About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Mkstrr0 contributionsAn easy and fun way to see Africa's animals, only a short drive from central Jo'BurgAn exceptional half day tour. Our driver (Kevin) picked us up early from our hotel. Once at the Mongena reserve within Dinokeng we were able to have some breakfast before Charlie took us out for the morning. Saw loads of animals including lions and white rhinos. Charlie was exceptionally motivated and intelligent, which made for a fantastic time. Stopped for snacks part-way through the safari drive, before he took us back to Mongena, and Kevin was waiting to take us back to Jo'Burg. A very easy half day, highly recommend.Written September 8, 2024
- DayTrip539864057970 contributionsThe Safari was none other than spectacularThe Safari experience was AMAZING! Our driver was so hospitable and knowledgeable about the animals. The Safari grounds were beautiful and the people were so kind. We saw more animals than expected.Written July 31, 2024
- Happiness685688877410 contributionsGreat tour guideBen, took us on a half-day tour of the lion park. He turned up on time, was very friendly, and knew a lot about the park. I highly recommend him and will encourage others I know visiting Joburg to use his services. A great experience.Written July 17, 2024
- Ben_Larouche0 contributionsEverything I paid for and moreBen was my driver and arrived on time and was pleasant to talk to on the way to the Horseback Safari. The property is beautiful and rustic and James and Bianca were fantastic guides.Written June 16, 2024
- zchkai0 contributionsSafe, educational and value-added experience of my tripAs a solo female traveler, I appreciated clear communications via email for the registration, payment and confirmation. Once in the city, the office communicated via WhatsApp (once I figured out to look there) to ensure I connected with the correct guide, time and place. Ismael was a safe driver, friendly and professional, with great knowledge and historical info. We covered a lot of ground during the tour: Mandela's home, Soweto, Vilakazi Street, a shack village, Hector Peterson memorial; the Apartheid Museum is a must-see to expand your cultural awareness; great info and displays - could easily take 1-2 hours.Written March 4, 2024

- 50dougr0 contributionsIt wasn't bad, but not greatCaves were closed due to flooding, which is the whole reason we booked it, museum was interesting but not totally worth itWritten December 2, 2023
- 160frankies0 contributionsTop tier experienceMy partner and I were picked up by Darren from our hotel, and we headed over to the campsite ran by Craig in close proximity to Pilanesberg. The setup was basic with a very rustic feel - it was good for the soul to get immersed in nature and just switch off from our everyday lives. There was also less basic accommodation available, but we wanted the authentic African camping experience. Darren also took us to Sterkfontein caves, which was incredible to learn about and explore. The entire experience was absolutely one in a million; I can’t thank them enough for a tour that I will never forget. We were made to feel so welcome - I’m definitely planning on returning some day. Darren is friendly and professional, with a real fountain of knowledge. Thank you for a brilliant holidayWritten November 9, 2023
- sennaitg20220 contributionsMy first Safari at sunsetI travel for work and had a free day so I thought I would see some animals while in South Africa, in Johannesburg . The tour was amazing with Erin, from Mongena game lodge. I saw so many animals up close and got to see twice zebras giraffes! Erin was a helpful and insightful tour guide. We had the sunset safari and the view was spectacular! I included some photos to share the amazing scenario that I saw. The reservation includes pick up from your hotel and Ben was an amazing driver. I would recommend this trip to anyone!Written October 23, 2023
- brentrC3651QE0 contributionsCultural Experience (Caterpillars optional!)Our first trip and first stop in Africa. We made a last minute reservation for the following day and they were able to accommodate us. We had Ben for our guide and he was prompt, courteous and answered all our questions. The staff at the village were top notch and all seemed to really enjoy being there. From the food to the dancing we enjoyed every moment… Even the optional dried caterpillar. We would highly recommend this tour and Ben in particular.Written September 14, 2023
- 10val_ried0 contributionsTerrible experience - DrakensbergReally disappointed in the quality of the tour we did with this company: ‘3 day Drakensberg slackpacking and hiking’. Drakensberg is an amazing beautiful landscape, but our guide and the service was a nightmare. First of all, the front tire of the car was already leaking before the start of our trip. We did only 1 of the 3 hikes that were mentioned on the programme. The guide disappeared in the middle of the night without saying anything to drink and party. The last day, we had to give him a call at 7:30 am as he was not yet back. We contacted the company afterwards. They refuse to give a reimbursement because they are a small company. But we paid also a lot of money for this…Written September 4, 2023
- 151erickas0 contributionsOur first safari was amazingWe absolutely loved everything about the Safari tour guide Ben was amazing. He was patient and worked with us. I will recommend this to everyone. We were able to see the big 5 and more we loved the snacks and drinks he provided and his strong passion for the animals.Written August 28, 2023
- Rodge_Podge0 contributionsExcellent safari close to the citySince our trip was quite short, the half-day safari was perfect for getting a small taste of nature near Johannesburg. The team at South Africa Adventures was quick to respond to any questions and booking was easy and straightforward. Tebogo, our driver to and from Dinokeng Reserve, was a really friendly guy who was very punctual and was considerate when planning logistics to make sure that we got to the tour on time, and also very informative when it came to my various questions about South Africa. Our safari guide, Jacques, was great - he was always encouraging questions from all the visitors and his passion for his work and care for the environment were very clear.Written August 14, 2023
- dogdre20030 contributionsAwesome Mini SafariThis was a great safari. It was my first time, and the whole process was smooth and safe. I was picked up promptly at the appointed time and arrived at the gaming lodge early. The driver, Bongi, was extremely pleasant and informative. I had planned to sleep on the way there, but we spoke the entire one-hour drive. At the reserve, I checked in and wandered the property until we departed. Our guide was informative and attentive to the interests of the guests. The whole experience lasted two and a half hours, with a break built in, where we were provided snacks and drinks. Managed to see lots of things: birds, Mikey’s, impalas, zebras, wildebeest, elephants, etc. No lion made himself visible at this hour in the morning. Overall, a great experience, and I highly recommend it!Written August 6, 2023
