- Shadine E0 contributionsDinner with a differenceVisit was for a birthday celebration that turned out to be such a befitting choice, from the delicious preparation of the 14 course meal to the accompanying entertainment, the restaurant and its staff made this such a vibrant and colorful evening. The evening’s performance is a must experience if you find yourself in CapetownWritten October 8, 2024

- RyssaG0 contributionsThe Experience of A LifetimeThis experience was so fun and engaging. No matter where you sit, you will feel like you're in the front row and the food is absolutely delicious. My advice would be to not eat any time soon before the event because you are going to get so much delicious food.Written September 30, 2024
- 124barbf0 contributionsFelt a bit rushed with limited wine yards venturing experienceOur halfday trip to Stellenbosch winelands was just a little bit below our expectations. As we are not big on wine drinking, we were thinking that a full day tour would have been too much, but with more information we would probably opt out for it instead. First, pick up times seemed to not have been communicated properly, we were picked up 30 minutes earlier than our ticket suggested, and there was another person that 'wasn't ready on time' so our guide asked him to take an Uber to the first winery. At both wineries, the tables were not ready when we arrived, and waiting times to be seated, for setting up the table and between wines were quite longer than the whole group expected (this is probably not the reflection of the tour organiser, but it didn't seem like our guide was surprised so it might be a regular occurence). With all that, we had no time at all to walk around the winelands, and even the driving tour around the city of Stellenbosch was very short with no stops or historical information. Finally, the wines were also underwhelming, which might have been a result of time limitation and choosing wineries closer to the city. Overall, if you are looking to experience the atmosphere and tastes of South African winelands, I strongly recommend to take a whole day tram tour instead. If you are in a rush and can only dedicate half a day to it, self driving to the best winery might also be for you. We met some nice people on this tour, and got to taste wines in pairing with both cheese and biltong, but we believe there is more to Stellenbosch winelands and we would like to come back for a more extensive tour.Written September 22, 2024
- TravelProNY0 contributionsGreat guideJoined this tour on Sep.8. Great tour! Driver/Guide: 5 star. Driver made an extra effort to find a whale as the windy weather cancelled boat tour and the water was very rough. His effort made it real. We saw some whales, even jumping, after driver tried several other spots for us. He was very knowledgeable and explained all the South Africa's history, culture, etc. while driving. Learned a lot about SA I didn't know. Thank you very much and he deserves a 5 star credit!! Van: 2 star. Tour was full (6 people). We were the last for pick up and available seat in the last row had no leg room. Very uncomfortable for a long ride like this tour. Van was nice and clean. Great tour! Even the weather was not so great, enjoyed this tour a lot. Not just whales, but some extra stops and driver's guides made this tour worth it to join.Written September 15, 2024
- 健二 藤0 contributionsLow quality wineThe tour took us to a different winery. All wines we tasted were low quality. The tour guide was kind but I can’t recommend this tour.Written September 13, 2024
- Q9237NBjima0 contributionsCape Town half day tourThe tour was full of many stops, including Signal Hill, which ad incredible views of the city below. Table Mountain was closed due to weather, although I would not have taken the cable car ride due to fear of heights. It was a small tour- only 7 of us total. the other six were all from Italy and very nice people. The Tour Guide was very informative and engaged with everyone on board. The only stop I wish we did not make was the first one at the Diamond location; felt like a Tourist trap to get people to purchase something, which no one did. It was well worth the booking.Written September 3, 2024
- kulsoomm6300 contributionsLost my all my travelling documents, money, credit cards and had to cancel the tripI had to cancel my day trip from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls at the last minute due to losing my passport and other documents. The Great African Tour Company only offered me a refund of $33 out of the $940 trip cost, claiming the rest was for supplies and the room, despite our booking for only one room. This was disappointing and unfair given my circumstances and industry experience. My friend was still going. If the company does not show empathy, fails to handle a situation, and still takes advantage of customers, it's disgusting. I would never suggest or recommend trusting them with myself or my safety if I am in a difficult situation. I will NEVER RECOMMEND them. They get a big Zero. They are big-time CHEATERSWritten August 23, 2024
- S1625ULianm0 contributionsFantastic daySuperb tour with Basil our guide. He was very professional and keen to ensure we had a great time. Even apologized for the misty start to the day, not his issue! Fantastic visit to the Cape National Park, Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope. Penguins were a must see stop off. Lunch included in Simon's Town, which was a good basic choice. Chapman's Drive is a must see offering spectacular views of the coastline. We did a private tour for 4 which is not cheap but great value. Highly recommendedWritten August 22, 2024
- LindsayH0 contributionsGreat vineyard tour!Really enjoyed our half day afternoon tour, our guide and driver gave a great commentary during the drive - covering some key history which was very informative. Vineyards were great with very knowledgeable staff and bought a few bottles of wine to take home. Would highly recommend!Written August 21, 2024
- P9714CWneilf0 contributionsA superb tour operatorWe booked a cape point tour through the hotel and we were picked up by a driver who was not in a good way .his driving was erratic and the guide was non existent.he also managed to have an accident. On our return to the hotel we made a complaint to the representative at the hotel who contacted the operator to make them aware of our experience.they said they will carry out an investigation and let us know the outcome in the evening. The next day the owner came to the hotel and personally apologised for the bad experience and gave us a full refund also as a gratitude gave as a hamper . This level of service I have never experienced anywhere.we were taken aback by his kindness and genuine respect and courtesy .and he could not apologise enough for his driver’s actions. He even offered a free transfer to the airport. I am deeply touched by the response by this company and would recommend you use them .they are excellent and our experience does not reflect the other tours that they offer . AFRICAN EAGLE THANK YOU VERY MUCH .Written August 15, 2024
- pattybautistamd0 contributionsEnriching winelands tourOur tour guide/driver, Wellington, is knowledgeable. He had a running commentary almost all throughout the full-day winelands tour. He also gave us enough time in each place to enjoy and take pictures. The coordination with the company before the tour can be improved though. It was difficult to obtain a confirmation of the pickup location and there was no update about the pickup time.Written August 14, 2024
- pattybautistamd0 contributionsMay skip this activityIt was a bumpy and scary ride. We were assigned to sit right next to the engine so we got dizzy smelling the fuel exhaust fumes. We did not see any whales; just a few seals, penguins and birds. Our guide and driver tried their best though. I suggest to limit the capacity of a small speedboat to 8 paying customers so that everybody gets a good seat.Written August 14, 2024
- Liza O0 contributionsEXCELLENT AND INTERESTING TOUR GUIDE ROBERTOur African Eagle tour guide, Robert, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. He just didn’t have bottled water as a company practice. He also didn’t have a copy of the original itinerary I have discussed with my overall Africa tour operator though no fault of his. But he still tried to bring us to as many places as possible. Unfortunately, the bus to the top of Cape Point was only one bus so the queue was really long. Hence, the boat to the seal island which was part of our itinerary was already closed. We were able to visit most of the places in the itinerary and we were very happy with the penguins in Boulders Beach, Cape of Good Hope, Cape Point and even made a quick drive through the Ostrich Farm. We were also able to visit the oldest winery in South Africa, Groot Constancia.Written August 12, 2024
- 2012travelingmom0 contributionsBeautiful scenery and good wineWe had a fun day visiting the beautiful Stellenbosch Winelands. Both wineries that we visited were beautiful with beautiful views. The wine was good and was paired with cheese and the first winery and dried meats at the second. Our driver/guide was friendly and informative. The half day itinerary worked for our schedule and allowed us to visit this region, enjoy the scenery and taste some wine.Written July 27, 2024

