- suzannecH4659WW0 contributionsAmazing experience! Would definitely recommend!!I only had a short time to visit Cape Town and decided to schedule a private hike of Table Mountain with AWOL Tours. It was absolutely worth it!! The views were incredible and Bradley was an AMAZING tour guide! We discussed at the start of the hike which route I would prefer—with his advice, we ended up hiking Kasteelspoort and I had a blast! The views were incredible and he was very patient. I truly appreciated all the little details, from the pickup/drop off at my hotel to the snacks and lunch. Although the hike got a little bit difficult at times (some steep inclines/ladders), Bradley was very knowledgeable and helped me around. I felt safe the whole time! Would highly recommend this tour!Written September 27, 2024
- DiethardV10 contributionsA dive into Cape historyThe guided cycling tour is a great way to get acquianted with the history of the city in a relaxed manner. Along the way we discovered it's dutch origins, the arrival of the british and the impact of apartheid on the city. In Bo-Kaap we got treated on some nice local delicacies.Written September 24, 2024
- MarieNoelle V0 contributionsVery nice to meet the population, but It is not an "attraction"Very nice guides..visited the township on the bicycle. Mixed feeding about this trip. The third part of the townships they had bettar left out, to be honest.Written September 10, 2024

- btonetbone0 contributionsEasy way to learn the city and historyI had a very nice time on this tour. It was my first day in Cape Town, so this was a great way to learn different parts of the city, some history, and get ideas for the rest of my time here. Lelo was a wonderful guide, very informative and friendly.Written August 19, 2024
- Stay5130390 contributionsVery fun and interesting bike tourVery fun and interesting bike tour where you learn a lot about Cape Town's history and visit many important places. Tour takes place in relaxed atmosphere. Our guide (Rodriguez) gave plenty of room for questions and also gave pride for museums. The tasty snack in Bo-kaap was a nice bonus (provided by Awol)Written August 16, 2024

- Discover215880220310 contributionsBest way to see the cityJoel our guide was fantatsic - we did the private guide option and there were three of us so had plenty of detailed input via Joel who not only explained the history in all its different parts to how Cape Town is where it now is, which is vital given the misperception of everything just being about apartheid, but explains the different cultures, sections of society, the politics and the whole reality of living here today. Went to see the key places, great snack stop in Beau Kaap and the chance to saunter into local artists at their work. And get plenty of good cycle options to try out down the coast to Canps Bay and Haut Bay. Definately the best way to see the city and see local good spots. Highly recommend !!Written August 4, 2024

- Hellobunde0 contributionsLots of funDid the city-tour with the enthusiastic guide Joel. He jumped on his bike, on the street, on the sidewalk, on the street again...and so on. We've kindly followed him😄. Joel learned us a lot about the history of Capetown, the apartheid, places to be and not to be. Short break in Bo-Kaap with some excellent local snacks. We've enjoyed the tour and would recommend to do it to learn more about the city.Written July 25, 2024

- jessbecause8080 contributionsGreat way to experience the cityThe weather had been cold and rainy the day before the tour. But South African weather can change in a few minutes. We weren't sure if the tour would run but it was still on despite the rainy conditions. Thus, it was a bit cold and wet while cycling around Cape Town but there were moments of partly sunny conditions but it was otherwise mostly wet. We saw a lot of sites around the city and learned about the history of Cape Town. We even stopped a small cafe for some South African snacks which were super delicious. There is one big hill on the tour which we got off our bikes and walked the last bit (for my husband) but the route itself is otherwise pretty flat. But if you want to keep it easy, then go for the e-bike option but personally, I don't think it's needed. My husband would say otherwise. The tour was otherwise, very informative, fun, and safe for the half day tour.Written July 17, 2024

This bike tour was one of the highlights of our whole trip to South Africa! We started off by visiting the penguin colony, then did a nice hike by the Cape of Good Hope, then biked through the Cape Peninsula National Park. The landscape was beautiful and we saw unforgettable views. We stopped for a delicious lunch in Simon's town and then got back on our bikes. Our guide, Jeremy, was so friendly and knowledgeable. He was great to talk to and really appreciates the culture and history of South Africa and the world. He even stopped in a township at the end of our trip. We would definitely recommend this trip!

We had a fantastic day of biking on the peninsula, seeing ostriches, penguins, baboons and seals. The nature is spectacular! We found the whole arrangement very well thought out and prepared; we were picked up at the hotel and our guide Jeremey dropped us of with about 25k left to bike to the cape of Good Hope. From there we made a small hike across to the lighthouse and continued north for lunch at the Cape Farm House. Another short biking tour after lunch took us to the penguins in Simon´s town. All in all vi had a fantastic experience and we are especially glad and thankful that we had such a great guide with us all day!

AWOL tours and in particular our guide Bevan was amazing - on time, informative, interesting and very good with our 2 girls - we had an excellent tour seeing the penguins at Boulders beach and then cycling around the national park. The animals were even on good form and we saw ostrich, baboons, zebra, and eland. Stop off at Cape Point for photos and a walk up to the lighthouse and then a very scenic drive with lunch stop on the way back. Bevan kept the girls going with interesting animal facts and plenty of snacks. We were so impressed with the tour that we also signed up to the Masiphumelele township bike tour.

We had a fantastic day with our guide Bevan exploring the Cape Peninsula on bikes. We had researched similar tours and picked this one because of the bespoke nature of it i.e. being able to cycle as much or as little as we wanted to get the balance right between effort and enjoyment and as it turned out this was crucial on the day.
Bevan was a brilliant guide - very knowledgeable, engaging and quickly worked out a structure for the day that suited us perfectly, including key timings of where to be and when in order to avoid the crowds but also making us feel very relaxed, at ease and well taken care of.
The penguins were a great starting point and then to Cape Point itself. After that a great cycle out of the park, up the coast including numerous encounters with plenty of wildlife and a great lunch - then back to the city made it a fantastic day that we would thoroughly recommend.
You don't need to be a budding Tour De France cyclist for this - anyone who can go a pushbike should really consider this as a great way of really experiencing the Cape Peninsula and all it has to offer.

We had an incredible day with Niels touring the coast on bikes! Niels was a great tour guide and fun to be around. We began our day with a drive to the Cape of Good Hope, where we did a quick hike and then hopped on our bikes. From there Niels took us to the most scenic places to bike...and then picked us up to drive us to the next beautiful spot, skipping most of the uphill and making each bike adventure unique and manageable! We biked around Simon's Town, Scarborough, and Victoria Road (unfortunately Chapman's Peak was closed when we arrived). We were amazed by all the beauty we saw, and we had so much fun! AWOL was so flexible and helped us plan a trip that was specific to our interests. When we needed to adjust the timing at the last minute, they were nothing but accommodating! They definitely wanted us to have the best experience possible and we certainly did!

Wow, it was an amazing day, biking, walking and driving from highlight to highlight across the peninsula! Many thanks to Niels who guided me all along and made it a very very pleasant day.
Biking along the coast road to Cape Point was soooo beautiful, as a figure of speak, the road was just too short..., same for biking the 'Circular drive'.

This was the highlight of my visit - my guide Paul took me on the iconic ride out Chapman’s Drive. I got to climb the Suikerbossie after hearing about it on car tours! I wish I was staying longer so I could go out again.

AWOL again provided us an absolutely superb experience. After an epic mountain biking trip last year in Stellenbosch, this year we did road biking on the cape peninsula and mountain biking in the Stellenbosch mountains. The guides are super knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. They tailor trips to suit your abilities and goals. And they deliver! I highly recommend AWOL and will use them again and again!
