I spent an unforgettable day in Colonia yesterday. It started with the fact that from the pickup from the hotel to the return trip everything worked out great and felt wonderfully taken care of, which made the day absolutely relaxing. In Colonia, our small group of 2 was met by the guide and given very detailed and very descriptive information about the country of Urugay while we went on a tour of the historic old part of Colonia that lasted about 2 hours. Our very informed guide explained everything about the history and also answered many questions. We then had 3 hours left for our own exploration. On this day, the country Uruguay, which I knew before only from soccer, was brought very sympathetically close to me. I can highly recommend the tour. If I had done it on my own, I would not have learned so much.

It was a fun and easy way to experience Uruguay!
I did have a gist of a pick up time, they did send an update around 11:30 p.m.
The tour guide was lovely and gave some very interesting facts - when we were given free time to wander around, it did feel like we had covered most everything and I wasn't missing too much if I had I not explored. Our lunch (think due to the slower paced of the culture) was 2 out of the 3 hours of allotted time.
I really enjoyed it! I did see someone recommend to try to sit by the exit to get through immigration line quicker, also recommend the group staying together to exit as the shuttle travels with everyone. Freddo was a delicious recommendation for ice cream!

This trip was seamless from the punctual hotel pickup through to the return drop off. Professional and well organised, our guide, Alejandra, was so very knowledgeable, warm and friendly. Felt it was a bit on the expensive side but for the ease of the day it was worth it. A quiet and peaceful day learning about the history of this country, very enjoyable.

Very pretty village in Colonial style. Pick up and drop off driver was punctual and friendly - 10/10.
Tour leader in Colonia was uninspiring and the content was superficial and not insightful. In fact she was reading notes from her cellphone during the tour. We could have read about Colonia on Google and saved ourselves a lot of money. Only one hour of guided tour then 4 1/2 hours to look around the very small historic area unguided. Returning to Argentina from the ferry was a huge headache as there were few officers at immigration to process all the passengers. We had to file through suffocating tunnels for over 30 minutes before reaching immigration.
Overall, would not recommend this trip. Extremely overpriced compared to other options available. Colonia itself is worth the ferry trip but don’t pay for the “guided” tour.

During our visit to Buenos Aires in February 2020, my wife and I decided to take a day trip to Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. While this is a trip that can be done independently, we decided to make arrangements with Signature Tours—they did not disappoint! All of the transport arrangements were handled by Signature Tours and everything went smoothly the entire day.
We were picked up at our hotel at approximately 7:15am by a very friendly and helpful driver who drove us to the ferry and walked us to the check in area and provided additional instructions as to the customs/immigration process—note that passports are required.
The ferry ride on the Buquebus was quite comfortable and took approximately 1 ½ hours. Once we arrived in Colonia del Sacramento we were greeted by the very friendly Alejandra. Since it was just my wife and I, we were treated to a truly private tour. Alejandra was a wealth of information and answered all of our questions. The walking tour was well paced for approximately 2 hours. We were then able to explore the town on our own for the remainder of the afternoon. Our driver picked us up promptly at the designated meeting spot and drove us to the ferry. Back in Buenos Aires, our driver met us in person inside the terminal and we were driven directly to our hotel where we arrived safe and sound. This was an excellent day trip experience which I highly recommend to anyone who wants to explore a little piece of Uruguay.

There were 4 people in my group including the guide. The other tourist turned out to be from a city I spent 4 decades. .The guide spoke excellent English and was most knowledgeable about the city. After the tour, we had some hours before heading back to the ferry. We had a delightful meal at a riverside restaurant where I had a classic sandwich of Uruguay called a Chivito, We had time to wonder about the different Portuguese and Spanish building exploring and shopping. Not one problem.

Our day in Colonia was interesting, informative, and relaxing. Signature Tours takes care of all the details. We were met at each step by a representative who seamlessly connected all of the steps necessary to navigate the journey between the two countries. Our tour guide Alejandra was knowledgeable, personable, friendly, and interesting, and obviously passionate about her work and the country she calls home. This was a welcome and tranquil respite from the hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires, and a highlight of our trip.

Outstanding day trip. It was very well organized with one crew picking us up in BuenosAires and checking us in at the ferry, another guide meeting us in Colonia and seeing us back to the ferry, and a final guide meeting us at the ferry in BA and taking us back to the hotel. The Colonia guide, Ali, was excellent. She gave us a good introduction to Uruguay before starting the walking tour. She walked us around town, stopping at points of interest, and suggested restaurants to for lunch. We wandered, solo, for a couple more hours before it was time to get the ferry. A long day but worth the trip on the fast 1 hour ferry. The only down side is the need to go through immigration going to and from, since we are traveling from one country to the next.

Loved the trip to Colonia. We had a limited amount of time in BA, and this was high on our list. The guide was lovely, emphasizing the key elements of Uruguay's history and uniqueness. The town is lovely, just little bit of shopping (which was very nice) and all in all great value for the money. SIgnature Tours' guides are the best! knowledgeable, warm, friendly, and fun.

Very enjoyable day out. Picked up on time and driver ensured we were booked through right onto the ferry. We were met in Uruguay by the very personable and informative Ruth, who walked us though the new town but also the very picturesque old part of Colonia. Had a great lunch at the Charco bistro before meeting up with Ruth again later. Back in BA our driver was waiting and took us back to our doorstep.
Sure you can do it cheaper on your own but I preferred the no hassle and information given option.
As with other reviews, don't linger on the boat coming back into BA as the queues for immigration were quite long so get off quick!

Hi! What time is the ferry leaving and returning? How much time does it take to get through immigration and stuff?
Hi there, the ferry leaves at 08:15 AM and returns to Buenos Aires at 06:00/06:15 PM. It takes between 30 minutes to an hour to get through inmigration (it depends on the amount of people travelling that day)
