Worth the experience of African drumming and 14 course African foods
Drumming and 14 course African dinner experience was a wonderful experience. Entertainment was superb. We were seated on the upper level and they did not "paint" our faces as they did for the people seated on the lower level which we expected to experience as well.

          Good experience.
The tour was great, the selected wineries were very good, with good tastings. The Guide was also very nice, explaining everything at all times, answering questions, etc. The only problem was regarding the prior organization, as we ended up being 1 hour late from the scheduled time, which shortened our experiences at the locations.

          Bad Experience/Poor Customer Service
Pick-up was 20+ minutes late and did not try to contact me at all. Activity listed for an 8:30 start, they weren’t ready to pick me up until closer to 9:20. Ended up requesting a refund and cancellation due to all of the issues. Company claimed they would cancel and provide full refund (have screenshots) but still no info or confirmation of it being processed. I do not recommend. For an all day (9hour) activity, I was told by others who attended as well as the company rep that they only visit 3 wineries. Less expensive and more efficient/timely to go by yourself.

          Great authentic Indian cuisine
Fantastic service and food. Staff are very friendly and take time to explain dishes and degrees of spice levels. If you want dishes to have an extra kick then they will accommodate this.

          Terrible and misaligned booking system
More of a scam than anything, booked through their authorised platform. Immediately after payment, they had a decency of calling me and indicated that the time slot chosen is no longer available. Disgusting to say the least.

History of apartheid and a visit around the township
Hamlet our driver was brilliant. He explained the history of apartheid. This was extended when we visited the museum in Cape Town. The trip around the township was very sobering and the people and children were amazing, Thank you Hamlet and the guide that day in the township. Well worth a visit.

Wine Tasting to Marianne and Stellenbosch estate.
This tour with Africa Eagle was the best and my first time in life visiting a wine land. Both the state had different type of wine tasting. I bought 6 bottles if wine from Stellenbosch. Stellenbosch is small town and beautiful the whole area with university in middle of the town. Good if can stay there 2 night and explore the town.

          A good night out.
Obviously a touristic experience but well executed with attention to detail. The decor, table settings and waiting staff in African prints all set the scene. The drumming hands on lessons were fun and different. The show sketches were short but good and the performers moving through the audience added to stage performances. The drinks and meal service were excellent and the food served was a tasty experience with all the shared dishes and extras offered at no extra cost if you wanted more. We were pleased to hear that any food left goes to the homeless each night. It was a very good evening and one to be recommended as we enjoyed it very much.

          Disappointment
This company messed up our booking so we missed out on the half day wine tour to Stellenbosch on our final day in Cape Town. To avoid disappointment, DO NOT USE.

          Badly let down
Unreliable company. We were booked onto half day wine tour from Cape Town to Stellenbosch on our final day in Cape Town. The company picked us up from our hotel but for a different tour and were unable to recall the wine tour bus. A very disappointing end to our otherwise lovely stay in Cape Town. To avoid disappointment do not use this company

          Not the best wine tour
This winetour started with 10/10 at the first wineyard. Very nice tasting with cheese with the different wines. Second stop was at Mariannes 5/10, nice views and ok wines, then lunch in Franschoek and then a small touristtrain to last stop wich was 1/10. Totally unintrested wine staff. Our tour guide was excellent but the driver had a poor driving... My personal suggest is that a half day tour is better.

GOLD Interactive African Drumming and dinner experience
          GOLD
We attended a dinner Jan 02 but had to book several days ahead as it was popular Dec/Jan. Great interactive show and many traditional dishes. Some we really liked, some not so much but taste is subjective. The later you wait to book, the less desirable table you’ll get. We were seated upstairs away from the railing where we couldn’t see the MainStage. Although this wasn’t ideal at first, we were able to stand and see the performance's and then they brought the show all around the restaurant and upstairs so you get a full and satisfying experience.

We arrived to Cape Town by Cruise ship which wanted somewhere around $230USD per person for this tour. Checking online, some tour Companies offered the same for around $85USD whom would drop off and pick up. If you simply call the restaurant and book yourself, it is a mere 25USD pp, (475zar), add a taxi for around $5-7USD and well, you can do the math. This restaurant is close to the Waterfront and Cruise ship terminal however, walking in that area at night is not recommended. The restaurant will ensure when you leave that you get into a trusted taxi. They went out and interviewed our driver, checked his permits/credentials and then approved him for us.

          Unmet Expectations
Unmet Expectations Dear Fellow Travelers, I write this review with a heavy heart to prevent others from falling into the same mistake I made with African Eagle day tours. My recent experience with their tour was far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to share the details to help you make an informed decision. From the beginning, the driver candidly admitted that due to time constraints, a proper exploration of the scheduled activities would be impossible. This admission alone should serve as a red flag, as it indicates a clear awareness of a problem that persists within their Cape peninsula Tours. Moreover, there's an additional entrance fee of R 190 for the penguin site, but the allocated 20 minutes after payment are woefully insufficient to fully enjoy the main attraction. The rushed nature of the tour, justified by the company condensing an 8/9-hour experience into 4 hours, only confirms that they are offering something impossible to be delivered. The most disheartening part is the constant reminder during the tour that time constraints hinder its fulfillment. This raises serious questions about the why they are selling a product that the company acknowledges cannot be delivered as promised from the outset. I reached out to the management in an attempt to prompt a reassessment of the tour's presentation, itinerary, and pricing, but unfortunately, my efforts were in vain. In reality, the van moves at a speed that doesn't allow you to take pictures or truly appreciate the surroundings. In my opinion, you'd be better off planning your own journey with an Uber, giving you the flexibility to make up your own time and truly experience the beauty of the area. Please heed this warning and consider alternatives before booking. Let this review serve as a cautionary tale to protect your time, money, and travel expectations. Safe travels,

