Hassle-free pickup and round-trip transport from Mendoza
What to expect
A comfortable, air-conditioned coach will collect you at your Mendoza hotel and head out for the Pan-American Highway. As you cruise towards the Chilean border, learn about the region's cultural and natural features through your expert guide's insightful commentary. The urban architecture of Mendoza will give way to rolling wine country grape vines and eventually mountain peaks as you travel. Potrerillos will be your first stop, where you can get some fresh air, purchase a snack, and admire the lake, the Embalse de Potrerillos. Your next stop is Uspallata, a charming mountain town with abundant alpine views and an opportunity to purchase lunch. Back on the bus, you'll reach Puente del Inca about 60 minutes later. This natural rock bridge over the Vacas River was once visited by Charles Darwin, and its swirls of colored rock make for great photos. There's a small community living nearby that has handmade native goods for sale. Continue heading west towards Chile's border and Aconcagua. Argentina is the location of the largest mountain in the Americas, clocking in at 22,840 feet (6,960 meters.) The coach will stop at a scenic overlook for wonderful views and photo opportunities as the guide fills you in on information about the mountain itself. Pichueta, a site of indigenous Huarpe ruins dating from the 5th century, is your last stop. After that the coach will head back down the Pan-American highway the way it came, delivering you back to your Mendoza hotel around 7 pm.

Incredible tour with outstanding guide.
Feb 2021
I really recommend this to anyone wanting to try a different experience. You'll see all the beautiful sights Mendoza has to offer while receiving the best guidance from the best guides. In our case, it was Andrea. She's incredibly passionate about her city, she made us really fall in love with it. This trip is incredible because it's unique, you'll see Embalse Potrerillos where you'd feel calm and relaxed and ofc you'd take amazing pictures. Then you'll head out on another 1-hour ride to Aconcagua where you'll start the adventure. The trail is really easy to walk through, and you'll enjoy nature at its best.

You'll end this adventure with Puente del Inca which is really a historic point and worth-while visiting.

In summer, the temperatures in Aconcagua can go down to 0 celsius with big wind, so you better bring suitable clothing and also do not forget your sunscreen, you'll be exposed directly to the sun for about 3 hours.

Very Worthwhile Day Trip with Excellent Guide
Feb 2020
This review of the Andes Day Trip has been long overdue. The reason why I am finally writing this, is because this tour of the Andes was one of my favourite memories of Argentina. In this regard, I was fortunate enough to tour Argentina just before the COVID-19 outbreak there.

A huge benefit with this company, was that I got picked up & dropped off exactly where I was staying. Their mini-bus picked me up a little later than I was initially informed, however, I soon found out that being late was not an unusual occurrence in Argentina. The other travellers, who were all South American, were usually late getting back on the bus from our various stops & so this was just something to be expected. The only reason I'm mentioning this is to let fellow travellers know not to panic if their mini-van doesn't arrive exactly on time.

The trip covered a lot of distance, so it was a pretty full day: 12 hours worth! We made a number of stops to various landmarks on the way to & from the Principal Cordillera of the Andes.

There were lots of opportunities for photo ops & our tour guide Hernán was not only a great guide, but was kind enough to give everyone enough time to take in the scenic sites & even help us with some photo taking. What impressed me the most about Hernán, however, was the extra effort he made to ensure that I didn't miss out on anything. This was a lot more work for him for just one person, given that I was the only English speaking tourist. He would first provide all the information in Spanish and then very patiently explain everything to me in English right after. Give this man a raise!
One of my favourite scenic points of interest was at a lookout point close to the entrance of Aconcagua National Park. From there we were able to get a nice view (albeit from a distance), of Mount Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere.

Of course, the main highlight of this trip was reaching the mountain peak where the historical monument Christ the Redeemer of the Andes, was located high in the Principal Cordillera on the border between Argentina and Chile. The views of the mountains surrounding that area were beautiful & being able to see both Argentinian & Chilean sides, was quite special. I have to say that the dramatic drive on the narrow winding roads to ascend & descend that mountain, made the trip & scenery even more incredible. Incidentally, it was extremely windy on top, so I would bring a windbreaker with a hood. Do not wear a baseball cap up there -- it will fly off (like mine did).

There were plenty of bathroom stops & so I would strongly recommend bringing your own toilet paper or Kleenex in addition to hand sanitizer (which is probably what most people will be carrying now).

Let's hope that things get back to normal soon, so people can travel freely again & not miss out on seeing new & amazing sights like the ones on this wonderful Andes Day Trip!

