About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- KarenVS9220 contributionsWonderful services, extreme kindness and flexibility!I definitely recommend Shinzelle Safaris!! In the first place, we wanted a custom 6-days tour for our family, which Danielle from Shinzelle arranged exactly as we wanted at a good price. Unfortunately, part of our group missed a flight connection and arrived 3 days later than expected with a complete uncertainty about their luck day by day. Danielle was amazingly helpful, trying to set everything "in real time" so that all the scheduled activities would be squeezed in the remaining days and the unlucky ones could enjoy them all, while the rest of us were enjoying nice game drives as planned. In addition, the quality of all the services provided in the package was awesome. The lodge in which we were accommodated was just fantastic (African Rock Lodge), the guides and drivers (Jeffrey, Vincent, Sibu) were extremely nice, kind and helpful. Thanks to all of you guys, you made our experience great in spite of the mishap!Written July 28, 2024
- fernandasamper0 contributionsExcellent experience safari and lodgeExcellent service despite last minute lodge change. Kruger guide Edson was fantastic 5/5 Have had excellent experience with Danielle via email and whats app. Despite last minute change in lodge we have enjoyed Tshukudu lodge. Great service and sunrise sunset safari. Our guide Edson is amazing had a adventure packed Kruger day safari with a unique and unforgettable experience. Saw white lion mating. Dingo family. Leopard. Cheetah stalking. Elephant families with little ones. Zebras. Wilderbeast. Impala and so much more. Hipos and zebras. Lunch was in a great restaurant. Exceeded all our expectations.Written April 2, 2024
- 7107Islands0 contributionsA truly memorable safari experienceAfter looking at a few safari operators, we settled with Shinzelle, given it’s competitive pricing and Danielle’s sincerity in making our safari experience truly memorable. And it was! From our pick up at JNB to our return trip, all activities were on time and done with utmost care. Our accomodate was perfect, just 15min from the Phabeni Gate. And of course, the highlight was the Kruger Safari experience and panorama tour. We saw all Big 5 in their natural environment, plus more! Special shout out to Jeffrey our safari guide who was absolutely fantastic! The guy has eagle eyes in spotting Kruger’s treasures, including 3-inch chameleons crossing the road, twice! Then after two crowded sightings of the elusive leopard, Jeffrey found one all to ourselves, resting on a tree. OMG! A big thanks to Danielle and the Shinzelle team. You truly deserve a five-star rating. More power to you!Written March 30, 2024
- akarlsso0 contributionsA day in Kruger! Wonderful!Great day in Kruger National Park! We had a lovely day in the park, which started a bit slowly with the hot weather, but ended excellent with beautiful lion and leopard sightings! Very thankful to our guide Edson who took us on this trip! Very good guide with great knowledge, but also a great sense of humor. I was also very impressed by how helpful he was with other guides on their tours, turning around and catching up with them to give them tips about sightings. Very considerate! Thank you for this lovely day!Written January 16, 2024
- shonnaybb0 contributionsAvoid!!What a sham of a company. Indecent and money hungry. The first day our driver seemed disgruntled and went out of the way to be unhelpful. He never even introduced himself or asked our names. Before we took off, I made sure to tell him my knee was giving me issues. However, whenever we made a stop, he went out of his way to park as far away as he could to watch me struggle to get in and out of the vehicle and walk an unnecessary distance when he could have parked closer. I believe any courteous man, especially a guide, would've at least offered to help. He didn't speak to us until we had to sign papers before entering the park. While on the safari, water was supposed to be included, instead, the driver took a bottle out of the case for himself and not even once offered us any. I have not received such poor service on a tour and I've been to over 40 countries. Also just having met this man, we had done nothing to him, but this was how he decided to treat paying customers. I've completed other safaris in Africa, including the Serengeti and never received such offensive service from a company. I did not travel this far to South Africa, especially for my birthday to deal with a boorish and disgruntled driver. After mentioning our concerns to the company, the lady who coordinated the trip's first response was: "I am incredibly shocked and disappointed to hear the feedback from today and we do certainly value our guest experience above all! This is very unlike Jeffery and there are a few points that I have seriously addressed with him. I am sincerely disappointed that this was your first impression and certainly trust that we can redeem ourselves for the rest of your trip. I did give Jeffery your names and so I suppose as he knew them he did not ask - but again this is not who he is and certainly have never received this kind of feedback about him before". What a complete joke of a response! This is the feedback we have given and clearly how we were treated. I don't have the creativity or time to make this nonsense up, they have implied. Seems she cared more to defend the driver than accept our feedback. She also wanted us to take the same driver for the rest of our tour. Clearly showing they didn't care about our feedback. However, we refused, and they found us a new driver who was the opposite of the first. He was