Good surf school at a decent surf break. If you don't want to rent a car and drive to surf spots, Ubering here is a great way to surf in South Africa.

Great job taking my 10 year olds out! The water was chilly but they didn't want to stop. Instructors and the manager were simply the best with booking and teaching. Thank you for the great experience.

My fiancee and I signed up for a 1-hour beginner's surfing lesson in late Sept 2021. When we arrived we were assigned Noble as our instructor. We were provided wetsuits. A pleasant surprise was that the beach to surf was right outside the shop, no shuttle required, just a few hundred feet walk. As soon as we stepped in the water we felt the cold on our feet and I started getting "cold feet" about surfing. But after a few attempts with Noble instructing us, we warmed up and felt great! Noble was an awesome and patient teacher, and in addition to teaching us, he made sure that we were having fun, which we were. Bonus -- he took some great GoPro footage with our camera for us. It was such a good experience in fact that we extended it from 1 to 2 hours, with Noble for the second hour as well. Noble was really great and made our time enjoyable, Andrew at the desk was good as well. Highly recommend this place and this activity for anyone in the area!

My daughter joined on Matt's kids surf holiday camp this week and she had an absolute ball. Her confidence in the water improved so much and she was catching waves on her own in no time! Thanks so much to Matt, Brandon, Jason and Kelly. Amazing and encouraging coaches. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Matt to anyone who is wanting to learn to surf!

My 2 kids(8yo & 10yo) had a blast with Matt in Big bay last week, saying he was a super cool instructor and surfing is so much fun!! They can’t stop talking about taking a lesson with him again. We will definitely give him a shout next time we visit our family in Cape Town.

My daughter who is five years old had never been on a surf board. Her Grandma organized for a lesson. Within five minutes my daughter was surfing. More importantly the people that worked there were amazing. Noble took her first two lessons, everything that he said was positive and Emily thought that he was amazing, Her third lesson was with a young lady, whose name I have forgotten, she was equally positive. I took a 2 hour lesson with Matt and my friends at Bloubergstrand and couldn’t have been more satisfied. I was really nervous about surfing and he made me feel completely at ease. Matt is super flexible, since he can take his school basically anywhere, and was also extremely reliable and on time. He took some amazing pictures of us in the water with his camera, which made the class all the more memorable. I enjoyed that first class so much that I spent the rest of the week surfing in Muizenberg, where I took another lesson at Gary‘s Surf School. No question, I recommend Matt’s classes 100%. He has a great energy that guarantees a wonderful day out on the water!

It was my first time surfing and I booked immediately 3 days with a private two hour surf session. I had the best time, even when it was hard and frustrating, I came back home and felt so alive and happy. Matt and Jason were wonderful teachers pushing me to my limits but I always felt very safe with them. Definitely will be coming back!!

A father who surfed a couple of times many, many years ago... Two kids, 10 and 14, who never surfed but are pretty good at skiiing and snowboarding downhill... We didn´t really know what too expect and we did the mobile two hour lesson in Hout Bay on christmas. It was the perfect christmas, even without snow and Santa. We had a great time! A lot of laughs A son who told his fahter: - I thougt you we´re bettar at this... But in the end we all experienced the thrill of standing up on a wave. A memory for life We cant´t recommend this enough

Had 2 private sessions with Matt on back to back days to improve my surfing. By the great go pro videos and shots he has taken i now know what to focus on when to doing my first small turns. Overall a super fun experience and a great time in the water, also Matt is a super chill guy and a real ripper himself! Should check him out while you‘re in Cape Town

I took about a week of lessons with my daughter (8yrs) with Matt over Christmas and the New Year. Can't recommend Matt / Gary's Mobile Surf highly enough. Very relaxed, professional and lots of focus on making it the best experience possible. Just really enjoyable.

absolutely fell in love with surf after my lesson! living in Cape Town, and being 30, I thought it was too late for me to start... I won't attempt being a professional surfer... but they made me feel like I am able to do anything! it wasn't easy, but they were so patient and got me standing on the board! it was the best decision of my life to go for a lesson, but an even better decision to go with Gary's Surf School!!!
