About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 65gustavon0 contributionsPremier tango show in townBeautiful, classical theater venue. Great meal- tasty creamy onions and leeks soup, bife de chorizo (NY strip), and a desert tasting assortment. With good Malbec wine. Beautiful show with a lot of variety, and amazing exhibit of energy and enthusiasm by a troupe that performs twice daily 7 days a week (!). Outstanding band - piano, bass, violins, and bandoneones. Good singer.Written March 12, 2025
- 816vald0 contributionsExcellent show and food definately worth doing yWould highly recommend this show we had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the show! Food exceeded our expectations given the amount of people there! Our steaks were ginormous and well cooked. The waiters also kept the drinks flowing. Excellent value for moneyWritten March 10, 2025
- 420shiven0 contributionsA grand experienceThe trip included a transfer from my hotel and back, the shuttle was clean and the driver was friendly. The theater is something to really take in, a rather grand setting. The 3 course meal was very good and exceeded my expectations. All drinks were included, carry cash to tip the helpful staff. The show itself was amazing and highly recommended when in Buenos Aires. Overall a very well put together experience.Written February 26, 2025
- R9067RQkevins0 contributionsOutstanding show—fantastic valueThe show was outstanding—very entertaining and captivating. The musicians were fun to watch and the dancers extraordinary. We had low expectations for the meal, but it was surprisingly good—“one of the best (and largest!) steaks I’ve had in years. Wine/beer was unlimited, and pick-up and drop off at hotel was flawless. All in all, very well worth it and a great value.Written February 25, 2025
- mickbW9836JP0 contributionsAmazing show!!! Must do!!!Great dinnershow! The music, the dancers and the food where amazing. - deb-terr0 contributionsWhat a Sensational Experience! My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful meal and tango show at this venue! We opted for the VIP experience which meant that we had not only the best seats in the theatre, but several different menu and wine choices! And the best part...what an incredible tango performance with a live orchestra!Written February 24, 2025
- Carlos M0 contributionsA must when your in Buenos AiresIt was exceptional show, service and food. It was my birthday and I couldn't have gotten a better present from my husbandWritten February 23, 2025
- Steven L0 contributionsA Tango spectacular!Don't worry about this show being a tourist trap. It's a spectacular way to enjoy the passionate music and incredible talents of the performers and musicians in a theatrical setting that rivals the best Las Vegas offering. WOW!Written February 17, 2025
- Georgina H0 contributionsHighly recommendThis was excellent. Pick up from hotel. Dinner great and ad lib wine. The show was outstanding. Excellent dancing and the music accompaniment great. Highly recommend.Written February 15, 2025
- Pam O0 contributionsAmazing! This was so much better than we thought it would be!! The service, the food, the music, the dancing - all of it was amazing! FYI - There is an opportunity to tip at the end with only cash. Our people were amazing and deserved it! 5 starsWritten February 13, 2025
- Earthwalker490 contributionsRecommended Even if Not a Beef EaterWonderful show and a good dinner for meat lovers (I am not one). All in all a very good experience. Excellent dancers and band.Written February 11, 2025
- its-wat_it_is0 contributionsBring your night vision goggles to see a theatrical showMore of a theatrical dance show than Tango. The stage is lit very dim and therefore it is hard to appreciate the show. The dimly lit stage and difficulty in seeing the show is compounded by where you are seating. For us, the location was the main attraction, but would suggest researching to find a better Tango show than one that leans more on the theatrics. We did not have dinner as most have terrible food and service.Written February 8, 2025
- Kiwijen20140 contributionsA great eveningExceeded expectations. Dinner was well presented and better than anticipated. Show was spectacular. Pick up and return to apartment worked perfectly.Written January 20, 2025
- Connector6633680 contributionsDancing show was fabulous and the bolero sequence astonishing. Biggest steak I ever ate!Food was delicious it was the largest steak I have ever been served or have eaten. The mix of people at our table were varied and interesting from all over the world . The dancing was exquisite and the numbers well choreographed. Singers and soloists were wonderful and the bolero sequence would have stolen the show however, the musicians earned that honor! The dueling violins were animated, talented and fun to watch. Ditto the other musicians pianist, bass player and the two women playing klezmers(?) (accordions). It was amazing! The pick up from hotel and return to the hotel were seamless and well orchestrated. Bravo!Written January 19, 2025
- WTBManila0 contributionsA wonderful dinner experienceOk it does appear that if you don’t pay for dinner you might get short changed but for those that do, the dinner was really pretty good with limitless drinks of perfectly good quality and the show (which I was not looking forward to - was going because wife and daughter wanted to) was really most impressive. I loved it and really hadn’t expected to.Written January 6, 2025

The venue for the tango show was very luxurious. Various dances were performed during the show. There were dances I had never seen in Japan, and each one was wonderful. However, I didn't understand the overall story of the show, so it didn't really click with me. I wonder if this is what a tango show is like...
Tickets purchased directly from the Tango Porteño website, which included the show, free drinks, and hotel transfers, were a good value for money. Just for your reference.