polite, cared about what my friend wanted to see, informative, and come to find out, was from a different company. Making me believe all their drivers are rude or the first driver is known to be disgruntled and gets the last minute customers, as we booked our tour a day or so before. The company then offered a bottle of wine as a "nice" gesture. However, it seemed disingenuous and not acceptable considering the driver ruined our day and experience. Additionally, the coordinator was told I was not feeling well and the lodge never gave us the bottle. After falling ill I was unable to participate in the final two safaris. I reached out to the coordinator for a refund for those days, and was told no, because everything was a package, and the company didn't offer refunds. I then asked for at least a refund for the entrance fees to Kruger and that became an issue as well. The coordinator then proceeded to go back and forth with me and say that she had done so much to accommodate us. I don't think people deserve sympathy or rewards for doing their jobs. Additionally, she kept mentioning how she accommodated us, by finding a new driver, something that would not have been an issue if the first one hadn't been inconsiderate. I then spoke to the manager who was also arrogant and unaware of what customer service is. I asked for a refund for the driver the first day as his attitude and demeanor was unacceptable. His response was that refund of any sort wasn't necessary as the driver provided a service. Again, clearly diminishing and invalidating our concerns, and defending a useless driver. Even after asking if it's ok to provide poor service, he said his driver still deserved to get paid! I did not ask him for any other reimbursement, outside of the refund for the driver and the entrance fees for the park that clearly were not used, as I did not participate in the other safaris. He declined to reimburse for the driver and said he would reach out to the other company to see if they would reimburse. Also, in the beginning of our conversation said if the other company said no, they would reimburse. That sentiment changed towards the end of the conversation. I guess after not backing down that the whole company has poor customer service and was unbelievable. As of today, I still have not heard back from this deceitful company. I guess the company isn't doing well as they choose to hold onto every dollar they receive at the expense of customers, even in the presence of poor service. I have never had to write a poor review for a tour company, but for this company, it is more than deserved. Please find another company!!Written December 5, 2023
- davidtT7505BH0 contributionsWhat an amazing time with Shinzelle Safari'sWhat an unforgettable experience on our safari with Shinzelle! Everything was perfect and we will be forever grateful to Danielle for stepping in and rearranging everything at very short notice at our request! Our guide - Jason's encyclopaedic knowledge of the sights and sounds of Kruger was very interesting and entertaining. The accommodation was fabulous and our time on safari will stay with us forever.Written November 28, 2023
- K1691MFphilip0 contributionsAn amazing experience!Due to COVID we had been waiting 3 years to do this Safari and it didn't disappoint! Many thanks to Danielle, our guides and hosts who looked after us and ensured that we had an amazing experience. We had 2 safaris in the Pridelands conservancy and spent 2 full days in Kruger where we got incredibly close to the big 5 animals. We also had very rare and special encounters with wild dogs and cheetahs! Seeing wild dog pups and hyena cubs was like something from David Attenborough. We also did a 1 day tour of the Blyde River Canyon which showed us beautiful areas and taught us a lot about the local culture. African Rock Lodge where we stayed was extremely comfortable, with excellent food, staff and very friendly hosts. It also had lots of interesting wildlife wandering close by as it is inside the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate. All in all, an unforgettable trip!Written October 19, 2023
- joellE166KF0 contributionsSafari Kruger ParkSensational experience with Shinzelle Safaris! We enjoyed every minute in the park, seeing the Big Five! Everything was perfectly coordinated. We spent five days in the park, which was enough to see all the animals you could hope for if you're lucky. The attention and coordination with our ranger were flawless. Whenever we needed something, they went out of their way to assist us. An amazing week!Written September 13, 2023
- Robbie18990 contributionsAmazing experience! We had an amazing 5 days Kruger Safari with Shinzelle and especially with our ranger / guide Jeffrey. We could see not just the big 5 but ….. the 7 magnificents! Our guide made it so especial. He knew absolutely everything about animals’ behavior…. and with a great sense of humor. Always on time and always ready to go a bit further seeking for the animals. If we ever go back to Kruger we’ll repeat with Shinzelle and Jeffrey.Written September 10, 2023
- 7teresan0 contributionsBest Trip everBest Holiday Ever!!! Everything about this holiday was brilliant, wonderful location & accommodation. The communication was excellent & the way the whole trip was organised was fantastic from start to finish. I do not want to do any other type of holiday ever again! The Manor house was wonderful, every person there made our trip what it was, our guides, both from Shinzelle & at the Manor House were great & knowledgeable. Food was delicious, the watering hole opposite the pool was fabulous too. Beautiful place, wonderful people, best trip of my life, cannot wait to come back & I will!Written August 21, 2023