Firstly, the day out we had, bore no resemblance to the previous reviews. It does illustrate however, how much the weather and/ or guide can influence the enjoyment or otherwise of this trip. Pick up was on time, the only surprise being that there were 7 others in the mini bus on the same trip - but this did mean we then got charged the reduced fee for a 'group'.
Our guide was personable and chatty and gave us a running commentary of what we could see and some of the history behind South Africa.
The botanical gardens (£ included) were a bit of a dead loss purely because it was the wrong time of year, but served as useful 'stretch' stop en route.
The boat based whale watching (optional - £ not included) was helped by the fact that it was wall to wall blue sky and mill pond like sea state. This was early Sept and during the 2 hrs or so, we saw probably 5 or 6 whales with calves close up and a pod of bottlenose dolphins.
Lunch was in Hermanus (£ not included) and you could go to whichever restaurant/cafe that took your fancy.
On the way back to Cape Town we stopped at a vineyard for a wine tasting session (£ included). All very nice.
Overall a full day out 08:45 to 18:00 - no complaints at all.

We booked the Hermanus Whale watching tour with African Eagle Day Tours. We did this tour July 2018. We were picked up in Cape Town, it had been raining over night and it was a overcast morning. The driver/guide told us we would drive along the scenic route to Hermanus. It was very scenic and we stopped in Betty's Bay where there is a high colony of penguins. We were told we had 20 minutes to view them. You pay 20 Rand to go onto the viewing platform. This was the highlight of the tour we saw lots of wild Penguins and Dassies. When the 20 minutes was up we went back to the guide. He informed us there would be no whale tours because of the choppy sea. We were disappointed but there was nothing the guide could do. It's a shame we then didn't spend longer time at Betty's Bay. Also one of the tour group asked if were going to the Botanic gardens which was advertised on the trip. He was told we wouldn't be going there as there wasn't much to see! So we drove off around the Hermanus area trying to spot Whales. The area is very pretty, the landscape is beautiful. We didn't see any Whales which was a shame but there wild and it's not like we were going to a zoo, so it's just bad luck. We were then dropped off in Hermanus for us to wander round on our own for two hours. Town is ok but very small and it started to rain heavily and there isn't much shelter around, so we couldn't wait to be picked up again. The guide didn't seem sure what to do next as it was only 2pm and it was a full day tour. He then said he would take us to a Winery, so we were driven there and that was shut! So we went to a viewing point which was very pretty over Hermanus. We were then told we were going to be driven back to Cape Town by the motorway it was only 2.30. We had another stop off on the way back at a farm shop where the guide did his food shopping. Got back to Cape Town at 4pm. Not what I call a full day tour. I can understand that it's not the tour company fault that the Whale tour was called off but there was no plan of what to do if the whale tour was cancelled. So it wasn't well organised by the company they need to have an iteniary/ back up plan if there is no whale tour. Not wander aimlessly to a shut winery and watch your guide do his shopping in a service station off the motorway. Disappointing!

I had high hopes for this tour, since I was told that it would be an ocean safari. The day started with the driver, Adolph, showing up at the hotel 30 minutes late. Then, I spent the majority of the time in a tour van. We stopped once for 10 minutes, and there we saw the first whale. We were told that the boat tour was optional, but after much complaining, we were put on a boat. This boat was made for 40 people; there were 60 of us on it. Wth choppy waves and high seas, it was clearly unsafe. In 6 hours of driving, we stopped for 15 minutes TOTAL which included a bathroom break. Adolphwas more concerned about getting his lunch and tips than taking care of the customers. He sped up and down the mountains with little to no regard for the 8 of us in the van.

During the six hours, we went to a garden but was told not to look around and only se their bathroom, and we were forced to have once at a restaurant of his choice, not ours. Finally, we stopped at a diamond place so he could use their credit card machine to take our payments, since he forget his machine. Finally, I was charged an extra R60, for no reason, and more than EVERYONE else in the van. It's as if Adolph's goal was to get kick backs at every stop we made.

The most disturbing thing about this whole situation is that whale season ended the first week of November, and it's now the fourth week, and they're STILL taking reservations. I learned of this situation AFTER the tour began. I understand that it's nature, and the disclaimer is that we may not be able to see any animals. Nevertheless, to actively take reservations during the off season and play up that whale watching is a possibility is unethical. If there was a 0/5, I would have picked that score, but 1 is the lowest, so I chose the 1.

People who read my reviews know that I usually try to find a bright spot. In this case, the fellow sufferers were a joy to be with during this travel ordeal. I've travelled a lot over the years, and I've never experienced this kind of disregard and shadiness ever in my experiences. I deserve an apology and a refund, but I know I won't receive either of them. Ergo, this review.

Beautiful experience. We had already seen whales in St. Lawrence Bay in Canada, but this experience was absolutely no different. Definitely worth the expense.