The music quality was exceptional. The dance was big, on a big stage, very "produced" and was very good. It was tourist oriented, selling photos of patrons. While I prefer a smaller venue, the cost of "show only" was quite reasonable and close to my hotel. Worth the cost for "show only".

Not being interested in dinner, I opted for the show-only ticket and I think I made the right choice. Everything is well organized and managed: at the agreed time you are accompanied to the top of the room where you can take a seat freely. The top view is perfect.
Show definitely tourist, but scenic, I loved it.
I recommend medium formal wear, after all we are in the theater.

The Impression is that the show is 110% for those who paid for dinner, and those who chose to just watch is getting a favor (probably the most expensive in history) from the establishment.
The spectator chairs on the second floor have the view extremely hampered by an unnecessary iron bar, which causes a domino effect: the person in the first row needs to go down to see something, making the second one need to raise the neck well, and the third one need to stand. In addition, some parts of the show are entirely interactive with the audience of the meal, leaving the upper floor audience with a bizarre empty stage for considerable minutes.
The show itself also does not charm, with little plot being developed and much time spent on repetitive and unintended steps, leading to the drowsiness of a minimally demanding viewer. The cherry of the cake stays with the staff rushing you to leave the place and slash in the cold of the street as quickly as possible at the end of the "show", contrasting quite with the receptivity of the beginning.
Finally, the definition of "capture vacationer". Bad experience with what should be one of the main attractions of Buenos Aires.

THE production Tango show to see in Buenos Aires. This production is 120 minutes of non stop, high energy entertainment. You can buy "show only" tickets online but we booked the show only at the ticket office for approx $40 each. The Tango Porteno is located next to the Teatro Colon so it is easy to find. THURSDAY is the best (least crowded) day. We sat VERY close to the stage even though we did not buy the meal. You do NOT need "skip the line" services, nor do you need transportation. Uber is cheap in BA, and so are taxis. My brother and I went to a Tango show because we thought we should do a Tango show while in Buenos Aires for 10 days. We were truly amazed at the quality of every production number. This is a MUST DO and not a "should do" activity while in BA. Worth every penny.

An amazing, budget-friendly tango experience in Buenos Aires.
Here is some information about our experience on the night.
Firstly, we ordered our tickets online on the day. They were about £25 each without dinner as we were on a stricter budget. There was a dress code specified on the tickets but as we were backpacking, we wore Birkenstocks and Reebok trainers and had no issues.
We saw other reviews saying it was ‘first come first serve’ but that wasn’t the case as when we were sat down, there were tables in our section closer to the stage that were filled after we arrived. Your table number is specified on your ticket so I think it is generated when you book. We were seated on the ground floor right towards the back but the view was still good - I only had to shuffle a few times if the people in front of me shifted their positions.
We ordered a bottle of wine which was about $18,000 pesos (£12) which lasted us the evening. You could also order food without the dinner option which looked great.
Tango dancers walk around for pictures. We personally chose not to do this as we had heard it would be expensive to buy them afterwards. We only saw one group buy the pictures and they didn’t seem particularly cheap so be prepared.
Overall, it was an incredible experience and we would recommend it to anyone!

Anyone who comes to Buenos Aires MUST watch a show like this.
It is beautiful, complete and very well done! There's acting, music and of course a lot of dance.
Cons:
The menu prices are obviously absurd. I paid 30 reais for a lemonade.
I ordered a dessert that was only delivered at the end of the show and they were still hurrying us out of the theater.
They keep speeding up to get out of the theater at the end. If you're in a hurry to finish, then start early or at the agreed time as the show is delayed by about 20 minutes or more.

The show is supposed to start at 9.30pm but at 10pm and throughout the show they were still serving dinner which is supposed to start at 8.30. Then despite being told not to film, many stupid people with cellphones held them high above their heads ( in vertical format, doh!) to video throughout, ruining the experience for people behind, who just see a lot of bright screens instead of the real thing. Maybe not the fault of the operators, but they could at least try to enforce the rules. For me, a waste of money and this is not cheap ! The sound system is overbearing as well.

We bought the show only (skipped the dinner) and got there 15 minutes before the start so were far back from the stage. I would have preferred to be closer but still enjoyed the show very much. There was a lot of Tango but they also had a few singers and a live orchestra that was very entertaining,
It was super-touristy but worth seeing.

Very nice show, poor table management with rude waiters and constant requests: photos, payments, tips. Noisy public poorly managed by staff. There was no due silence and respect for the dancers and for those who wanted to listen to good music. Very good orchestra as well as the singer.

Hi there, we bought a ticket for the show tomorrow night but it says on the voucher that was emailed to us that the voucher cannot be presented at the venue. Please can you advise where we collect the tickets from? Do we have to go to a box office or something? Thank you
