Private Jewish Tour in Buenos Aires
$45.00
Overview
Experience the history and heritage of the world’s third largest Jewish community on this private 4-hour tour of Buenos Aires’ Jewish sites. Explore the Jewish quarter of Once and visit the magnificent Great Temple Paso synagogue, the AMIA building and the Israel Embassy Square. Learn more about the city’s Sephardic and Ashkenazi cultures at the Jewish Museum; tour the Libertad Temple, Buenos Aires’ first synagogue, and view the poignant Holocaust memorial at the Metropolitan Cathedral.
What to Expect
Meet your private guide and driver at your hotel or the cruise port at 9am to begin your tour. In a private vehicle, head to the first stop for the day, Once (Jewish Quarter). It was here that the Jewish community first settled upon arrival in Buenos Aires, and you can still see shops, synagogues, schools, theaters, and a Jewish Community Center. Together with your private guide, visit the Great Temple Paso, a synagogue built by Ashkenazi Jews.

Next, visit the new building of the Israelite Mutual Association of Argentina (AMIA), built after the original was destroyed by a terrorist attack in 1994. During your visit, lear about how this traditional institution encourages Jewish culture, preserves traditions, and promotes community development in Argentina.

Continue on to Israel Embassy Square, the site of another brutal terrorist attack in 1992. Stand in the square built on the site where the embassy once stood.

Head toward the center of Buenos Aires to visit Lavalle Square, where you will see a monument to the victims of the AMIA terrorist attack, as well as the most traditional Ashkenazi synagogue, the Libertad Temple. Follow your guide through the beautiful Byzantine temple – the first synagogue in Buenos Aires. Move next door to the Jewish Museum where you'll find objects related to the Jewish presence in the city, including religious art, menorahs, and various objects belonging to the Sephardic and Ashkenazi cultures.

Finish your tour in Plaza de Mayo, where you can visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, where you'll learn about the tribute that the Catholic church made to the city's Jewish community.

Get dropped off at your hotel or cruise port at around 1pm.

Jewish tour

Our guide was outstanding! She showed us all the sights we expected to see, but then she took us through the Jewish neighborhood and we saw daily living. The driver met us when there were long distances to travel.
