What to expect
This small-group, day trip is a combination of a game drive and beach excursion that starts with hotel pickup around 6am.  About 2-hours into your day, you will stop for a picnic style breakfast and a have a chance to stretch your legs and take a few photos. Continuing on, you will explore the eastern shores of Isimangaliso Wetland Park, which was declared a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1999 for its natural beauty.  The park is home to an array of animals like buffalo, rhino, antelope, and an abundance of birds with spectacular lookout points over Lake St Lucia as well as the Indian Ocean. At around noon, your guide will prepare a BBQ lunch consisting of beef steak, sausage, rolls and salads at a spot at the beach or at one of the picnic spots in the park. Next you will stop at Cape Vidal which is one of the most beautiful beaches in South Africa. If the weather and tide permit, you will have the opportunity to snorkel (snorkeling masks provided). Should the tide, weather or visibility not make it possible to snorkel, you can still go for a walk on this beach or swim behind the protecting reef.   Return to St. Lucia at around 2:30pm with drop-off at your hotel.

St. Lucia to Cape Vidal makes for a glorious adventure in paradise
Nov 2019
We met Arno, our knowledgeable, friendly Monzi Safari guide, early in the morning and quickly determined we would let the day come to us rather than set a strict time schedule for the itinerary for our trip. The weather was warm, the sky was cloudless and Arno was as curious as we were to see where the day would take us. We took every opportunity on our way to Cape Vidal to investigate sightings of birds, reptiles, insects and mammals as Arno filled in the background information and insights that made the journey so enjoyable. We stopped briefly at a rocky beach with a spectacular view of the crashing surf as we enjoyed a tasty breakfast laid out by Arno. At Cape Vidal we explored the picnic site and the parking lot with lots of fishing and surf enthusiasts before heading to the beach area for a swim in the surf of the Indian Ocean. We caught up with Arno later in the picnic area and enjoyed a great barbecue lunch that he had prepared. We headed back to St. Lucia shortly after lunch, but at no time did we feel rushed or missing out on experiencing the awesome gifts offered by the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Our trip exceeded our hopes and expectations. It presented us with memories for a lifetime and a distinct appreciation for the major part Arno played in allowing this day to find us.

A great day out !
Nov 2019
A wonderful day Arno was a superb guide !He was knowledgeable about the fantastic wildlife we saw whilst being extremely personable and professional...he could even cook !!!
A whole series of great experiences , my wife a keen ornithologist was in her element ..we saw a number of larger creatures and animals as well .
The snorkelling was incredible , for those who had concerns our guide was very safe conscious and was in the water ready to support any of us who needed it !
Once again a great which we will never forget !!

Excellent
Nov 2019 • Friends
It was very interesting and funny with the rhino scratching on the car.
We swam into the ocean at Cape Vidal beach .
Our guide was very patient to let us see the animals.
We spent a very good day, maybe the most beautiful of our stay in St Lucia.

Park amazing, tour company failure
Nov 2019
Our tour company never picked us up or contacted us that they were cancelling the trip. We waited for over an hour before they sent two teens to find us and tell us it was too muddy to go. We know for,a,fact other tour companies took people on the same trip that day because we almost got in the wrong truck. We went to get a refund for our trip but instead the failed company rebooked us with another company. It turned out perfect because we were the only two people on that tour with an amazing tour guide
As for the Park itself, absolutely, stunning. The vast Park with many different types,of landscape, the two totally different beach fronts , the. Animals,, just breathtaking. My favorite part of this vacation so far.

Unforgettable Day
To say that we had one of our most fantastic days in South Africa with our guide Arno would be an understatement. The scenery and wildlife are of outstanding natural beauty and wonder, but what really brought it to life was Arno who couldn’t have been more insightful, upbeat and fun.

Not only did he have intimate knowledge of seemingly everything in the park, he appears to love the area and had great personal stories to tell. He got us up close and personal with the wildlife (dung beetles, dung balls and all!!) and was also a great cook, preparing for us a delicious meal near Cape Vidal whilst an eager Yellow Billed Kite watched from a tree above.

The highlight of the animal sporting was without doubt the Black Rhino we saw on our return leg, and the 3 White Rhino which came within a metre of the truck whilst grazing. Simply unforgettable

Small but precious - self-drive through Isimangaliso Wetland Park just outside of St Lucia
Mar 2019
We had a glorious day of game viewing just outside ST Lucia. Some of the best viewing I have had. I was a wet day showers interspersed with sun. Some highlights were a herd of giraffes, 4 young and 6 adults. The adult couples doing ballet with their long necks entwined. It was incredible. They were right next to a herd of Buffalo which was at least 65 strong. The picnic area was lovely, clean an empty the day we were there. The next day we drove to Cape Vidal to snorkel, the reef is localised but lots of different, brightly coloured fish to see.

Worthwhile
Our guide sabelo was very friendly and knowledgeable. He showed genuine interest as he explained the flora of the land. He went into detail about the animals. We spotted the animals we were expecting except for cheetahs and leopards.
We were expecting snorkeling but unfortunately the current was too rough.
We liked to be able to stop at the beach and go for a swim and sunbake.
The food was great.
This was our favourite tour as it was interactive, being able to taste the fruits.
It was also the most value for money tour.

Great Beach at Cape Vidal to spend time with Family
Oct 2018
We are a family of 5 and spend a day the park for game drive and beach. We saw very few animals (season and time depending of course). Nature and Park with beaches are great and highly recommend to spend at day at the beaches.

His incredible knowledge of wildlife, intense passion for his job, and willingness to go the extra mile to delight every person on the tour made for a truly memorable experience. We would like to thank Arno and the entire Monzi team for their outstanding customer service and recommend Monzi Safaris without hesitation.

May 2018
What a magical place to go, whether you love snorkelling, swimming, fishing or just braaing and tanning. Lovely wild life to see while driving from St.Lucia to Cape Vidal. When at Vidal ensure all your foodstuff is locked away....vervet monkeys will have a ball!!!!
