      A highlight of our trip.
We recently enjoyed a scrumptious meal and a wonderful evening with Juan and Marina. They reached out before the evening to ensure we were able to find their home. From the moment we arrived at their home they made us feel like special guests and new best friends at the same time. They greeted us with homemade pizza and endless delicious wine. Juan, who is a chef by training, showed us how to prepare empanadas and other appetizers from scratch. We had so much fun getting our hands dirty and kneading the dough. We were taught how to season beef properly and slow cook it on the outside wood and coal barbeque. We sat down to a delicious meal and felt very comfortable in their home. The food was delicious, probably the best beef and pork we have ever eaten and cooked to perfection. It was a highlight of our trip to Argentina and we did not want the evening to end. They made some excellent suggestions for other restaurants and things to do while in town. We very highly recommend this unique experience and we will definitely visit again when we return to Buenos Aires.

Like having dinner with old friends
Our cooking class with Juan and Marina was one of the highlights of our time in Buenos Aires. They reached out ahead of time, to connect and again as we got closer, to be sure we knew how to find their home. They were very accommodating of our time constraints and even made some adjustments for us and had everything laid out and organized. We were welcomed with big hugs and delicious food. We enjoyed making the empanada dough and then filling it with something delicious they had prepared ahead of time. The empanadas were fried but not at all greasy. We loved preparing and tasting the different sauces and learning about how to cook the asado. Seriously, some of the best meat ever. Sure, the food was AMAZING but what made the experience were the people. Juan and Marina are so friendly and interesting and we had such easy conversation with them. We left feeling like we had new friends in Buenos Aires. Thank you!

      Warm and friendly instructor
I appreciated that Gabby reached out to us, as soon as we booked and we even met over Zoom. She was friendly and warm and willing to help with anything we needed. We had good directions to her home and she was waiting outside to meet us. We enjoyed our walk and visit to the market but we enjoyed the empanada class more. She prepared a snack for us, before we began and she had most of the ingredients prepped and ready for us to assemble. We learned different ways to fold the dough and how to tell what is inside, based on the fold. I think we made 3 or 4 different fillings. They were all tasty but unfortunately, we got talking and the last type was a bit burned. Our 2-3 hour experience turned into 6 hours and we left feeling like we were old friends.

      Great experience!!
Five friends and family had a great time with Constanza and her husband Manolo. The class was in their home which made it more special. We really enjoyed watching Manolo cook the bbq and we learned a lot about the different cuts of meat and experienced some new tastes. The only drawback was the long distance to their home. Constanza helped guide our taxis. I highly recommend this class.

This was our favorite travel experience so far.
This was a fantastic way to experience Argentinian cuisine. Our host Josephina and her partner were most friendly and outgoing. She walked us through the creation of a multi course Argentinian menu while he ensured we always had full wine and drink glasses. The meal was fantastic and the company and conversation even better. We learned so much about Buenos Aires from a local perspective. We left feeling like we had spent the evening with friends. We would highly recommend this experience, especially with the hosts we had.

      A true family delicious afternoon!
We traveled to B.A. in December before a trip to Antarctica and arrived on the day Argentina  won the world cup.  It was such an electric and amazing experience to be there and celebrate victory with the locals. But by far, the best experience we had in B.A. was our time with Connie and her husband, Monolo.  They welcomed us into their home and treated us as family.  They picked us up at our hotel and returned us with very safe and reliable transportation.   Their home is situated in a very safe gated community with amazing architecture of the homes.  Their backyard lani setting truly felt like a resort.  Inside their kitchen, we donned our aprons and went to work.  Corn empanadas were on the menu, and they were absolutly delishus.  Connie was patient and educational, and immersed us into the history of Aregentina and their local customs.  But then the real show began.  Monolo showed us their parrilla and we started to experience a true asado via a cooking technique called a “la parrilla”.  Wood fired smokey delish meats included chorizos, steaks, chittlings (which was absolutly amazing) and black pudding.  My takeaway was the wonderful local wines they paired the meal with and they also cooked and served and the provoleta cheese, along with baguettes that were perfectly cooked with our meal. Very fair pricing for our experience in a loving home – I highly recommend and will be back again one day--- Thank you, Connie and Monolo !

Incredible cooking and grilling experience outside of Buenos Aires with a friendly Argentine couple!
My boyfriend and I had an amazing time with Constanza and Manolo. We learned how an Argentine asado is setup and how to cook different cuts of meats. We also learned how to make corn empanadas, which I haven’t had before. The recipe was so simple and the empanadas turned out so delicious, I can’t wait to make them when we are back in NYC. Constanza and Manolo were such generous and welcoming hosts. Their home is impeccable. My boyfriend and I learned so much during our time with Constanza and Manolo. This was an unforgettable experience. Thank you!

      Empanada Heaven
What a fun night! Gaby was truly a wonderful teacher and her husband was a fantastic host. They have a great apartment in an excellent part of Buenos Aires with a massive terrace. It was a little warm the night we were there, so we stayed indoors more, but so nice to have the terrace. Gaby really knows what she is doing and understands how to teach the art of making empanadas to completely novice cooks. She is effusive, fun and friendly and most of all very patient. She covered all aspects from prep to start to how to cook different stages and cool prior to serving. Best of all, her recipes for the dough and filling were absolutely wonderful and we enjoyed eating them as much as any restaurant we have experienced here in the city. Finally maybe one of the best aspects of the whole night was getting to sit and have a wonderful dinner discussion with wine and laughter in their home. It truly felt like a warm family/friend dinner because we were in their home and enjoying the experience. We strongly recommend this class and evening for anyone looking for a true and authentic experience!

      Great cooking and conversation
There were two couples in our group and we were welcomed warming by Florencia upon arrival in her attractive apartment and wonderful kitchen. We quickly doned aprons and got to work, first making empanada dough and then filling the empanadas. We all appreciated how Flor demonstrated different techniques and then mentored us as we did our pastry work. Flor is an excellent teacher and fun to be with, which made for a great evening. We would all recommend Flor's class as a wonderful introduction to some of Argentina's best foods--empanadas and alfajores.

      Great Class!!
Shirly is so sweet and knowledgeable. She was so patient with everyone and also very welcoming. We really loved seeing her home, learning from her and of course making empanadas!! We will definitely take all that we learned and make this back home. I can’t say enough good things about Shirly. If you like to cook or just want a fun new experience I would highly recommend taking this class!!

Cooking and dining with Juan and Marina
Asado cooking with Juan and Marina was a once in a lifetime experience. They were welcoming into their home and provided us with a hands on experience as we wanted. Because of their help I look forward to hosting a dinner party with friends to prepare Panchoripan dough and and other appetizers we learned.

Our Traveling Spoon experience in Buenos Aires with Juan and Marina was one of the highlights of our trip. They are both excellent hosts and instructors. The food was so delicious, that I even want to add some of their recipes to our Thanksgiving Dinner! Thank you for making our trip that much more memorable!

    * JUAN AND MARINA *

Without a doubt, this was the best night that we spent in Buenos Aires. These two are the most warm, gorgeous couple to spend an evening with. Juan and Marina are so kind and welcoming - we felt instantly at home as soon as we walked into their lovely house and were offered a drink. We spent a whole evening with them learning about traditional Argentinian cooking (especially the magic of the BBQ). One of us was gluten-free and both of them had gone above and beyond to accommodate that.  Excellent wine, fantastic food and even better company! Would come back and visit them in a heartbeat - thanks both x
