A Great Start to our Buenos Aires Trip
Mar 2020
We started the night with a private lesson on how to dance the Tango with Claudio. Claudio was so patient and a great teacher. Then we moved to the kitchen with Saul where we spent the next 4 hours with Saul making an authentic Argentinian dinner all from scratch with the freshest and highest quality meats, veggies and spices. Saul is a master in the kitchen and loves sharing his passion. We cooked, talked, laughed and ate together in his in-home professional kitchen. It was such a fun night and we didn't want it to end! We left with recipes, new cooking skills and dance moves to share when we get home! We highly recommend it if you're looking for an authentic Argentinian experience.

Highly recommended
Christine and I had a really enjoyable tango class ( despite our lack of dancing ability) . Then we had a fabulous cooking class with Saul . We’d booked as gluten free ( Christine is coeliac ), but that had been inadvertently overlooked . Saul was very apologetic, and was totally unfazed and flexible - and instead of the pastry he’d intended to make, found in his kitchen a variety of gluten free flours to make a GF one. He regarded it as a bit of a ‘last minute’ creative challenge , and cooked up a fabulous pastry for empanadas and a quiche. The main course and dessert were really excellent too.
With the evening being in Saul’s home, and his warm and engaging nature - and a great red wine - it felt like we were at a friends dinner party rather than a class ! A lovely evening and highly recommended.

We loved this so much, we did it twice!!!!
Apr 2019 • Friends
Taking Saul's private cooking class combined with tango lesson was a highlight of our 2 1/2 week adventure to Argentina!

We arrived to Saul's home with a warm greeting and an introduction to our delightful Tango instructor Trina. My friend and I both joke that we have "two left feet," but we finished our lesson with not only an appreciation for the beauty of the Argentinian tango, but we actually were able grasp the basics we were taught.

Next came cooking.....yum!!! With Saul educating and instructing us, we created a enjoyed an Argentinian meal including beef empanadas, steak and chimicurri (with roasted potatoes, of course 😃), dulce de leche rum semifredo....and of course wine! Saul is not only a great instructor but a wonderful host. We loved this day so much we modified the menu and came back a second time with my mother and her companion to do it all again!

We ALL recommend this authentic Argentinian experience!

I made several of Saul's recipes with in a week of my return to home....almost as good...Thank you Saul!!!!

An Excellent Day in Buenos Aires
Apr 2019 • Couples
My wife and I had an extra day in Buenos Aires and were looking for something authentic and engaging to enjoy. We signed up for the El Arte de Amasar experience and couldn't be happier with the outcome. It may seem somewhat strange to combine Tango and cooking, but Saul, our host and cooking instructor has created a beautiful space within his home that merges both worlds. Half of the space is a very nice dance floor, while the other half is a very professional small kitchen. You begin your experience with a one-hour tango lesson, taught by a very capable (and patient) dance teacher. Even if you are not a great dancer, she will manage to get you looking pretty good! After the lesson you are treated to wine and snacks, and then the cooking lesson begins. I was quite surprised at how pleasant and fun Saul's lesson was - you create an entire meal, including an appetizer (empinadas), main course, side dish, and dessert. And after your efforts are complete, you get to sit with wine and Saul's company and enjoy your creation. A great eating and learning experience!

Great fun and lovely insight into Tango and Argentinan Cuisine
We really enjoyed this experience. It started with an hours Tango lesson. We’ve never tried Tango before and aren’t natural dancers, but he put us both at ease, was very encouraging, and made it fun. We actually danced a short but full tango by the end of the lesson. Then we learnt how to make empanadas, steak roasted in chimichurri, and dulce de leche and rum ice cream. Saul and Oksana were so welcoming, and let us try our hand at every stage of the cooking process. We made the dough and even learnt how to crimp it so it was identifiable as a beef empanada.
Once lunch was cooked the four of us sat together and shared a glorious bottle of Patagonian wine and ate what we had created. It was delicious! We also got a wonderful insight into life in Argentina and tips on where to go, and which were the best local milongas to watch the locals dance tango.
It was an unforgettable experience and one we can highly recommend.

Great Tango Lesson and Cooking Class
Oct 2018 • Couples
We signed up for Saul’s Tango Class/Cooking Class, not having too much an idea what to expect, but we had a great time and while we don’t always leave reviews, we very much felt his quality and professionalism deserved a write-up.

For this experience, Tango is optional. My wife wanted to try it out, and Saul invited a good friend of his who is both a professional tango dancer and teacher to teach us a few steps. He didn’t speak English, but between my Spanish and Saul’s willingness to translate if needed, we had a great time and were able to learn enough to get us started. I would also add that the teacher was extremely encouraging, so even if you’re not a dancer by nature (I’m not), you can still have a great time.

After the tango lesson was complete, we moved into the cooking class. Saul has a flat north of Palermo, and has converted it into a professional kitchen (both to feed his own passion for cooking and to support the classes he teaches). The location is super charming, intimate and very relaxed. He specializes in Argentine, Italian and French cuisine – so you may have more than one option if you spend time with him. In our case, we learned to make fresh empenadas from scratch, as well as dulce de leche and the best sirloin with chimichurri and papas I’ve ever had. He is a patient teacher, and is very friendly, funny and personal, so we both learned about him, the town, and pulled in some new cooking techniques at the same time. He also had some good recommendations for how to spend our time while in Buenos Aires. If you are looking for a cooking class that’s both a cultural experience as well as an all-around good time (and comes with some deliciously paired wine), I would strongly recommend El Arte de Amansar and Saul!