TRUST THE OTHER LOW RATINGS. I was in SA for a month and through all the ups and downs this is the only experience I would actively advise other travelers to avoid. The routes were poorly planned, the guide did not book our tickets for the tram in advance and we arrived to discover they were sold out for the time we were supposed to be departing (delaying and short-cutting the rest of our afternoon). I think this could hardly be described as a tour of wine country when the tram ride was 10 minutes and only 3 wine farms are included. For any travelers concerned about having to plan out the afternoon or hoping to avoid someone in your group being forced to sit out on the tastings for the sake of designated driving, do yourself a favor and either drive yourself or Uber to the tram station (or find a different tour). I guarantee the cost of an Uber from even an hour+ away combined with the cost of tastings is still infinitely less than you would pay for this (and you won’t have to risk your guide rushing you through tastings/ not booking lunch or tram reservations). And if you read this whole review and attribute my experience to a bad guide, you’re partly correct, but in my experience it was obvious the management and planning overall was also to blame

Disappointed. Driver one hour late in arriving. Wines were hoo hum. No free water offered on bus. Tram experience a joke - one block ride to dirt road then taken up to restaurant on a tractor ride. Two parts of your skipped! Don’t waste your money

Pick-up was 20+ minutes late and did not try to contact me at all. Activity listed for an 8:30 start, they weren’t ready to pick me up until closer to 9:20.
Ended up requesting a refund and cancellation due to all of the issues. Company claimed they would cancel and provide full refund (have screenshots) but still no info or confirmation of it being processed.
I do not recommend. For an all day (9hour) activity, I was told by others who attended as well as the company rep that they only visit 3 wineries.
Less expensive and more efficient/timely to go by yourself.

