First, the trip itself - wow! Shelldon's knowledge of the timeline and events surrounding the battles is encyclopaedic and he absolutely brings it to life by stopping at key points and describing the battle plan, as well as the heat and deprivations and the vast distances covered. The sites are beautifully kept and quite moving, with wonderful little museums and even a tiny cafe.
Secondly, South Africa itself - what an amazing country but experiencing major struggles with infrastructure and progress. Shelldon displayed a depth of compassion and understanding relating to these ongoing struggles that really helped us understand how people are trying to move forward. His knowledge of different cultures is amazing. Thank you Shelldon - a day to remember!

I cannot recommen Shelldon, and this tour, highly enough. We've just used hsi services for a shore excursion to Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift while in the port of Richard's Bay. This was a bucket list item for my travel partner and I was happy to tag along in the hope of enjoying some nice scenery en route. Having no real prior knowledge of the region, and my friend's mostly as a result of watching the movie "Zulu", Shelldon's encyclopaedic knowledge of the history leading to this conflict kept us enthralled for the entire three hour journey there. And once on the actual sites, it was all brought to life so clearly. And for the non-military history buffs, the scenery en route was jaw-droppingly beautiful and much more than I could have hoped for. As I said at the beginning, I cannot recommend this trip, and Shelldon in particular, enough! Thank you for a truly memorable day!

We visited the Zulu Battlefields last week. From the moment he collected us at our hotel till the moment he dropped us back he gave us the best of days. He is so informative and enthusiastic about his subject that at the end of the day we appreciated so much more of how the battle came about and about its outcome. He never rushed and explained the whole campaign in depth and we really enjoyed the experience.A comfortable vehicle with stops for lunch that he provided.A long day but thoroughly enjoyable. When we visit again he will be our No 1 choice.

An absolutely wonderful day out with Shelldon at Isandwala and Rorkes Drift. We were hesitant at first thinking we could save some money and do it on out own ! We are so so glad we didn't, Shelldons knowledge on the two sites is absolutley unmatched , we had stories from start to finish on the road and we certainly wouldn't have known all the amazing spots we were driving past had we done it ourselves. We had a wonderful time putting together the events that took place in these historical battlefields ! While it is a long drive it was worth every minute in the car as Shelldon told us amazing stories and educated us on so many different topics ! Keep doing what your doing Shelldon honestly your expertise are rare and have made a lasting impression on all of us who joined your tour. We couldnt recommend this tour and our guide enough to amy future visitors !

There is no point hiding the fact that this is a very long trip for a day tour, but there is also no other way to see the battlefields as they are very remote ! Shelldon does everything, not just the driving part as some « guides » usually do.
His explanations were truly insightful and we really discovered something we were not aware of. These places are very moving, even for non British people, I really recommend going there. Despite the long road, we never felt like we were in a rush, which I appreciate a lot (as I had to translate in another language for my mother) Furthermore, despite some African surprises on the road, he managed to keep the tour on time for the whole duration of the trip. Just amazing.
Thank you !
