They were organized, communicated well, start to finish and the tour was exactly as I expected. Having said that, it is important that if you choose a tour to Peninsula Valdez, you understand where you are going and what you MAY or MAY not see. The roads are rough and the animals are wild. So to get anywhere takes a long time (as the reviews, our guide and I knew before) and wild animals show up whenever, wherever (as the reviews our guide and I knew before.). So for me, the tour was exactly as expected with an amazing tour guide Carolina Garcia, exceptional well-prepared, knowledgeable and talked about the animals whether we saw them or not. We had a great driver that stopped and wiggled the bus best as possible to help us see whatever animals we could. But we went at the end of the season, on a very windy day and so we saw LOTS of Guanacos, no penguins and LOTS of Elephant Seals. We saw a great deal of Peninsula Valdez. It was what I expected. But you will enjoy it, appreciate it and rate it highly if you understand exactly what you are choosing. Sentir Patagonia has lots of choices and will work with you to get what you want. The buses were smaller size and in GREAT shape, far better than many other places we have toured.Written March 11, 2024
- Lena14440 contributionsNature viewingNice guide and driver. Did their best to take us to the best areas to see sea lions. Penguins were scarce due to time of year.Written March 10, 2024
- tonydE8727LJ0 contributionsExcursion 08 March 2024 - reviewExcursion was ok but far too much time spent sitting on a coach. To begin with was about 40 minutes from the dock to the first visiting point with about 20 minute stop time. We then set off for another 1 hour 30 minutes (minimum) before a five minute stop to see the penguins. It was only five minutes because there wasn’t any to see. We then continued for about ten minutes to see the seals which was about an hour stop. After this hour we returned the same journey back to the cruise dock with a five minute stop. Lunch was provided on the coach eating as we drove along. I acknowledge it’s not the companies fault for no penguins being seen but all in all for a seven hour excursion we were sitting on a coach for over 5 hours. However we were informed there was only two seen the day before - maybe another option could have been offered. The whole experience is based on seeing the penguins.Written March 9, 2024
- PebbleFlorida0 contributionsGreat Tour!Great tour to see tons of Magellanic Penguins! As soon as they filled a vehicle you were off! Small group! Mary our guide was fabulous and made the 2hr trip go very fast! She gave us all kinds of information about the history and current situation of the area.Written March 8, 2024
- 487glens0 contributionsExcellent and Educational TourOur cruise itinerary changed due to weather, and we arrived a day early in Puerto Madryn, with the ship staying overnight. We had signed up for a tour with Sentir Travel for what became day 2 of our stay. They reached out to us via WhatsApp while we were en route, and made this tour available to us for.our new day of arrival. That was convenient, since the ship had a limited number of excursions available for the new arrival day. If you have cruised before you know that a change in plans can create a scramble. Sentir was on the ball. Our tour was a group of 4, with a driver/guide in a vehicle about the size of an SUV. The drive itself is long, but most excursions out of Puerto Madryn are like that. Some of the drive is over gravel road. We arrived late in the season, so many of the penguins had already migrated out of the area. It was also a very windy day, with rough seas. There were still many penguins to see, but we compared notes with passengers who visited the following day, and I think they got a better viewing experience. Your trip will involve an element of luck. In addition to penguins, we saw guanaco, rhea, and even a fox within the reserve. Some bird life as well. Our driver and guide was Roberto, aka Beto. He speaks excellent English. He made some put stops along the way, and took us through the interpretive centre, and told us some history of the area which was excellent to learn. The walk at Punta Tombo is over a mix of gravel and boardwalk. I would describe the terrain as very manageable, and the walk itself is a few kilometres round trip. We walked at a leisurely pace and took 90 minutes with a lot of time spent taking photos or observing. We were provided a simple boxed lunch, and we were asked ahead of time about any dietary restrictions. Not fancy, but no complaints. Beto is an excellent guide. You would be fortunate to be with him for your tour. I would book with Sentir Travel again in Puerto Madryn without hesitation.Written March 7, 2024
- 487glens0 contributionsExcellent Tour, Guide and DriverWe had excellent communication with the tour operator, which was essential since weather impacted our itinerary. The meeting point at the end of the pier was easy to find, and we left with our guide very efficiently. Our visit to the area was at the end of summer, and much of the sea begun their migrations. Still, we saw penguins, seals, sea lions. Just not as many as you would expect in a higher season. Along the way, we saw many guanaco, and mara, and a hawk. Our guide Diego spoke excellent English, and made sure that we had enough time to visit the important sites and get back to ship with time to spare. Some things that you should know. This tour involves a long drive - about 2.5 hours each way - and half of that drive is over gravel road. Any tour from port to see wildlife will have similar travel times. If you are prone to motion sickness you might want to ensure you have a small tour. Ours was a group of 12, so 14 people including driver and guide in a 15-seat tour bus. There was not too much walking on this tour. We made a number of stops and at each one there was a short walk. In short, this is an excellent tour with a well run tour company with knowledgeable and experienced guide and driver. I would book with them again without hesitation. Thanks!Written March 7, 2024
- TRWilliams20 contributionsGood excursion but cramped van rudeThe excursion was good, but it’s long van ride from the cruise port. The seats are small and not enough leg room so it is very uncomfortable.Written March 6, 2024
- YEE MAN MARIA W0 contributionsInteresting tourExcellent guide Emilia. Saw penguins up close, seals and sea elephants from the cliff, also saw owls and other animals.Written March 4, 2024
- tmoore480 contributionsGreat visit to see many of the animals of ArgentinaWe actually booked through Shore Excursions Group to take advantage of the money back if we didn’t make it to port. The ship’s schedule changed dramatically several times, but as promised, Sentir Patagonia was waiting for us 30 minutes after arrival with a blue balloon. We were on a bus with 15-20 others from our ship, with Gustavo driving and Martin as guide. They both are excellent at spotting animals and birds, although no specific animal is guaranteed on any particular tour, weather and season dependent. We saw guanacos, a mara, chioques, elephant seals, and a few Magellanic penguins, as well as some burrowing owls at the end of the tour. We were given plenty of notice of what was coming, how long each drive would be, and when restrooms would be available. Great tour, knowledgeable guide!Written February 29, 2024
