- spoon23900great opportunity to see penguinsWe had a fun day going out to Punta Norte to see the sea lions and penguins. The elephant seals were already gone by March but the sea lions were still visible, although not very close. We did not see orcas, but that was not unexpected. However the experience with the penguins was amazing as there were hundreds and very up close to view. We had a very nice lunch at the ranch, delicious sausages.
- J3793PUalexv00Fantastic penguin encounterGreat excursion. Our tour guide Diego was a wealth of knowledge in all areas, history, culture, nature, etc. He also knew the best time to go our locations in order to avoid the crowds from big buses. Penguins were great, very active, cute and there were a lot of them. Highly recommend.
- cliffords21500not good at allthey said there was a boardwalk available it e as a mess and very dangerous. poor;y maintain, The guide was very young and knew nothing the driver have some knoeledge but only spoke spanish so you ask the tour guide a question she had to repeat it to the driver in spanish then she would translate to us the answer. It was a long up hill walk to see the first penguin and a longer walk to see more, the said they left for the beach. It was a long boring drive for the price just did not justfide the cost
- 991ezral00Mixed feailigsThe Guide was knowledgeable and cooperative. We did see the wildlife expected. The minibus was small and cramped. Seating on the bench at the end of the minibus was very unpleasant , considering a total drive time of 5 hours. 3.5 hours of them were on an unpaved dirt road, jumping up an down. Visibility through the mini bus windows was limited. Lunch was limited and not that tasty (compared to other groups seating there )
- 822rickn00Amazing opportunity to view Magellanic penguins in their natural habitat!Beto was a great guide, friendly and informative. We first visited the elephant seals and sea lions at Port Norte. But the highlight was the visit to the Magellanic penguin rookery at the farm Beto took us to. Seeing the penguins "guarding" their homes, "cleaning" their homes, then walk to the ocean where we saw hundreds wading on the beach and many swimming. Truly amazing, particularly with them walking right beside us! But the lunch at the farm could have been missed. Way too much food and not particularly good.
- kcoulahan00Worth the drive to see the wildlifeThis was a small group tour, but when I got off the ship, it turned out to be just Berto and me. (My husband went on a different tour.) A delightful and knowledgeable man who has been a tour guide for 20 years. He had lots of information and stories about both history and life today to fill the 2 hour drive to the UNESCO private nature reserve. Guanaco, sea lions, elephant seals, sheep, and penguins, penguins and more penguins--so interesting to watch. Once back in Puerto Madryn, we took a quick drive through town. Never any concern about getting back to the ship in time.
- glampedlife00Excellent stop over via Celebrity cruisePerfect stop over from Celebrity cruises! Dont be afraid to book with this company, the cruise boats are overpriced. This was one of my best port stops from the cruise in Feb. Good instructions where given, they will meet you at the end of port with a blue balloon, they know the ship times to leave, you wont be late, well organized day. We had some jerks on our tour that where not kind to the the guide. Emelia was a EXCELLENT guide, she is very knowledgeable in the area, she answered all my question's, the stops are short but enough time to check take bathroom and shopping breaks. You will receive a box lunch with water. I really enjoyed this beautiful port stop and all the animals we got to see, and we saw alot!! I will be returning oneday to this area for vacation for sure so spend more time. Please tell Emelia we said thank you for such a amazing day (we sat in the front seats). TIP: when you travel be kind and compassionate or stay home.
- lipingx202300Very interesting tour to see many penguinsWe joined a small group tour with on time hotel pickup and drop off. It was a very interesting trip, in which we saw many penguins.
- TwoSue00Book this instead of the ship's excursion!Had a great trip to Punto Tombo to see thousands of Magellanic penguins. It was the guide, driver, one other couple and us. We got out of town way before the ship's busses and had plenty of time to enjoy the penguins before the crowds came. We had a generous boxed lunch on the way back. Excellent tour and value!!
- lynnsea00Natural Beauty in Peninsula Valdes and Punta NorteFabulous excursion with Sentir Patagonia. Imagine celebrating New Years Eve with a million Magellanic Penguins and sea lions in their natural habit. We also got to see Maras, Guanacos and Choiques on beautiful Peninsula Valdes. Thanks to Sentir Patagonia, who took on this excursion, we got to see up close Magellanic Penguins and learn about their mating habits and migration. We also got to visit Estancia San Lorenzo, a working sheep farm. While there, we had an exquisite barbeque. From Estancia San Lorenzo we drove to Punta Norte which was the crown jewel of our trip. The ocean was a beautiful topaz blue, and the beach was bathed in sunlight with hundreds of Sea Lions basking in the sun. We didn't want to leave. Thank you, Sentir Patagonia!