Seeing Acongagua takes your breath away.
Feb 2020
We went to see the Andes with Leandro and Nico from Trout & Wine. Leandro was full or fascinating information about the mountains and the cultures that surround them. Aconcagua takes your breath away, figuratively and literally. The park where you see the great mountain is at 9,000 feet. Nico was our driver and boy howdy, does he know how to handle those mountain roads. At one point we had thought about driving up to the park ourselves. Mighty glad we let Nico do the driving and Leandro narrate our way up and back. As with Valeria, Leandro and Nico were very considerate of what I could and couldn't do. I felt totally safe with them. If you are planning on a trip to Mendoza, be sure to schedule a tour with Trout & Wine. You will learn so much about this part of Argentine. You will eat and drink well. (The barbecue we had for lunch after seeing Aconcagua was delicious. Leandro even supplied the wine!) You will meet people who share your passion for travel. And you will be in the company of gracious staff who love sharing their country's geography, culture and cuisine. If I could give them more than five stars, I would.

Awesome tour with amazing tour guide!
Mar 2020 • Couples
I took this tour with my husband and mother-in-law. We all had the most amazing time. Our tour guide, Estoban and driver Marcella were excellent. Estoban’s knowledge of the history of the Andes and Argentina in general was just fascinating. His enthusiasm gives you chill bumps. We had several nice stops along the way and were given ample time at each place. He welcomed questions and answered each one in great detail. He did the tour in English and Spanish which was nice. He was so helpful and made sure everyone was safe and enjoyed themselves. . I highly recommend this tour!

Spectacular and stunning views from the top of the mountain
Dec 2019
The thing that makes this tour just above average is the stunning views at the very top of the mountain with crisp air, deep blue skies and views into the distance. The rest is, Im afraid to say, not that interesting. But start at the beginning. The marketing advised that this tour is in a small group with a maximum of 15. On our truck there were 22 people. It mwant were were sitting much more closely than we woudl have liked. The truck is big, monster sized and you do have to climb up into it. But at the same time the seats are narrow, do not support you very well and being a truck does not have great suspension to cushion you from the bumps in the road nor going over the rough terrain which inevitably you have to in order to get to the top of the mountain. So if you suffer from a bad back think hard as to whether this is suitable for you, not from the exertion but the jolting to your back. And dont sit near the back, it is worse.
Another thing to bear in mind, although there are stops, no water is provided on the truck, so bring your own and there is no toilet in it either. Stoips are few and the time between them is significant.
Next the starting time. We were told to be ready between 730am and 815. However the actual start time is when ALL the travellers have been picked up from each of their hotels so we were already sitting on the truck for an hour before we actually headed out of Mendoza on our way.
Whilst the stops were welcome this was not at any quaint or quentissentially Mendozan village but rudimentary isolated toruisty shops/come cafe type places. Not a problem but mananging our expectations. On the way down from the mountain we stopped at a restaurant for a simple meal. The food was simple but delicious and unbelievably cheap.
Another tip worth mentioning is to bring warm clothes for the mountain top as it is very very cold. We were not advised of this and we were rattling from the cold. Thankfully there is a shop at the top of the mountain and we made a mad dash to buy a poncho and a woollen hat to wear and a cup of coffee too!
There is no doubt it is the mountain that makes this tour, everything else pales to insignidicance. The views are breathtaking with Chile on one side and Argentina on the other side, peaks in the distance. Awe inspiring and beautiful and the ride up and down it around hairpin bends on cliff edges was almost heartstopping at times but quite exhilirating, not good if you are afraid of heights.

An excellent day out
Nov 2019
We were in Mendoza primarily to visit the wineries but wanted to see something of the Andes at close hand, and this turned out to be a perfect solution. We were picked up from our hotel in Chacras de Coria at about 8:45 and returned at about 7:00. Our guide was Dario and our driver Wally. Dario was a wonderful guide both in terms of giving us a running commentary, and of looking after the less able members of the group. Wally was a friendly and safe driver. We stopped at the Potrerillos Reservoir, the Oasis town of Uspallata, and went to the Aconcagua Provincial Park for what was the highlight of the day, a couple of hours walking towards Aconcagua itself. The walk was very easy although you would be recommended to wear decent walking shoes. After our walk we had an enjoyable lunch in the Portezuelo del Viento mountain hostel, drove on to the border with Chile, before returning to our hotel via the ‘Inca Bridge’. We were treated to spectacular scenery both during the bus ride and in the Aconcagua PP, and we can thoroughly recommend this trip between wine tasting trips.

Solo trip to Alta Montañas
Nov 2019 • Solo
I would recommend this trip for couples/travelling in group as I was the only solo traveller and the others kept to themselves. The pictures of this trip do not do it justice, the mountains and sights are incredible. We had roughly 6 stops during the trip, some are merely viewpoints and some we stayed roughly 30mins. The lunch buffet was fantastic, 3 courses for 450pesos. The only downside to the trip is that it was a very long day and the journey back was very tiring as there aren’t stops so it feels like hours before arriving back in Mendoza. Nonetheless, I would recommend this trip for those who want to see the beautiful landscape that surrounds Mendoza.
