Irene met us at our hotel on time and drove us to the start point pointing out sites of interest on the way. She provided extra water and poles which later we realised were invaluable. It was incredibly windy and the cable was closed so we had to hike both up and down the mountain. Irene looked after us all the way and despite the fact that the trip was supposed to return via cable car she did not complain about us taking up an additional couple of hours of her time. The top of the mountain was wild as winds were over 100 k per hour but nonetheless the views were breathtaking. Hiking both ways gave my wife and I a huge sense of achievement and I would strongly recommend using Irene Vermeulen as your guide as she is informative and very safety conscious. This is a must for anyone visiting Cape Town but reasonable fitness is essential.

We arrived in Cape Town the day before our scheduled tour to find the weather was against us for the Table Mountain part of the experience. The winds were blowing at 120 kmph and the gondola had been shut down. On Friday January 17, 2020, Joshua from Kabura Travel showed up at our hotel on time ready to take us on a new adventure. It was supposed to be a shared tour, but turned out to be private which was excellent for us. Joshua advised Table Mountain was still closed because of the Gale Force Winds but we’d have a full day of sightseeing. He gave us excellent overviews of the history of Cape Town ‘Mother City’ first inhabited by invaders and all the other locations we visited. We stopped by Camps Beach (It’s also called ‘little Miami’) where he showed us the Bed Rock boulder in the water with a hole like a big pizza oven in it. (‘Back Oven’). We went to see the seals, a little Farmers Market and then up to Chapman Mountain to see the beautiful mountain views from a very winding and windy road. Joshua let us know that in lieu of the Table Mountain part of the tour, he would be showing us the peninsula until 5:00. As we drove, you could see the sand blowing over the highway next to the beaches, making the drive very interesting. We drove the M65 through many communities with Joshua giving us excellent history and information as we made our way to the Cape Point Lighthouse. Got out and hiked the hill to the lighthouse, choosing not to ride the Funicular. The funicular is also an excellent option to get to the top. It was an excellent hike. When we got back to the vehicle we continued driving to Cape Point so we could say we’d touched the tip of South Africa. On the ride back up the peninsula, we stopped to watch baboons on the road – just like tourists who stop to watch deer and bear on the highways in the Rockies. We carried on to see Simons Town stopping at The Boulders, walking the bridges to see the penguins and then went into Seaforth Restaurant for an excellent lunch. We eventually made it back to Cape Town where Joshua continued to give us more history and highlights of the city, taking us to Bo Kaap where we walked through the neighborhood hearing about the historical roots and reason why the buildings were painted different colors. After a very interesting day, Joshua dropped us off at our hotel where we thanked him for an excellent tour and overview. After he left, we realized one of our iphones had been left on a seat. Called Kabura Travel and Joshua delivered it back to us very quickly. Overall an excellent experience and highly recommended. (BTW – we did make it up to Table Mountain on the gondola, 19 days later when we returned to Cape Town)

We arranged our Table Mountain tour up Kasteelsport to the upper cable station with Irene for the morning after we arrived in Cape Town and couldn't have chosen a better way to get our bodies moving again after the long flight. Irene was amazing; so friendly and knowledgeable our day with her was a fantastic start to our trip. Highly recommended.

Irene Vermuelen has been my mountain guide a number of times since I arrived in Cape Town from the UK. As well as hiking around the Table Mountain area Irene has taken me on some awesome hikes inland around Paarl, Worcester and Stellenbosch. Her knowledge of trails, nature and wildlife is extensive and its hard to imagine anyone doing a better job and having so much patience for a slow hiker like me. Thanks, Irene, for some truly memorable days out. I can't wait for the next one.

Irene picked me up at my hotel in Cape Town for both tours. We spent the first day exploring the Cape Pt area and the second day hiking Skeleton Gorge route up Table Mountain. I learned so much from Irene about the natural environment and cultural history of the area. She knows ALL the plant and bird life! She also prepared a wonderful picnic lunch. Irene is a very competent guide and pleasant person. I highly recommend her!

My husband and I choose to visit the Table Mountain yesterday ie 17/3/19
The experience which was my fourth was breathtaking . Always a pleasure to ride up in the rotating cable car all the way to the top
The weather was rather dull all afternoon but this was no hindrance at all to us viewing the beautiful fauna and flora on offer at the top
After a good walk there's a restuarant where we had lunch and the Wifi lounge where we had coffee
All in all a great way to view the city of Cape Town from afar
Look forward to another visit

We we’re keen to hike up Table Mountain during our first visit to South Africa and Cape Town in January. After some research online for the most scenic route we decided to book a guide via the Adrenaline Hunter Website....we were not disappointed!

Irene Vermeulen was our guide. Her expert knowledge of the route meant we felt completely safe on the mountain and could concentrate on enjoying the surroundings and amazing scenery. Irene lead us at the perfect pace that it was an enjoyable rather than endurance hike and gave us great information about the plants, wildlife and history of the mountain at the same time.

If you are visiting Tabe Mountain and have enough time, definitely don’t take the Cable Car both ways (or try the kasteelsport route without a guide, you’ll get lost)...book a hike with Irene!

My friends and I (group of 12) recently spent 2 days hiking with Irene. One day in Franschoek, in the winelands. The other day in Cape Town combined the hike around the top of Table Mountain with the botanical gardens. Both days were wonderful, good trail conditions, excellent views, a wonderful way to spend the day. Irene is extremely knowledgeable about all the flowers and plants as well as local history. She also knows the hiking trails very well in different reserves/areas outside of Capetown that are well worth doing if you are interested in exploring some other areas.

We had two wonderful days with Irene as a very professional guide. She is very informed, especially about the plant life. Both along the coast at Cape Point, but also at Table Mountain. We went up Skeleton gorge to Maclears Beacon and then took the Cable Car down. Irene knows all the little paths that gives you a superb tour and even in the mist she can find the way. It makes you feel safe that she always makes sure that safety is first.

During our visit to Cape Town in November 2017, Irene from Cape and Table Mountain Tours took us to the internationally renowned architectural masterpiece that is the Zeitz Mocaa Art Museum in the Waterfront. Originally built in the 1920's as a harbour grain Silo, this building has been transformed and re-engineered in the most specactular way and houses the largest collection of contemporary African art on the continent. As you walk into the cathedral-like entrance you are literally left speechless at the magnificent sight of the sawn open cylindrical silo tubes. We started on the on the top floor/roof where we enjoyed the views and worked our way down floor by floor exploring each exhibition. And ended the tour with lunch at a local fish and chips shop close by. We would like to thank Irene for taking us on this tour and providing us with a a truly memorable experience.