- atravelerfornow00fantastic outing to Punto Tombo and Playa EscondidaI thoroughly enjoyed the Punta Tombo Tour, with the option for a stop at Playa Escondida. We saw penguins, elephant seals, guanaco, mara, a variety of birds, and more, all in the gorgeous terrain of Patagonia. The experience with Sentir Patagonia Travel was very positive - very professional staff at every point, nice van, well planned itinerary, great facilities, thorough information. Highly recommended!
- Kim G00Amazing Way to See the Wildlife in this AreaAfter waiting for quite some time (as others hadn't disembark in a timely fashion) we were picked up from the pier with a group of others from our ship. The drive is 175kms so about 2 1/2 hours with the last hour on gravel roads. It is a bumpy ride so if this is not your preference you may want to rethink it. Our driver Pedro did his very best to make it as smooth as possible even driving in the middle of the road at times to avoid as many bumps as possible. Our guide Beto was informative and told us about the region, the wildlife and life in Puerto Madryn. We stopped first at a check point going into the Peninsula as they want to ensure groups are travelling with official guides. We had a stop at a rest stop and then proceeded to the ranch were we had a good lunch. Empanada, salad, BBQ lamb and dulce de leche flan. Everything was prepared nicely although the service was just alright. After lunch we went to the Nature Reserve to visit the penguins where they say there are between 800,000 - 1 million birds. It was amazing! The Magellan penguins are everywhere and you can get quite close to them. There is a pathway that they ask you stay on but the penguins go wherever they want so they were often crossing the designated pathways. There were many babies and it was quite noisy with the chatter of the birds everywhere. We spent about an hour there in total but we could have spent all day there - it was so awesome to see them in such a natural environment. We walked down to the beach and watched them on the sand and swimming in the water. Approximately 6kms up the coast we visited the sea lions and elephant seals. The vantage point is from a cliff so you can't really get up close. But you can certainly hear them. We were a little pressed for time at this stop as they wanted to make sure we arrived back on time. We came back to the pier just at the all aboard time. Long day but completely worth it.
- Shar180500Wonderful experience, excellent guideThank you Sentir. The tour to see the penguins at Punta Tombo was well organized, professional, and very interesting. Our guide, Diego, spoke excellent English and was friendly and very knowledgeable. The vehicle was comfortable and the driver was good too. Even the boxed lunch was full of tasty goodies. Highly recommended!
- LazyDays4Us00Loved this shore excursionOur guide was Berto, driver Pedro. Looked for the blue balloon, and our small group of 8 was on our way. 2.5hrs there, long road, with 20km of dirt & gravel. The landscape is sparse (except for the giant Dinosaur in the middle of nowheresville and the wind turbines). The Rookery is hectares of safe areas for the Magellanic Penguins to have their chicks. It was beautiful. What we saw was fantastic. Possibly about 5,000 in total. So many cute babies. Follow the boardwalks and paths and the little ones will delight you with their antics, their nonchalance for tourists. Look for the one path where they have created a highway between the sea and home (the parents jog down to the water for food to bring back for their family). Head down to the water (via the boardwalks) to see more of these little characters. Boxed lunch on the way home. We were dropped off (by request) at the pier - little market stalls. Fantastic day! Thank you.
- Sharon H00Amazing day with the penguins! We highly recommend Sentir Patagonia and their excursion to Punta Tombo to see the Magellanic penguins--and it was far more reasonably priced than the ship tour! The blue balloons that they were holding made it easy to spot them as we disembarked. Even though they had to wait nearly an hour for everyone to arrive from the ship (totally a ship problem), they waited for everyone and assured us that we would not miss out on our day with the penguins. The small group was a real plus and the vans were comfortable and well-equipped. Lucas, our driver. was wonderful--he was even able to find a way to get around a few road problems that we encountered and get us to the rookery in record time. Our guide, Diego, was the best. He gave us wonderful history and background of Puerto Madryn and much information about the penguins and other animals we would be seeing--like the Guanacos. He was very professional and made sure that we had time to walk the entire boardwalk to see everything possible, and he still got us back to Puerto Madryn with time to explore the many vendors and the lovely beach adjoining the cruise dock. Thanks Sentir Patagonia, Lucas, and Diego, for an unforgettable experience!

