    Aquila Game Reserve
The trip was around 2.5 hours by minibus from the centre of Cape Town. We had a stop at a service area on the way which was good. The road trip was interesting as we travelled through the mountains and the vineyards. We also saw two troops of Baboons along the side of the road. We were welcomed at Aquila game reserve with a cup of sparkling wine and lunch, which was excellent. Then it was off for our African massage as the guide referred to our off road truck ride through the reserve. It was an enjoyable and fun day out. We saw lions, Hippos, Buffalo, zebra, giraffes, Rhino, Springbok and other animals. Most of them close up.

    Treated like royalty
We visited Cape Town last week. The High Tea was an activity at the top of my list. After a day of shopping with friends, we arrived at the beautiful Mount Nelson. Our table was beautiful on the terrace. Nqobile walked us through everything we needed to know and treated us like royalty. Her smile and attention to the details made my day. Thank you for a beautiful afternoon.

    Good!
I took a one day pass. I saw lots of animals. The safari part was great. After the safari, there's lunch, & then there's free time (probably to encourage people to buy various spa services). It's a nice safari to go to if you're short on time & have to stay in Cape Town.

Great experience visiting a safari sure beats going to a zoo
I had a wonderful time. I got picked up early in the morning and had breakfast before visiting the animals. The food was delicious. I was able to see many of the animals in their habitat. I like the 3 R's-rescue recover and release. Afterwards had lunch which was good and just walked around the area. I went off season. Some people went to the spa. I got back to my hotel at a great time. Very nice!!!!

Hire a driver for better value
Our driver, Ernesto, was the best part of the tour. I give him 5 stars! Due the the weather and the limitations of the wine tram due to recent flooding, he truly adapted the experience to our interests. He actually ended up taking us to a brewery and to the last prison where Nelson Mandela was released. The wine tours are for people truly interested in wine. The tram part is kind of pointless if you can get a driver to take you around instead. With the tram, you are very restricted by their timing. If you do not get to the bus within an hour, you have to stay at that winery for another hour. Honestly, you can find a driver/tour guide in Cape Town for a better price with more flexibility.

Enjoyed though the weather was not very good
It was good experience at first the guide doesn’t want us to go to table mountain due to bad weather but we insisted of going and thank God it was clear a bit and managed to see something while on top. The weather was a bit freezing but managed to enjoy and take lots of photos even it’s cloudy. The Bo-Kaap is nice and the diamond store visit is also nice. It was great half day tour on a winter

Perfect for an overnight trip when in Cape Town
This is a perfect trip if you want to experience a safari. It really delivers on the big five experience. You will enjoy the guided tours & site seeing. Guides are knowledgeable on area & wildlife. Tour drives are safe & on jeep track. Well worth the time & no rushed tours. Guides are patient & friendly. Awesome place to stay. I stayed in the cottages overnight but will stay in the hotel next time around for bit more needed luxury. Cottages give you a very outdoor & rustic wildlife experience that is if you looking for an outdoor shower experience. Restuarant Food is halaal friendly & they will accommodate your needs on request. Drinks are expensive as it cater for tourists, not local prices. Staff services are fantastic & they will go beyond there duties. Try the spa at an additional cost & indoor pool. Great place to recharge & relax. Don't miss the star gazing show !

Flooded room and awful customer service
We booked a Premier Cottage for an overnight stay and game drive. The cottage was shabby and not cleaned to a good standard. At around 10pm, the room started to flood due to a heavy thunderstorm. Despite contacting reception immediately, no one came to inspect the flood or help us vacate. There was water gushing through the bathroom into the bedroom which was extremely dangerous, especially as the plug sockets were so close to the ground. We had to walk with all our luggage in pouring rain and lightening to reception. No one apologised for our experience when we got there, we were simply shown to a new room which had an awful smell and beard shavings around the sink which was disgusting. We’ve since attempted to contact the general manager to complain and request a refund for our stay and no one has replied, despite it being over a month since our stay and several emails which have been ignored. Would strongly advise against staying here. One of the worst overnight stays I’ve ever had.

Highly recommend this short safari experience
We had a great time on this day trip. Our driver from Cape Town was friendly and took good care of us. The experience at the reserve included lunch, wine, great customer service. The safari itself was a once in a lifetime experience. A great way to see these wonderful animals in their natural habitat.

    Excellent safari
Excellent from when we arrived until when we left. Food at all meal times was tasty, hot and well presented. Room was second to none with the view of the watering holes (on the reserve) and the pool area of the hotel excellent. One of the highlights has to be the family of elephants walking across the reserve in clear sight from our balcony within 10 minutes of arriving. Game drives were all fascinating, with plenty of sightings of the animals. Particularly when the lioness started to stalk the truck, the angry male elephant thrashing about in the water and the baby rhino. Special thank you to our driver, Randall, who was so enthusiasm and knowledgeable. Lovely couples massage too.

Wine tour with the red bus.
Rico and his team made our day. Very enjoyable lots of wine, I could not drink it all. It was a long, started at 8 am from the Waterfront and we did not get back till 6 pm. Would love to go back to Stellenbosch.

Just what we wanted for a safari taster
Good communications to check where we were staying quite soon after we had booked. Don't worry about not getting your pick up time until late evening the day before. Pick up was fine, driver arrived early in a small minibus so there were just 9 of us for the drive, it was good we weren't taken to a central location and then had to change onto a big bus which has happened in the past for other experiences. Stop at a service station on the way for toilets, snacks and drinks. On arrival we had a drink and then had about 1:15 before the safari truck left in which to have the delicious buffet lunch, I particularly recommend the bobotie and a nice bottle of wine with new friends. As we had some time and we had our swimming things in the bag, we jumped in the pool for a bit, even though it was pretty cold, sorry, I mean refreshing! A great tour, nice and bumpy to keep it real! We saw what we had hoped to and even got to watch some lion rumpy pumpy which was a nice touch. The guide was lovely and made it really enjoyable, the time flew by. Back to the hotel area and we jumped in the pool again before the drive back, again stopping for a break on the way.

    Life is good.
Life is good! Aquila Game Reserve was the highlight of our 16-day vacation. We only stayed one night but I wished we booked a week. From pick up to check in, on safari, star gazing, etc. we had a fantastic experience. Dreaming about going back again soon.

Super recomendo!