A great way to visit the different vineyards and wine regions, comfortable transport and convenient pick up and drop off to/from your hotel. Basil our guide for the day was very informative and attentive throughout the day. The combination of food and wine pairings at a couple of the vineyards as well as experiencing a short wine-tasting tram ride in Franschhoek was a perfect balance. A fun day out and some free time in the different towns for a quick walkabout and/or bite to eat. Highly recommend this if you like wine, cheese, biltong and the outdoors!

This was a brilliant tour from start to finish! We were picked up from our accommodation in Cape Town before heading to Zevenwacht, Marianne, and Rickety Bridge Wine Estates for tastings. We had brief stops in Stellenbosch and Franschhoek towns which were both nice for a quick explore but that was enough. Our guide, Maxwell, gave us a lot of history as we drove and was so patient and friendly which are definitely needed for a wine tour! Definitely do the full-day as you feel completely relaxed and not at all rushed

Picked up on time in the morning from the hotel. Then two more stops until all participants were on board.
Visited 3 wineries and tried their products. None of the advertised cellar tours actually took place. That wasn't bad either. Quality depends on the driver, who was also our tour guide. We were very lucky; he was great.
The ride on the old tram was a disappointment; the tracks were being repaired, so the journey ended after about 1km. All in all, the day was worth the money, especially when you consider the current exchange rate to the euro.

This winetour started with 10/10 at the first wineyard. Very nice tasting with cheese with the different wines. Second stop was at Mariannes 5/10, nice views and ok wines, then lunch in Franschoek and then a small touristtrain to last stop wich was 1/10. Totally unintrested wine staff. Our tour guide was excellent but the driver had a poor driving...
My personal suggest is that a half day tour is better.

Touring three wine producing areas around Cape Town was fantastic. Cornelia, our guide, was amazing. She was cheerful, enthusiastic, and a wealth. of information. She accommodate our request to visit Fairview, which produces amazing goat cheese along with the wine. The tasting room at Fairview was top notch. Marianne vineyards produces amazing wines, the Pinotage was delicious. And pairing the wines with local "biltong" (jerky) was a treat. Overall an excellent tour, a must for those curious about wines, and seeing a bit of the countryside of Cape Town.

In all honesty, if I could give this tour 4.5 stars, I would.
We were picked up on time by Denver, who was a wonderful guide. We started at Zevenvecht, where four wines were wonderfully paired with four cheeses. We then went to Marianne estate which was absolutely stunning beyond belief. The view of the mountains with the vineyards in front was beautiful. The wines were good but not incredible. It did come with paired biltong, a form of South African jerky of beef, kudu and springbok. Then we next did the wine tram, this was a highlight. So much fun for two stops, followed by a super fun tractor ride to Rickety Bridge. Rickety Bridge was where we had lunch (pizza and/or meat and cheese platter) and enjoyed four more wines.
Pros- loved visiting 3 different vineyards
The food pairings were great.
Views were beautiful.
Wine tram was a unique and wonderful experience.
Cons- we didn’t eat lunch until 4pm. There is a stop in the town of Stellenbosch and Denver mentioned we could get a snack but no one had any idea lunch was gonna be at 4pm. My advice is to definitely get a large snack because this planning wasn’t ideal.
This really was a fun tour!

If you get Basil you are in for a treat. His knowledge of Capetown and its history was wonderful. He kept us on track throughout the day and it was a pleasure to spend the day with him. The 3 wine tastings were excellent and the views beautiful.

est il possible de faire ce circuit au départ de Stellenbosch où se situe notre hôtel ?
Written November 23, 2021
Is it possible for the travelers to be picked up at the hotel (V & A Area) with their baggage, and then be dropped off at the Cape Town International Airport.
Also, what if the number in the party was in excess of 15.
Would this mean more than one vehicle, and what would the tour package cost per person /