A very long drive on very poor roads. Weather was terrible terrible but not companies fault . All on our minibus had different times from 8AM until 9:30 so lots of waiting around. Marina tour guide was good gave us lots of information about the area, the driver wAs good on poor roads . But we saw only a few penguins and the seals in the distance . Too far and a very uncomfortable journey with not a lot to see on an unvaried Patagonia landscape for miles.

I have never given a one star review before. However the lack of response from this company required this rating. We were scheduled for a tour on 1/28/2020 due to poor weather conditions our ship was unable to dock. I totally understand the company's 3 day cancellation policy and understood that I would not receive a refund. However I have emailed the company twice to request documentation for my credit card insurance (to get a refund) and there has been no response. Since the company charged me $507.40USD and did need to provide a tour, I don't think that asking the company for a letter stating that we were unable to tour due to weather conditions is unreasonable. Sadly I will not be able to get a refund from my credit card insurance company because I can't get a letter from this company.

An excellent excursion well-planned, and great information. Finding the tour was easy...we looked for the blue ballon Onoon the wharf...easily identifiable. Good driver, great tour guide, great translator. Translator had to give info twice, second time to the back of the mini-bus as microphone wasn't working properly. The driver and guide very caring, a friend left an item on the bus, didn't realise for a while, when she went back searching for the bus, they had already found the item and were looking for her.
We saw most of the animals mentioned in the program, plus the geography and story of the peninsular was quite detailed. The tour was much cheaper than the exact one sold on the ship. Congratulations. I would highly recommend this excursion.

Long drive out through the Peninsula Valdes, but well worth it when we saw colonies of penguins and elephant sea lions, as well as much more wildlife. Our guide was very friendly and cordial. However, his English was somewhat limited, which made the tour less informative than it could have been. Also the car we were in was rather crowded and uncomfortable for the group of five of us traveling.

This was a great tour. We saw so much. Driver and tour guide were so good. Long drive but worth it. We walked right up to penguins. Saw lots of different animals.
This was exactly what we wanted and expected in Patagonia.
As a side note, I dropped identification and some money in the van accidentally. I didn't even miss it. The tour operator's wife came to the pier to return it. I did not receive the e mail they sent (slow e mail) so didn't know she was coming. She gave the money and id to Holland America personnel on the pier and it was returned to me.
This was above and beyond and indicates the kind of people you deal with at this company. Thank you so much.

The highlight was seeing the penguins, which we were able to do up close. Amazing how they just stood there and let us take our pictures. Also saw Sea Lions and seals. Biggest negative is the two hour drive to get there and another two hours to get back. Most of it on bumpy, gravel, dirt roads...which was not the most comfortable. Had a okay lunch at a local restaurant. Served a salad and meat. Some tables got meat and French fries...we were not given a choice. Also had some red wine. Many liked it, but we were not impressed. In retrospect, we might have preferred a boat trip around the peninsula and taken our photos from the boat...would have been more comfortable.

You get exposed to miles of Patagonian desert including driving on gravel roads. Maybe not for everyone but I enjoyed it a lot. Mary the guide knew everything and communicated beautifully including a slight Scottish accent. Diego the driver tried hard to make the gravel roads go smoothly. Lunch was just what we ordered. Wild life: lots and lots of guanacos and even a mara. The Penguins were mostly on the beach away from people but several came up closer so I got a few good shots. Elephant seals not numerous and far but we did have binoculars. Sea lions very far off. This was late February. The tour company made it plain that they would get us back to the ship. About 60% of ship shore excursion cost. Recommend highly

Take us to see penguins. The advertisement for this tour has a picture of penguin on it & we expected to see penguins. After the van left for the tour, We were told that we would not go to penguin area because the road was closed due to rains the day before.
Yet we talked to several other folks who took similar tours from ship & they said road was fine & they saw penguins. We ended up going to 2 other areas & saw plenty of sea lions but no penguins. The dirt/gravel road was very very bumpy but we were aware it would be bumpy & we were willing to suffer thru 5 hrs of that if we had seen penguins.

We were able to see a lot of wildlife on this tour: elephant seals, maras, guanacos, choiques, and Magellan penguines. Our guide gave us a lot of information about the area and of course the animals that we saw. The tour was well organized and the guide very knowledgeable and organized. The only draw back was the long ride to and from the penguin area.

We had a great time on this tour. The guide, driver and bus were helpful in every way. We managed to see a lot of wildlife. We had plenty of opportunities to take photos, and see wildlife up close. We never felt rushed and were generally felt cared for...

We were there this month, February. There was nothing mentioned however they did say that they came in to shore to raise their young and once they were old enough they went back to sea with them. We do not know when the young are born though....
We had our best viewing of penguins at the Valdez Peninsula on this trip ...we were within a metre of them..they showed no fear in fact seemed quite curious...a very good experience.

Hi Kathie,
It depends on when the ship leaves. The tour takes 7 hours. There is about 5 hours of driving there and back. We found the tour very interesting although the landscape all the route is dry and arid.
Hope this helps.
