A must do in Cape Town!
We had an amazing experience hiking with Codi - he was a great guide from start to finish. Shared interesting historical info about Cape Town, and looked after us all really well. Would highly recommend.

Brilliant way to start the day
Initially we booked a sunset hike to Lion’s Head, but due to rain forecast, we were offered to join the sunrise hike and we weren’t disappointed. Idrees H. our local guide had great inside information of it’s the area, was helpful and motivating up the treck. He shared history aspects and his knowledge about flora down the path. It was a real memorable experience with the reward of the sunrise reaching the top.

It was amazingly beautiful! Kurt is so nice, and made us feel very safe 🥰 he showed us less frequented photo spots which made the experience even more special.

Best hike with a great guide!
Incredible hike with the most epic views! Codi was an amazing guide ensuring the safety of all members of the group throughout the hike. Being born and raised in Cape Town, Codi gave us all an insight into life in South Africa, the history and his personal experiences, this made the tour more authentic and showed us a locals perspective which I truly appreciated. He also gave us plenty of recommendations of things to do in Cape Town! Thanks so much Codi!

Idrees was a really great guide. He gave us some great tips for what to do in Cape Town and shared lot of information about the area and history. The hike was not too strenuous and was brilliant to see sunrise over Cape Town.

      Just magical
Where do I start with this fantastic experience. We were a little bit nervous for this hike as we have never done anything like this, however from the moment we were picked up Idrees was incredibly welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. We started the hike at 5 am in the dark but were provided with head torches that helped us massively along the way. We stopped regularly for breaks to catch our breath but to also look out from the fantastic different viewpoints of Lions Head mountain. Idrees pointed out some of cape towns famous landmarks, gave us some insights and facts about the mountain and also talked us through a lot of cape towns history. The first two thirds of the hike weren’t as challenging as the third, the third part definitely required more strength and stamina however Idrees was always on hand to guide and support us with any challenging sections. We felt completely safe in his hands and reaching the summit for sunrise was nothing short of magical. If you are thinking about booking this hike, please don’t hesitate! Thank you Idrees, this will be an experience that will stay with us forever.

Family group trek up Lions Head
A fantastic experience with a great group. Idris was an exceptional guide who ensured all were comfortable with our progress. Also appreciated the relaying of his personal experiences growing up in Cape Town which added to our experience. Well worth getting up early for! Thoroughly recommend.

      Lions Head Hike: Spectacular Sunrise
A couple of friends and I booked The Lions Head sunrise/full moon hike with The Cape Town Local. It was the most spectacular sunrise I’ve ever seen and without a doubt the highlight of our trip! Huge thank you to Tauriq for safely guiding us up and down the trail, for having an having an excellent photographers eye 🙌🏻 and generously sharing his knowledge of the area. This is your sign to book now!

If you are unsure - book it! You won't regret:)
I'm so glad we booked the sunset Hike with Kurt, instead of going up by ourselves. Kurt shares a lot of interesting things about Capetown, the area, the history and some fun facts along the way. Additionally he knows some unpopular spots so we actually got to enjoy the sunset in complete peace instead of being with the crowds of people and having to queue on the way down. Moreover, in case you are worried about the height/length of the trip, he is a great motivator.

I booked a Table Mountain sunrise hike with The Cape Town Local and it was amazing. Despite some messy communication on my part and a last minute change of plans/dates, Tauriq was very flexible and made sure we could still go.

In the morning we were met by our guide Codi who took us up the India Venster trail. We weren’t really aware of the level of difficulty of the hike, and one of us decided to go back down. Codi made sure she knew where to go and meet up with us at the top.

The hike itself was beautiful with amazing views of Cape Town. There was plenty of time to take a rest and look around and to really take it all in. Watching the sun come up through the venster was something I will never forget and will recommend to anyone who wants to hike table mountain to do. Plus, if Codi is your guide, he will know how to capture the moment beautifully on camera!

The hike had a few climbing/scrambling parts during which Codi made sure I got up the mountain safely. He knows a lot about the mountain and Cape Town and is great company to hike and have a conversation with.

So if you’re up for a little climbing/scrambling challenge with beautiful views and a great and knowledgeable guide, for sure go on this tour! This has been the highlight of my brief Cape Town visit, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

We hiked the India Venster route which was truly spectacular and a fantastic way to see the mountain. The weather was perfect; sunshine and blue skies so we had great views. The 6 am start felt early but was definitely worth it as it would have been hard work in the heat of the day. Idrees our guide made the whole experience enjoyable. There were plenty of photo stops, help when needed with the more exposed sections and fascinating insights into the animals and plants on the mountain and also his experience of life in South Africa. There is some scrambling involved so a head for heights helps. The organisation was also smooth from pick up, hiking and drop off.

