About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- babarali540 contributionsAVOID THESE GUYS!These guys confirmed my trip a couple of times leading up to the date, which I booked months in advance then 12 hours before they sent a notice that it has been cancelled without any reason, and have not been responding to me for a few days or Viator. Not weather related or anything (it's perfect weather). Extremely unprofessional and now I'm left scrambling to figure out hotels and everything back in Mendoza during the busy season. Insane! Don't plan your trip around these guys!Written December 22, 2024
- V1085UAdennisg0 contributionsPerfect horseback riding tour! The tour was the highlight of our stay in Mendoza. José and his family were amazing and very friendly. They have their heart in the right place. The whole project is based on the love and dedication to Mendoza. Highly recommended!Written November 12, 2024
- O5763AVphilipph0 contributionsBreathtakingThis was an amazing experience. The hosts were wonderful! And not to mention the food. 12/10 would recommend doing this when visiting the area.Written November 11, 2024
- crsofi0 contributionsHighly recommended by a solo traveler womanJose, my tour guide, was one of the most wonderful and educated people I’ve ever met. The connection with nature that I experienced was exactly what I was looking for, the food was great and the attention was impeccable. The days I spent here could be the best days of my life. As a female solo traveler it was very important for me to feel comfortable at all times and I felt like I was with family all along. I highly recommend this tour, it was life changing.Written March 14, 2024
- 303cornelial0 contributionsBeautiful place, nice people and great experienceThe ranch is located next to the Andes, about 2,5 hours away from Medoza city. The pickup from town worked perfectly. The horses and all the other animals are very well taken care of. José makes sure that the horses get enough rest and food during multiple day trips and he trained them so well that even beginners with no experience in riding feel safe all the time. Would book another tour without hesitation!Written February 23, 2024
- 303cornelial0 contributionsExperience the Andes in a simple and unforgettable wayIf you want to experience the Andes in a pure and adventurous way, this trip is the one for you. You will ride over mountains, see different landscapes, eat delicious food next to a bonfire, sleep under the milky way and spend a lot of time away from civilization. José and Leandro made us feel comfortable from the first moment and shared a lot of knowledge about horses and the life in the Andes. They are fun people but still will give you your space to enjoy the slow rythm and calmness of nature. Don't miss this opportunity!Written February 23, 2024
- Y8569JGadamw0 contributionsAn amazing experience! We are a family of 4, beginners at riding and had an amazing time - it was everything we hoped it would be and more! We were collected on time from our accommodation in Godoy Cruz for a 2 hour transfer to the ranch, where we had a lovely breakfast and met the 2 other riders. Jose then took us all for a long ride along easy trails in the foothills with beautiful views in all directions. Then we had a generous, relaxing lunch of fresh steak and salad and plenty of wine, grilled by the river while condors were flying over. An amazing experience!Written January 9, 2024
- Sunshine417238035720 contributionsAn amazing experience off the grid with beautiful sure-footed horses and knowledgeable guideWonderful experience riding in the pre-cordillera of the Andes. Remote but comfortable, Jose is a fantastic horseman and knows these mountains well. He’s also an excellent cook. Everything was wonderfulWritten November 28, 2023
- coralinev50 contributionsAuthentic, simple and peaceful. My boyfriend and I booked a three-day tour with José. We were complete riding beginners and really appreciated the tour. At our request, José taught us to trot and gallop on the second day as we felt more confident. After visiting Buenos Aires and the city of Mendoza, we really appreciated being away from the city, disconnecting from everything and connecting with nature, horses and dogs. A special mention for the food: José cooks very well and vegetarian on request. We highly recommend it and will certainly be back. To sum up: The place is simple but perfect to disconnect and feel part of nature.Written November 17, 2023
- evangelinag3530 contributionsThe best experienceExcelent riding, views, asado, friendly people!. It was magic! Differents circuits to ride. Thanks very muchWritten September 27, 2023
