Park your car at the parking area on the last bend before reaching the cableway. If you've reached the Lower Cableway Station, you have gone about 500m too far.

Get ready for an extraordinary experience led by Miles, an exceptionally experienced guide. He effectively communicated prior to the event, including what to bring to be best prepared. Prior to our ascent, he explained safety protocols, as well as, what we might expect from the mountain conditions. His generosity included bringing light snacks and delicious hot tea for our break. Miles was encouraging, motivating and helpful throughout the entire hike. Thank you, Miles!
Our day started with an early 5:45 am meet up. Don’t be put off by the early morning. It is quite a treat to experience the mountain as the day begins to wake up. Additionally, an early morning provides relief from potential heat as the hike progresses. We reached the summit in approximately 4 hours. Slow and steady is the way to go.
The hike, while not long (roughly 5km) was a personal challenge. We warmed up with a combination of level ground and slight incline before moving on to more complex terrain. Be prepared to hike, scramble across and over rocks and climb rock faces. It is quite an exhilarating experience and a personal sense of accomplishment to say the least.
The views are spectacular!! You will not regret taking this route up with the cable car ride down. Additionally, don’t be discouraged by clouds on the base of the mountain. The higher you go, fog and cloud layers can potentially shift, leaving you with grand opening of the skies and incredible views.
Words of advice…dress for a proper hike, layers, protective shoes, water is essential, small backpack to carry items (you’ll need your hands to be free), be open to the challenge and the beauty.
In a nutshell…my body, mind, emotions and spirit were all stimulated, conditioned and awakened on this journey.
Highly recommend this excursion led by Miles and this tour company!

Tauriq is not only an incredible guide with expert knowledge of all of Cape Town’s mountains, he makes you feel like the impossible is easy! One step / handhold / ladder / chain / rock at a time and some how you’ll find yourself at the top feeling accomplished for the day! There’s never any doubt with Tauriq leading the way. He literally runs these trails at night so he knows them like they’re his own. Just a lovely person and an even more amazing ultra-marathon trail running athlete. Could not recommend more highly. (Ask about his wife’s cookies also)

I really enjoyed the hikes with Tauriq and recommend him as a guide to anyone visiting Cape Town. He knows the area very well and I learned a lot about the history and some useful things about nature. We went for a sunrise hike on Table Mountain which was incredibly beautiful.
The views made my last weekend in Cape Town memorable and rounded out my time in Cape Town perfectly. Although I don't usually hike much, on these 2 hikes I found my passion for it again

Tauriq was an awesome guide. Despite having various levels of fitness within the people of the group, he managed to take us up the challenging route in a way that met each of our needs and expectations. I would say that I was one of the fitter and faster people and with high expectations so this is high praise.
Despite this being a popular destination, we hardly encountered anyone at all on the way up even though there were many people at the top. If you are looking to get off the beaten track and do some scrabbling along the way, this is your route and Tauriq is your guide! I would definitely use Tauriq as my guide if I am ever in Cape Town again.

Highly recommend this hike, the more adventurous route with very few tourists. We hiked back down the usual tourist route and the views do not compare! Tauriq, our guide, was great from start to finish. Great communication, gave us an insight in to the local history and supported us throughout the hike and encouraged us to take things at our own pace.

The walk up the mountain was amazing. Miles was such a lovely welcoming guide, he was generous with information, stories and his tea and sandwiches.
It was chilly in the morning so I suggest wearing thin layers to take off. The pics of people climbing in the advert is what you really do. It's lucky I'm not afraid of heights. It was an exhilarating walk and you get a big sense of achievement at the top. A morning well spent if you have the time! I would recommend!

Tauriq is an amazing guide, this is the tour for anyone who wants the scenic route with few tourists. Tauriq is passionate about hiking and it shows in the quality of service he offers. I recommend this experience to anyone who wants an adventurous hike.

Tauriq is an amazing guide and what an experience he offered. I hiked with him up Lions Head and Table Mountain. Two totally different experiences, but two amazing adventures. He is an outstanding guide, and will give you confidence even when hikes get challenging (for those that don’t traditionally hike). He has an amazing perspective of South African history given his background and he was open to sharing personal stories that really made me appreciate him and the culture of the area we were ascending above. Fully recommend, and would trust implicitly no matter the path or trail he recommends. Can’t wait to see him again my next trip to Cape Town.

Incredible experience. Can’t believe we hiked this intimidating mountain! Miles was an incredibly professional, patient and friendly guide who made sure that all of us moved safely as a team. He even surprised us with hot tea, sandwiches and snacks during a pit stop in the middle of the mountain! Super grateful for not only the climb but also the bonding as a team. Thank you so much Miles!

Tauriq was my guide. The experience was excellent. If you like rock climbing and hiking, the route definitely has its fair share of scrambling. Tauriq was very friendly and accommodating, and his experience/knowledge of the routes, fauna and flora are super valuable. you definitely need a guide to do the India Venster route for safety, it is easy to get lost and some of the flora can be caustic or sharp if you're not looking out for it. I strongly recommend him, and i will seek him out when i return to do more challenging routes.
