What an incredible day! (Mountain adventure)
Feb 2020 • Couples
The most incredible (14 hour) day exploring the 14 colour mountain, Humahuaca, Salinas Grandes, Cerro de los Siete Colores and Purmamarca, eating llama and salt direct from the salt flats along the way.

Gareth booked in our tour very swiftly (despite us only enquiring about it a couple of weeks in advance!) and Alejandro, our guide on the day, was absolutely brilliant! He was tireless, really friendly and knowledgeable and ensured we got exactly what we wanted out of the tour.

It was absolutely worth every cent and we will certainly be recommending this to anyone we know who is visiting the Salta region.

Tour of Cafayate ,North Salta and Peru.
Dec 2019 • Friends
Our bespoke tour included Peru as well as North and South Salta Province, Argentina. The Peru visit was based around Cusco and The Sacred Valley, including Machu Picchu. The itinerary was tailor made to our personal requirements as a small group of four friends.
TRANSFERS and TRANSPORT
Whilst Five Senses Travel is based in Argentina, they organised the Peru section with their partners at Condor Travel, Peru. Private transfers were arranged at both Lima and Cusco airports and good advice given in taking taxis at Buenos Aires for transfer to and from the hotel. The tour managers were polite, friendly and very efficient. They took all the stress out of travelling by providing us with the necessary entrance tickets to sites as well as being our guides. Thank you Condor Travel for helping to make a memorable trip.
ACCOMMODATION
We asked for mid range hotels in both countries and were delighted with all of them. Five Senses had certainly done their homework and came up with a mix of heritage hotels and lodges with the wow factor and away from the beaten track.
In Argentina, we went on two road trips, first to the north of Salta Province and then the south. Our guides’ expert knowledge of the area was a bonus; one day we were taken off track to visit a weaver who worked on an archaic loom, producing textiles which won her an award at national level. On another, they sought out the best place to see the elusive condor. Every day was a voyage of discovery. We learnt so much about both countries.Thank you Five Senses for a holiday that will live long in the memory.

Excellent Trip
Oct 2019
I contacted 5 Senses earlier this year to arrange a 9-day photographic trip of the upper northwest region of Argentina, and everything was great. It was very easy to communicate with Gareth at Five Senses and he was very helpful in ensuring that certain of our accommodations were confirmed. Five Senses put together an itinerary very quickly and, truthfully, since I was unfamiliar with the area I made only one small change; in other words, I just had to trust that the tour would be what I was looking for and it was. We visited some of the more familiar towns for tourists and, just as importantly, we visited some much smaller towns (populations of 200 and 600 people). If you really want to photograph an area you really need to make more than one visit, so this trip was about seeing the lay of the land just as much as shooting some beautiful scenery (and now I have some ideas of what I'd do on a return visit). Our guide, Gonsalvo (sp?), has worked with photographers before so any of my photographer eccentricities didn't faze him. The trip was fantastic. The scenery was one impressive site after another, and we went far off the normal tourist paht. Now, if you're going to travel for 9-day it certainly helps that you get along with your guide/driver, and we were fortunate to have Gonsalvo because he was an excellent driver whether the terrain was the smooth part of Route 40 or an unnamed back road overlooking a steep drop. His 4x4 was spacious and comfortable (and many of the roads we traveled could not be traversed in anything other than a 4x4), and his personality engaging and helpful. He always asked if we needed water or some other liquid, and had suggestions about things to see and do (even though we were low-maintenance travelers (at least I think so!) he always seemed open to our questions/suggestions). For me, there was tremendous value in having a guide knowledgeable about the area and, should a problem have arisen, a guide able to summon assistance via Five Senses no matter where we happened to be. Did we get lucky by having Gonsalvo (yes)? Would another guide have been just as good (I'd hope so)? He seemed to know someone everywhere we stopped and always made sure we were checked in and settled at each stop, and let any food preparer know that I don't like cheese :-) So, when I make it back to this part of the world -- or plan a trip to Bolivia or Patagonia or Chile -- I'll make plans using Five Senses.

13 Hour Tour Day
Jun 2019
We took a 13 hour tour day with Five Senses Travel at the end of June and it was honestly fabulous! With Juan Pablo as our fluent English speaking guide and driver, we saw some of the most wonderful sights the Salta region has to offer. At heights of up to 14,500 feet, we were mesmerised by the Salinas Grandes, Atacama Desert, coloured mountains, Jujuy, Purmamarca and the Train Through the Clouds to name but a few. Juan Pablo was charming, patient and knowledgeable, answering our frequent and many questions. The safety tracking devices Juan Pablo carries were a great comfort too. We thoroughly recommend Five Senses Travel and have already passed on details to several friends who are looking to take a similar trip next year. Thank you to everyone at Five Senses Travel for making our time in Salta so memorable, we wish you much continued success with your business.