- emilylyntonsmith0 contributionsAn incomparable trip of a lifetime. From start to finish, Jose and his team were friendly, communicative, and ready to make our experience as memorable and easy going as possible. We were reached out to on Whatsapp to confirm our pickup and then were driven to the ranch where Jose had a delicious meal prepared for us at his home, which was accompanied by a local bottle of wine. After eating and discussing our prefrences for our three day trip, Jose and his team got the horses ready while we relaxed by the scenic river on his property. Each day we rode for about two hour increments with meals prepared by Jose inbetween. All of the food was nutritious, authentic, tasty, and filling. In the evening, Jose prepared our sleeping arrangements on the range; on pads and sleeping bags either in a tent or under the stars, depending on our preference. The scenery, company, and overall experience of the entire trip exceeded our expectations, and I am ready to fly back to do a longer trip with Rancho El Rosario. Thank you to everyone who was involved in making this experience possible! All the best - Emily, Olivia, and GregWritten March 19, 2023
- josebR3340LV0 contributions10/10 experienceThis was by far the best part of our trip to Mendoza. We were taken about 2 hours from the city center by car and spent the entire day in a remote farm in the foothills of the mountains. This experience offered us a peek into the life of the gaucho - enjoying the wilderness on horseback and witnessing breathtaking views of the Andes in the distance, followed by an asado, fantastic conversation and music with the group who run the property. We can’t stop talking about how it was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had, let alone on this trip. This was not some boring stroll as another commenter posted, nor were the horses malnourished. We had a very spirited ride through the foothills, and afterwards, were served local vintages. This is rough country and not for the Disney World crowd. Highly recommend.Written March 16, 2023
- Cruiser247373488030 contributionsThis tour is a no-pressure, relaxed and enjoyable trip, I cannot recommend this enoughI cannot put into words how amazing this trip made me feel, hopefully, some photos and video will show you! This was where I slowed down to the pace of the Gaucho, and where I have the best night’s sleep ever, just to add it was open air and under the stars. Rancho El Rosario is in a beautiful location at the foot of the Andes in the Uco Valley, or Valle de Uco. . The Uco Valley is widely considered one of the top wine regions in Mendoza, and all of Argentina. It is truly worth a few days on horseback to explore some of the Andes. The ranch sits on a modest 87,000 acres of unspoilt nature. There are 25 well-trained horses, 100 cattle, dogs, cats, chickens and more. All roam freely grazing on the property. José, the host, a third-generation ranch operator is a natural horseman, his quiet nature is reflected in the many animals surrounding the ranch, the moment you arrive you feel peace and tranquillity. . Once you immerse yourself into the remote foothills of the Andes, the breathtaking scenery opens up, I enjoyed a Gaucho asado, some overnight camping under the stars, and most importantly, safe and fun horse riding, I truly felt great! This tour is a no-pressure, relaxed and enjoyable trip, I cannot recommend this enough, I was asked what I wanted, and what I needed and was always kept safe. I will remember this forever. The short 2-hour drive south from Mendoza in the air-conditioned private car was excellent, the little Italian setting by a gorgeous river for lunch under the shade of a willow tree was perfect, and plenty of great food for breakfast lunch and dinner, accompanied by plenty of local Malbec. 5 stars, a must-do!Written February 12, 2023
- Jennifer S0 contributionsHorrible waste of moneyThis was not at all as described. We asked for a partial refund and didnt even get a reply. We went for a boring walk on the horses, drove over 5.5 hours in a hot car (40 degrees celcius out!) with zero air conditioning and zero english. It is NOT close to Mendoza. They had another completely beginner group with us (promised it was a private day with only us and we would be able to work cattle and rope. We ride horses every day at home and are very experienced, we wanted to avoid a beginner ride and spent $900 for the day to do this!) . He left me at the back to help the beginner riders (whos horses were so hungry they would not leave the grass or go in the right direction) The guide is not fluent in english and treats his horses very badly. They are skinny, grouchy and he couldnt even be bothered to have them shod properly. My daughters horse only had one loose shoe on and we were worried he wouldnt even make the 2 hour ride. Yes $900 for 2 hours! A horse died on the path the day before so we couldnt take the normal trail. The guide himself (Jose) seemed to act like we were a huge bother and couldnt wait for us to leave. Do not go with this outfit! A huge waste of money and so sad to see the horses treated like this. 😢Written February 10, 2023
- Isobel T0 contributionsMust do!We had an amazing day trekking the beautiful landscapes of the Andes on horseback! José was a great host who greeted us with breakfast and later offered an authentic Argentinian BBQ lunch. An unforgettable experience! We highly recommend.Written January 22, 2023