My wife and I spent a full day with Ibby who was our tour guide and driver for the day .
He was excellent we managed to see
Camps bay, Cape of Good Hope, Cape Point, Boulders Beach , Chapman’s Peak drive , stopped for lunch at a lovely restaurant and finished the day by going up Table Mountain which we couldn’t do in the morning due to strong winds. Ibby was an excellent guide with so much knowledge to share with us and also taking some wonderful photos thank you
    Highly recommend this trip

We hiked twice - Lion's Head and Table Mountain Indian Venster with Codi who gave us stunning guidances and storytelling. We recommend hiking with them to the Lion's Head and if you're in for more adventures and unique views, opt in for the table mountain hike. Few of our best moments were with the cape town local. We have amazing photos and videos as souvenirs! Make sure you get the guide if it's your first climb and you don't regularly do challenging hikes.

2nd time going up to table mountain
Its very pricey for this experience. Not just the tickets but for everything else too.
The wait to get up can be long depending on the time of the year you want to go up.
Being December it gets very hot and the line to get upto the cable way.
This being our 2nd time, we took water and snacks to help us while we wait.
We ended up purchasing 3x Ola Paddle pop ice creams from a Ola street vendor which charged R40 each (normal price in Checkers is R20 each).
Once on the mountain we ended up buying lunch.
2x beef burgers with fried chips (fries), 1x hot dog with fried chips (fries), 2x slushies and 1x Cold drink (from a soda fountain) was R260.
With the heat we had to also purchase water to drink @ R40 per 500ml.

The views from on top are spectacular. You get to see the whole of Cape Town. It's truly breathtaking views from there. Be prepared for lots of walking as there's lots to see from on top

Was a bit hesistant to hike Table Mountain due to safety (from muggings but also heard the trail is quite intense) so decided to get a tour guide. Codi was patient, attentive and a great guide who went at a good pace and showed us a route which was very doable. There were sufficient rest stops and it was an all round great experience! If I can do it, anyone can as I'm not the most active and fit. You'll be in good hands with Codi!

I’ve done one of my best sunrise hike with Tauriq!
He took us to India Venster trail which has mixture of everything, such as climbing, scrambling, bouldering.

Even though the trail start was not difficult, few people started giving alerts, and Tauriq noticed those signals right on time, gave them clear directions that they should not continue.
Other guides wouldn’t catch those signals and would’ve put everyone in danger.

My overall experience is perfect and definitely recommend him for the visitors!
He’s an authentic local guy with lots of knowledge and experience!

Ask him to take you to the Organic Market breakfast if you’re hiking on weekend ;)

Get ready for an extraordinary experience led by Miles, an exceptionally experienced guide. He effectively communicated prior to the event, including what to bring to be best prepared. Prior to our ascent, he explained safety protocols, as well as, what we might expect from the mountain conditions. His generosity included bringing light snacks and delicious hot tea for our break. Miles was encouraging, motivating and helpful throughout the entire hike. Thank you, Miles!

Our day started with an early 5:45 am meet up. Don’t be put off by the early morning. It is quite a treat to experience the mountain as the day begins to wake up. Additionally, an early morning provides relief from potential heat as the hike progresses. We reached the summit in approximately 4 hours. Slow and steady is the way to go.

The hike, while not long (roughly 5km) was a personal challenge. We warmed up with a combination of level ground and slight incline before moving on to more complex terrain. Be prepared to hike, scramble across and over rocks and climb rock faces. It is quite an exhilarating experience and a personal sense of accomplishment to say the least.

The views are spectacular!! You will not regret taking this route up with the cable car ride down. Additionally, don’t be discouraged by clouds on the base of the mountain. The higher you go, fog and cloud layers can potentially shift, leaving you with grand opening of the skies and incredible views.

Words of advice…dress for a proper hike, layers, protective shoes, water is essential, small backpack to carry items (you’ll need your hands to be free), be open to the challenge and the beauty.

In a nutshell…my body, mind, emotions and spirit were all stimulated, conditioned and awakened on this journey.

Highly recommend this excursion led by Miles and this tour company!

Super fun hike/ climb with amazing views and totally worth the early morning wake up! Codi, our guide, was really friendly and professional - he made sure that all of us felt safe and comfortable the whole time and also brought us dried fruits to keep everyone's sugar levels up! Pick up and drop off both went very smoothly, too. Would highly recommend this to anyone that's in good shape!!

This was one of the most spectacular adventures and hikes that we have ever been on. The views from every point on the hike was truly amazing, and it was an accomplishment to reach the top. Cody is an outstanding guide and he made every bit of the experience fun and enjoyable - from his preparation text the night before, punctuality in picking us up at the hotel, ensuring we were doing fine the whole way through, encouraging and helping us up during the tough technical parts, describing the fauna and flora as we ascended, to the amazing pictures and videos he surprised us with at the end. Ask for Cody if you ever decide to take on this adventure. It feels good to say "we climbed Table Mountain" - one of the wonders of the world!
