About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- kb15050 contributionsFisherman's tourVery enjoyable tour. Capt Vincent was lovely and very informative. I would recommend this trip if you don't want to spend too long on a boat. We had 30mins to walk around the island of Culatra. Small group made it even better. Definitely use this company againWritten June 5, 2023
- villamine0 contributionsStealingAvoid if you can! For a glass bottom kayak they with held the 50 e deposit for a scratch clearly done earlier.- I will withhold tips from other Portuguese establishments to the same value, and I am a good tipper, so they will effectively be stealing from themselves- other Portuguese. Pity but there you are!Written April 29, 2023
- MicheleF19680 contributions4 hour 2 stop island tourThis is a really good tour and well worth the €20. Jaoa gave a informative commentary. Definitely recommendWritten June 28, 2022
- laurabI2806VW0 contributionsDolphin tripWe did a dolphin trip today, Filipe was amazing and helpful and booked and organised the whole thing for me and even arranged us to be collected from Armona island where we're staying, Roberto and Nicolau on the boat were really helpful and friendly, within 20 mins we were with the dolphins and stayed for a while. We've done about 5 different dolphin trips and this was by far the best.Written July 8, 2021
- mslizmc0 contributionsAmazing day trip !We had a memorable day on this 4 hour trip which took in Farol,Culatra and Armona islands. Joao and the team were very informative and made it such a great experience. Visiting the islands was like stepping back in time,so laid back,no traffic and fabulous crystal clear water for swimming. Would highly recommend this trip.Written September 21, 2020

- 726lu_sa0 contributionsExcusesWe opted for the water taxi to take us to Homem Nu beach, a ticket which costs 25 euros per couple. After offloading a group on Barra Velha, the pilot advanced about 200 meters and said this was our stop. 5 euros extra for something you could walk for two minutes in foot. He excused himself with the low tide, and apologized. We scheduled a return for 4 PM, a couple that came with us on the same boat scheduled to be picked up at 2 PM. They waited for two hours for a boat to come, on a totally different place from the one we were told was the pickup point. We joined them and the group that got off at Barra Velha and only arrived at 4.30PM. The phone number on the ride ticket, was not answered, even after dozens of attempts. The boat pilot was rude when we complained. We wrote on the complaints book, while an employee tried to excuse this shoddy service by saying it happens all the time and that we were right. She also said that the phone number is useless, which is rich as they print it on the ticket saying "call us if you wish to reschedule pickup time". A poor experience, and too many excuses.Written August 20, 2020
- Amalia110 contributionsNice tour - but a bit more information and story telling, pleaseThe tour was very well organized, punctual, the guide/captain friendly and driving safely. We did already several tours with other "competitors", and we missed more critical information about what is really going on in this area, e.g. the recent conflict in the mussel plantations (French oyster producers wanted to "buy" almost the whole area, and were stopped by a wide protest movement of smallholders), the partly critical ecological situation of the area, , etc. But maybe, the average tourist doesn't want to know too much about this reality beyond the nice landscapes..Written March 12, 2020

- Marcia-DavidB0 contributionsOlhão Islands TourAn excellent afternoon. Would highly recommend this trip. Trip was booked via Real Marina Hotel & Spa by Filip, who also met us quay side prior to boarding. Our guide was fluent in 5 languages and gave a detailed commentary about the islands. Value for money. Excellent- Well Done !!!!!Written February 27, 2020

- MaryK410 contributionsSave your money - Give this trip a wide berth!!We paid 60 euro (CASH! an important factor to remember here) to take a boat through the Ria Formosa natural park to see the flamingoes along with 2 other families, one German with a young son and the other a French family, who had 2 very young children and another single woman traveller. The tour started at 3.00pm (an hour earlier than usual our skipper (later) told us, so that the company could fit in another booking) and initially the skipper was very unhappy about having to go out again. After a 20 minute wait to board the boat, without so much as a hello and welcome, whilst he clearly got over his hump, we were off! He was very informative but after we pulled up alongside the area where the flamingoes were, it became apparent that unless we could extremely long legs and were fortunate to benefit from a very high tide, that there was no way we could ever hope to see inside the flamingo area. We ended up going to Tavira for half an hour to wait for the 'tide to change' and then heading back out again. The skipper pulled the boat up on the wrong side of the channel, driving the boat up onto the rocks and in the end asking each of us to step up on the front section of the boat, with a pair of binoculars to strain to see the birds in the distance... we would have been better off watching flamingoes on a TV! It was dangerous, the boats passing were clearly unhappy with what we were doing and when we returned to shore, we were told we were not getting our money back. We had seen the flamingoes! Conveniently, we all paid CASH, were given no receipt, and the poor girl in the booth by the shore had to take our group's complaints whilst NO-ONE FROM THE 'OFFICE' OR CUSTOMER SERVICE would speak us. A right roy rip-off!! Give this a wide berth!Written July 27, 2019
- martico0 contributionsDifferent and interestingFound this trip as a good option with our 9-y-o grandson on our last morning, en route to the airport. Rui was a friendly and informative guide, and we saw aspects of local life we would otherwise have missed. Recommended.Written April 23, 2019

