About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- kengC570PS0 contributionsIf you want to challenge yourself - this is a good way to do it.Barry our guide picked us up from the hotel, informed us that the weather was closing in and did we want to reschedule. We decided to go ahead with the walk and found it challenging though achievable with Barry being very supportive and knowledgable about the area. Even though we didn’t get to see the sunset, due to the overcast conditions, we enjoyed the walk with Barry.Written June 14, 2024
- sourcejohankrugerj0 contributionsNot for the faint hearted but totally worth it.Such a epic hike! beautiful views of camps bay and the city. Can get crowded, but during the week generally not too bad. Need to climb up some ladders, not for the faint hearted. Worth it.Written June 3, 2024
- heathermC6721TU0 contributionsLion's Head sunrise hikeWhat a morning! We really enjoyed our hike with Barry. This was not an easy hike, but it was so great to be up at the top in time for sunrise. We all loved this experience!Written March 26, 2024
- Vimz150 contributionsAMAZING HIKE / IT AINT EASYWe did the Sunrise Hike so be prepared to wake up at 4AM. This is was a Hike of a lifetime (Well for me) and well worth sacrificing the sleep!!! Be prepared because this Hike was not easy. Make sure too wear the right shoes. Definitely need to be in decent shape and you'll have a few scary moments but at the end of it we made it for a truly remarkable Sunrise when you reach the top Big Props to Dino for making our hike fun & memorable!Written March 11, 2024
- rogerwagstaff0 contributionsLions Head with guide Barry - excellent!Barry is an excellent guide, very informative, caring without being fussy and made the experience so much better than if I had gone on my own. Highly recommended. Lion’s head at sunrise is awesome. Great trip.Written December 4, 2023
- Jeyjey12030 contributionsworth an experienceI booked the tour with my boyfriend in winter time. The guide was super friendly and was flexible about our wishes regarding the time when we would start, as we had to get our plane on the same day. We took the long route, which is clearly recommended!Written July 13, 2023
- jefffW9183UP0 contributionsGreat Cape Town ViewsThis hike was one of the experiences from our Africa trip I will always remember. Having a guide made it so comfortable and easy to have this experience. He also had a ton of history that he included for the down trek. Couldn’t have expected better.Written April 24, 2023
- rimaSC0 contributionsOnce in a lifetimeGetting an Uber after the hike was almost impossible; they cancelled, or were delayed or unavailable. Of the 11 of us, 6 made it to the top, 4 made it 75% of the way and 1 got 50% there. It is more strenuous than you might have been told.Written January 14, 2023
- Johan K0 contributionsNot second fiddleThe temptation in Cape Town is to get up Table Mountain and people regard Lion's Head as the 'ugly duckling' or second cousin. The climb is not as crowded, still physically demanding and gives a 360 degree view from the top. Take plenty of water though!Written August 20, 2020
- isagom170 contributionsJust keep going ... it’s worth it!Glad we started with three full water bottles and caps for everyone. The hike and the way is well marked and enjoyable all through. The hike goes around the mountain and is fairly easy for most part. But the last part is as challenging as gorgeous! It’s worth every step!!! Our children were delighted with the tricks to get to the top and mostly with the final view. What an amazing treasure!!Written April 13, 2020
- KyleSmile3140 contributionsIncredible sunrise hikeWe hiked Lion's Head in the early morning, with the goal of watching sunrise from the top of the peak. Our group was decidedly taking our time, and the hike took us 90 minutes to reach the summit. The hike can be technical, with ladders and small scrambles even if you opt to take the more round-about route. The view was more than worth the exertion! Could not think of a better vantage point than the summit of Lions Head to appreciate the beauty of Cape Town. I'd recommend getting there early for a couple of reasons: - The parking lot has limited spots, and if you arrive after the lot is full you'll need to park further away - The trail gets pretty crowded for sunrise and sunset hikes - the earlier you arrive the less time you'll be climbing with a crowdWritten March 22, 2020
- Ed S0 contributionsA fun climb and great views over the city and bayDid this on a typically windy CT day. It's a scramble in places, not just paths and tracks, so come prepared for a bit of a climb. It's great fun and you are rewarded with incredible views from the top (and a few dassie for company).Written March 7, 2020
- Annalyzing910 contributionsWake up early and hike before noon!I’ve hiked Lion’s Head a few times, but on this particular day my BF and I woke up late and only started our hike around 12:30pm on a hot Summer’s afternoon! Pro’s: You basically doing this popular hike alone- there was no one in front or behind us, only many coming down (laughing at us for starting midday). There were some shadey spots where we could catch our breath and not feel rushed or guilty for resting as it was only us enroute. Once we reached the top it was just us and 3 other people- GREAT for a solo photoshoot! And then jumping into Camps Bay beach and not feeling the cold Atlantic water. Cons: Extremely hot, draining and you run out of water quickly. I’d say stick to a morning hike or sunset, but prepare for a busy sunset hike. P.S. Do not wear black whilst hiking in Summer!Written March 3, 2020
- Johan K0 contributionsTasty practiceGoing hiking as 'preparation' for Table Mountain, this is NOT a walk in the park! The views from the top can probably only be bettered by Table Mountain itself. Be prepared for some stiff challenges and take water!Written March 3, 2020
- Janet L0 contributionsWorth it!About 1200 ft in total. A good path to start then steeper and rougher. But I am 78 and made it to the plateau maybe 200 feet below the steep pinnacle which has a chain rope to help you get up. Wonderful views from the plateau.Written February 27, 2020