2-day custom tour North of Salta
Apr 2019 • Couples
We could not find any group tour that covers all the places in North of Salta that we wanted to see so we splurged and booked with Five Senses. Gareth was great to communicate with via email during the planning stage. Our guide Eduardo was top notched. He was on-time every day. He took great care of us, bought us water every day, picked us up to go to dinner. He introduced us to delicious local foods (best empanada at a street side stall in Humahuaca, great local restaurant in our evening in Tilcara and lunch in SA).

Our itinerary covers: Hornocal (14 color hill), all the attractions around Tilcara, Purmamarca, Salt Flats. On the return drive to Salta, even though not on the designed itinerary, Eduardo drove us through San Antonio de los Cobres, which was a bonus; this drive was bumpy, thank goodness for his 4x4 truck a late model Ford Ranger.

Overall we are very happy with our decision to book our 2 day North of Salta tour with Five Sense.

We made a great choice!
Jan 2019 • Family
I had received quotes for a tour north of Salta form my travel agent and it seemed so "Cookie Cutter". To be fair I didn't know what I wanted to see and what to avoid - that was why i wanted a guide - but guide that would tailor the tour for us. Then I found Five Senses. They work with you to design the tour and that was just what i wanted. Gareth provided excellent advice on suitable hotels to book and Eduardo our guide was friendly; knowledgeable; resourceful trustworthy and kind. We came away with incredible phots and amazing experiences. One of the highlights was eating a "street style " meal at the salt flats - we certainly needed Eduardo's language and advice for that. I didn't cope well at altitude overnight so I know now to keep things lower rather than higher. It won't stop us returning to the area and to using Five Senses again. Maybe a wine tour next time!

The best way to see Salta and Jujuy
Dec 2018 • Couples
We arranged a private tour of Salta and Jujuy with Five Senses Travel in December 2018 and it was an incredible experience. Thanks to our great tour guide (Eduardo), we not only saw the beautiful sites of the region, but also got an in-depth understanding of the people and history of the region and were immersed in the local culture. Cannot say enough good things about the tour, our guide and how happy we were to have chosen Five Senses.

Simply amazing experience in North Western Argentina
Feb 2019 • Solo
These guys really pulled one out of the bag for me! Initially booked the Puna Tour with Five Senses Travel for Feb 2019 but due to the recent rainfall we ran the risk of encountering difficulties where landslides could have cut off road access. As an alternative Gareth suggested doing a three day/two day tour down to Cafayate and a two day one trip up to Humahueca taking in part of the Andes on route (taking a one night break in Salta in between) I’m so happy with how this worked out as I got to see so much variation of this beautiful part of Argentina, the scenery on route to Cafayate was spectacular and often we stop for photos and they’d be nobody around for miles. We also stopped off a vineyard for lunch in Cafayate, not normally my thing but the tasting menu was fantastic and the scenery was majestic (Piattelli Vineyards)

Second part of the tour we went up over 4000 meters high in the Andes taking in some very remote places where Llama was on the menu for lunch. We saw plenty of stunning scenery including salt plains on route to Quebrada de Humahueca where we stayed overnight. I felt this really complimented the first tour as I got to see a completely different side to the North West

I saw loads of wildlife on the trips including condors, turkey vultures, llamas, guanacos, vicuñas and even saw a tarantula run across the road and a large rodent scurrying along

Really can’t thank Gareth for organizing everything and to our guide Jose for his patience - really can’t recommend these guys enough!!! Thank you!!!

Wonderful tour of the region
Feb 2019 • Couples
Five Senses put together an amazing four day custom tour for us - including Cachi, Colome, Cafayate (and all the scenery in between), and then on to Purmamarca and the stunning landscapes north of Salta.

It's hard to choose the most amazing part (the Turrell Museum at Colome, Salinas Grande, or an amazing picnic lunch after a Llama trek), but our trip had it all.

And most importantly (given we spent four days together) - our guide Toqui was incredible. Full of knowledge about the region, incredibly helpful and friendly, and a fun guy to hang out with.

Highly recommend.
