About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- marciam3550 contributionsBrace yourself for the Cape Town Cruise terminal! The wifi didn't work for 2 days while the Island Princess was in port--9, 10 March. I changed USD to rand. It took the agent 5 minutes. She had to open 2 separate envelopes, and generally behaved as if she had no expectation to be handling money. When I returned to change the rand back to USD, she proudly told me that they NEVER change from rand to USD. You COULD put up a sign that states that the cambio does not change rand to USD, but I guess that would be too user-friendly. While you wait in the Immigration line, you will see the cruise ship schedule for the next few weeks. Why do cruise passengers need to know the schedule of ships which will be arriving? We'd prefer to see the top 10 fun facts about Cape Town! You'll also see signs that it is an award-winning Cape Town terminal. Whoever gave the award obviously has not waited in that Immigration line, seen the irrelevant cruise ship schedule, or dared to change money. They've spent so much time getting people to give the terminal awards, they forgot to identify and meet the needs of passengers who pay port fees! Cape Town cruise terminal is the worst cruise terminal that I have endured in 53 years of cruising!Written March 14, 2025
- D1375IJkevinn0 contributionsMust Do in Cape TownThe boat ride to Robben Island was enjoyable, offering scenic views along the way, we even seen a wright whale along the way. The tour itself was highly informative, with an ex-inmate providing a powerful and personal account of life in the prison, making the experience deeply moving. However, the large group size made it feel a bit crowded at times. The bus tour around the island was insightful but lacked sufficient stops for photos, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it’s a must-visit for its historical significance, but a few improvements could enhance the experience.Written February 24, 2025
- Freedom232199922830 contributionsBreathtaking and informativeLess hassle with the booking. Prompt response regarding the status of the booking. The driver of the pick up cab is knowledgeable about the tourWritten February 3, 2025
- rubyjax0 contributionsWell organised and interestingPickup and transport great. The tour by an ex inmate informative and seeing prison cells ,and harsh environment and no hot waterWritten February 1, 2025
- Nkosinathi M0 contributionsAn average experience at Robben IslandI think the presentations were a bit rushed. I suppose the presenters/hosts were fatigued, understandably so: there were throngs of visitors, and some control measures on bringing young children along should be introduced and enforced.Written January 5, 2025
- bobbiew2640 contributionsVery interesting! The boat ride was nice, although quite windy. We got to see penguins on our way. Our guide at the prison was a prisoner himself back in the late 60’s. All the guides were prisoners at some time. To get actual accounts from our guide, was fascinating and sad. So glad we took the tour!Written October 16, 2024

- rachelsO493SH0 contributionsExceptional Service and a Memorable ExperienceWe had a wonderful time on the Robben Island tour! My husband, my mother (who walks with a cane), and I were incredibly impressed with the care and attention we received. The pick-up and drop-off service was outstanding – our driver was so patient and made sure my mother was comfortable throughout. His kindness really stood out, ensuring a smooth and stress-free experience for all of us. The tour itself was enlightening and left us with a profound understanding of South Africa’s history. Highly recommend this tour, especially for families traveling with elderly loved ones!Written September 30, 2024

- TrailBlazer8121370 contributionsUnforgettable Experience for Our Group! Our group of guys had an amazing time on the Robben Island tour. Everything was smooth and well-organized, from the ferry ride to the detailed tour led by an incredibly knowledgeable guide. Hearing the stories from a former political prisoner was a highlight—it really brought the history to life. Visiting Nelson Mandela’s cell was a powerful and humbling experience. The whole tour gave us a deep appreciation for South Africa's past. Whether you're traveling solo or with friends, this is a must-do in Cape Town. Highly recommended!Written September 20, 2024

- Climber770640 contributionsWell organised visit to Robben Island. Guide was very good with helpful clear instructions. Bus tour was goodClear and helpful instructions from the guide and bus tour operators. Explained all about Robben Island and how the prisoners were treatedWritten August 20, 2024
- craigmillard260 contributionsA great tour, really worthwhile, just a little rushed.Service from tour company was excellent - pick up/drop-off worked seamlessly. The tour of the island was good, if a little rushed - it would have been good to have stopped a couple more times to get out. The tour of the prison was sobering, and fascinating, being led by a former inmate was incredibly enlightening. The prison tour could have been done a little slower to allow some more time to taken in the detail and information in cells, and seeing Mandela's cell was very rushed. A really worthwhile tour, and really informative, but with some small changes, could be perfect!Written July 31, 2024
- PattyG5110 contributionsThe visit brought history to life. Our first attempt to visit Robben Island was cancelled due to technical difficulties, but the company trip advisor used, rescheduled us, picked us up at a different location and got us on the ferry. My favorite part was hearing our inmate guide’s story while standing in his cell. Definitely worth a visit.Written July 17, 2024

Does the red 'hop-on,hop-off' bus take us here ? (we are thinking of purchasing the 'Classic Package' where we can choose 3 attractions within the price).
