Excellent value for a great day out
A great way to see up to 6 different wineries. Each offered a different selection and in a varied environment. Marshall, the driver is superb, good humour and great care.

Disorganised start. No information whatsoever en route.
Not quite sure why this tour gets such good reviews. Maybe depends on your driver? We had a very mediocre experience doing the northern route. The driver failed to show at the appointed time to pick us up, had to get the tourist office ( pick up point) to phone the office to send a member of staff to collect us. We lost our first half hour due to this mix up. En route there was no info given about any of the wineries, history, nothing forthcoming from the driver except to tell us that the last vineyard on the list was closed. Leaflets hadn't been updated with this information. So all in all it was an expensive taxi service. Cost is 450 rand for a day. We squeezed in 3 vineyards in that time.

    Excellent experience
An excellent day and thank you to MARSHALL for his driving, humour and for looking after us so well throughout the day. A great way to see a few vineyards and not have to worry about the driving.

    Marshall is the best
Marshall was a perfect driver. He made sure everyone was on time, did not feel rushed, and arranged lunch for the group. He has built great relationships with the different wineries on his route that enable a smooth and pleasant tasting g experience.

    Nice tour with great wineries
We did the tour with Marshall who did a great job and was very considerate! He picked us up and even drove us back to our Lodge - thank you again! The wineries are all really beautiful with great wines and amazing staff. As we went in winter we liked Warwick best, they have a wood-fired oven and great food, which creates the most cozy and relaxed atmosphere. The other wine tasting rooms were beautiful but rather chilly. Pack warm things if you are used to central heating ;-)

    Taste of 4 Stellenbosch wineries
Wine Hop-On Hop Off bus is good option how to visit Stellenbosch wineries if you do not have car and you do not want to be on organized tour with prescribed itinerary. Here you had option to stay on one / more visited wineries longer or to move to the next winery on the itinerary. We visited 4 wineries (1) Neethlingshof Estate, 2) Spier Wine Farm, Alto Wine Estate and Kleine Zalze), which was plenty enough. Each of visited wineries was different, and wine in all locations was excellent and ambiente of all places was beautiful. This is good option if you are staying in Stellenbosch or you can also do from Cape Town if you will come to Stellenbosch individually

Cheers to fabulous wine & Scenery
Wonderful Southern tour in a comfortable minivan. Depending on what time you start will depend on how many wine stops you are able to do. We started at 11am and were able to do 3 stops which included us having a shared platter for lunch. The wine and scenery was wonderful. I don’t think we could cope with 4 stops as were quite jolly after 3 stops 🤣🍷🥂

Very disappointing. Tour was totally unorganized . We're off loaded at a wine farm that was still closed .

    A Seamless Wine Tasting Journey
My experience on the wine tasting tour was exceptionally easy and enjoyable. The efficient and comfortable transportation between wineries, ease characterized the entire journey. The selected wineries offered a variety of experiences, and the tastings were conducted in an approachable manner, even for beginners. Overall, the combination of ease, expertise, and a pleasant atmosphere made this tour a memorable and highly recommended experience for those seeking a hassle-free wine journey.

A great way to visit the vineyards.
This is a really great way to visit several vineyards in one day with a very good degree of independence. The minibus service operates to a timetable circulating around six vineyards with days of the week adopting different timetables and different vineyards. The guides/drivers are very knowledgeable. Each drop off from the Transport at a vineyard approximately one hour before the next minibus collection arrives and this does allow for six vineyards to be visited in one day. However, if more time is taken at any particular vineyard then the number of Vineyards able to be visited that day will be restricted. From what we saw and learned from our driver - it is evident that the majority of visitors are intent on maximising wine consumption, rather than tasting - also illustrated by an absence of spittoons which are only provided upon request . All vineyards visited offered different facilities and appealed in different ways. Overall, it is a good experience, and of course – an obligatory thing to do when visiting South Africa.

Good wine, great scenery, hilarious driver!
We all had a great day on this tour - even the non-drinkers! The wineries we visited such as Spier and Alto were in such beautiful settings and the people were all helpful and friendly. The Eagle Encounter was an unexpected highlight - great to be able to hold and cuddle with owls! Our driver Marshall was a real hoot and provided frank answers to our questions about the country. Highly reccommend!

Wonderful experience with amazing drivers. This wine tour is a must. Be careful with random tourists from North America who might not appreciate the beauty of the place…

    Easy Transportation to wineries
We slept in on a recent Sunday morning while on vacation and then went to the Tourist Information Center to ask about things available to do. The kind people there called the Vine Hopper to see if there was space and confirmed that we could get picked up at 11:00am at the Center or our hotel, the Oude Werf, only one block away. We joined a nice honeymoon couple who were also staying at our hotel and also picked up another couple. Our driver was Marchall who had lots of energy and gave good information at each stop. Marchall checked with all of us to determine where we wanted to go, especially given that we started at their second departure. We were able to make a total of four stops: Neethlingshof, Spier, Alto, and Klein Zalze (all reviewed separately). Marchall would coming looking for us if the time was up to try to keep us on schedule. While the four stops were plenty for us, given that the Haskell Vineyards were closed for renovations, it does seem like another option should be given, to allow for another choice.

This was our first time in Stellenbosch and we thought we'd give this tour a try. We were EXTREMELY lucky to have Ronnie as our guide as he instantly made us feel like VIPs, and he was a wealth of knowledge when it came to the history and wine culture of the area. We would highly recommend this tour, and if possible, request Ronnie as a guide. He will ensure that this is an experience you will never forget!

Well organised route with some excellent vineyards, including 2 of the oldest in South Africa. Marshall, the guide, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. He made sure no one was left behind and everyone kept to the timetable.

We would highly recommend Vine Hopper Eastern route and, in particular, Marshall.

Touring the vineyards is a great experience and well worth the visit. However we were on the eastern route and the first people on for the 10am tour. Delivered us to the first stop and all good but the cellar tour took longer than the overall hour we were allocated so we were left at the vineyard. Remember we were first so nobody else on the route. The courier took the decision to go back to town to pick up the twp people that were for the next tour an hour later so he then had a full truck. We were stuck waiting for him. All well after that until another stop when we were three minutes late and again he left us. Apparently one of the ladies that did make the truck asked the driver if he was going to leave us for three minutes and he said YES. Wow! This meant that the last vineyard we had hardly any time after we had to ring the office to ask for the truck to come back. One couple actually sent for an Uber because of the wait. The when we got back to town we were told it’s close to here when he stopped and we would be better to walk with us having absolutely no idea when to go. Resorted to Google maps. One couple cancelled a tour and decided to do it by Uber. I can say no more except the tip is to stop leaving people especially when you have the phone numbers for contact.

Not as good as the northern/southern route. We were met with a safari type truck, with open air seating. So, you had to climb up and down to get in! Really no interaction with the driver/guide as you get on the northern/southern route with Marchall!! Enjoyed the day, but could have been better.

This truly is the best way to get a fell for a new city when you first arrive. The buses were plentiful, and came every 15 minutes. The narration was informative. And I thought the price for the day was more than reasonable.

we got picked up from our hotel by a friendly driver. We didn't get off at the first stop as we had inadvertently visited a couple of days previously on the cycle trip. The bus stops to let you go tasting or just walking around. We kept to the same driver which helped build a relationship. Thoroughly recommended