We took the tour as the ferry schedule ran infrequently off season. We had a beautiful, warm, spring day which was perfect for a boat tour.
We very much enjoyed the scheduled stops at the islands and Danielle's descriptions as we passed by the oyster farms, islands, birds, etc.
We felt this was an excellent value to be able to experience the islands and Ria Formosa in a compact time frame.

Our guide spoke excellent English and French and gave us comprehensive commentary on the fauna, flora, islanders habits and recommended places to have lunch that we enjoyed having met another couple to spend quality time together. The boat is well equipped with places inland out so ample room to take in the scenery. Good value for money. Highly recommended.

We are a family of five and the kids said they had the best day of the holiday. The restaurant for lunch was typically Portuguese, delicious and well priced. Joao the guide was polite and super informative. We’ll definitely go again. Thank you!

This is the company that delivers the worst service I’ve ever seen in my entire life. After traveling in a boat that was supposed to pick me up at 16h and showed 1 hour later, with 14 people on board, without enough vessels for all passengers and without respecting the social distancing and hygiene rules I tried to make a complaint but the responsible worker (Adriana) showed no interest in hearing my complaints. Watching her indifference to everything that had just happened I asked her to get in touch with the company owner. At first she denied but when I insisted she finally called the owner that simply refused to hear my complaints saying that we had no availability. Summarizing, really bad service no hygiene and security guarantee and no respect and compromise with the clients. They just want your money because they know that clients are not likely to come back as this is a one shoot service, meaning that nobody uses their services on a daily basis. Be very careful. You might be lucky but chances are that things might go wrong.

Dissapointment. Cruise to Ria Formosa was just stopping for lunch/short coffee at two of islands. I expected to see flamingos or some other interesting things, that I read about natura reserva, but all we saw was fisherman village full of restaurants of medium quality, nothing interesting from natural perspective. It was difficult to understand our guide, he spoke like he was drunk since the beginning. I would not go again and would not recommend to people who are looking for some natural/flora/fauna experience

This tour was ok and much like many tours I guess. Joao our guide was very good and very helpful in all regards.
If I’m honest I wouldn’t do it again as although we learnt about the area and that was worth doing once, you get very little time to explore the islands or even have lunch as the service at the restaurant we were recommended was slower than tree beard.
All in all a good trip to do once then just use the ferries to bc the island you prefer….ours was Armona.

The tour was lovely. The islands are gourgeos and Mr. João was so patient explaining the tour and history of the places in three languages. We only liked more time at Culatra and Armona to have the oportunity to see more and experience more on this islands.

We had a lovely time. We took the 4 hour tour to the islands and around Ria Formosa. The boat’s tour guide Joao was not only informative but also very passionate and a good actor! We really enjoyed his show!
The boat was clean and comfortable with plenty of space and felt safe. You could sit inside or outside.
We stopped at two of the islands, first Culatra where we had a 1.5 hour break for lunch and then Armona where we stopped for only 30 minutes. We found Armona a more interesting place than Culatra. I wish we had a shorter stop e.g. 45 minutes in Culatra so we could spend more time in Armona. Overall, a very good experience, and we learned a few things too. Thanks.

This is a great trip for those wanting to visit the islands with a good mix of cruising and stop offs. The guide is an enthusiastic‘Gerald’ equivalent who runs on high octane and instils a real passion for the area. Highly recommended

The tour was very disappointing. It was just going to the islands, but then it's better to take the ferry (both in terms of price and time). We were hoping to hear information about Ria Farmosa, the islands, get recommendations on what to see in them. During the tour up to the first island, the guide was in no mood and did not give any information, after leaving the island he was like drunk and we heard a few sentences that we had already read while choosing the tour with a few jokes.