- U8556HKandrewc0 contributionsFabulous safari, great serviceWe enjoyed an outstanding and truly memorable safari with Shinzelle in March 2023. It was five days and four nights split between two lodges in different private game reserves in the Hoedspruit/Balule area. We toured the Blyde River Canyon area one day and another a full-day safari in the Kruger National Park. Otherwise it was early morning and evening safari drives in the reserves, including the evening of our arrival and the morning of our departure. The lodges were beautifully set in wild areas, but yet comfortable, with great service, and great food. Each had its own distinctive character, the first we especially loved the shaded dining area with "infinity" pool on an elevation with a view-to-die-for of the Drakensberg mountains and the sunsets. We found this lodge hard to leave. The second, we loved the separate, private, comfortable, round-cottage-type rooms with airy, high thatched-roof ceilings. Throughout, we enjoyed fabulous game drives, with different types of experiences in the different reserves and Kruger NP. Our first drive, in the light of the early evening, and then into the dark, we spent much of the time following a pride of lions on the move and looking to hunt. In another we found ourselves surrounded by 40 or more elephants for an extended period, with many young, and many large females, all happily feeding. I think the highlight was the all-day Kruger tour, simply for the abundance of wildlife, large herds of zebra, giraffes, buffalo, elephants, impala, and too many others to be listed. (It was March, there had been good rains and things were very green with abundant grass, very beautiful.) Also, birds. The only predators we saw at Kruger were a pack of wild dogs that were resting and relaxing beside the road, and that we sat and watched just a few feet from us for quite a while. But we had already had multiple intimate encounters with lions, so no problem there. Logistically, things were well organized and smooth. Shinzelle had a guide (Johnny, who we loved) assigned to take care of us for other than the safari drives in the private reserves. So he guided our Blyde and Kruger tours. A nice thing about visiting in March (other than the nice weather and the bountiful grass and flowers) was that the lodges were not very busy so we had very small groups on the drives, and it was just us for Blyde and Kruger, so we had a good chance to get to know our guide. We took the transfer van from OR Tambo to Hoedspruit and back. This was efficient and worked out fine. My thought is that the journey is quite long and in some places the road is not great. If cost is not important you might consider flying.Written August 8, 2023
- patricknL9782SQ0 contributionsNot booked in to the camp quoted and paid for.We had a great time, but that was down to our driver and guide VJ who was sub-contracted by Shinzelle. I found Danielle to be responsive on communication but after getting and paying for a 5 day trip at Satara, our guide informed us that we were not booked to stay there at all. There had been no mention of moving camps prior to this though an email had mentioned "showing us" both the centre and southern areas of Kruger. We ended up at Letaba and Olifants. The accomdation (rondel) at Letaba was clean and all facilities were provided but I can't say I found the viewing great. Enjoyed the dinners in the evening. The viewing was better around Olifants, but the accomodation was awful and I would not recommend anyone stay in this dump. Door locks broken, toilets and showers stank, no power to fridge at all, no cutlery or crockery for use. For the last two days of our trip VJ drove us down near Satara (where we had originally been told we were staying). There was more game in general and actual herds of animals (zebra, buffalo, wildebeest, etc). On the last day and a half (near Satara) we saw leopards, cheetahs, lions and wild dogs of which there was not a hint of at the other camps. We had a great Safari(thanks to VJ) and would go back to Kruger but would be unlikely to book with Shinzelle, due to being moved from Satara to areas with less game and accomodation that is not fit for use.Written August 8, 2023
- jimmye8640 contributionsVery delightful and smooth safari trip!We had a wonderful time. The trip was very well organized and all the staff (at the lodge, the shuttle bus drivers, the tour guides) were competent courteous and punctual. Shinzelle Safaris delivered above and beyond our expectations.Written August 5, 2023
- helenbrodie0 contributionsMade my dreams come true!We booked the four day Kruger and Private Reserve Tour with Danny, staying at Khaya Ndlovu Manor House. First of all, the accommodation and food was first class. The manor is beautifully decorated, with a deck area and infinity pool overlooking a water hole, where you can watch zebras and other wildlife come down to drink. The game drives were out of this world! Johnny our guide for Kruger was so knowledgeable and could spot all types of wildlife. We were extremely lucky and saw everything we could, and the trackers and guides at Khaya Ndlovu also went above and beyond to track cheetahs and lioness. Everything was perfectly organised by Danny, so we just had to sit back and soak up the whole experience.Written January 29, 2023
- Jeff B0 contributionsAwesome Kruger Safari!Amazing trip on safari with Shinzelle! It’s a great company, super easy to work with. I booked my trip very late in the day but they managed to accommodate all of my wishes. Our guide, Nick, was awesome and gave us a great experience. We spent 5 days in the park and saw so many incredible animals (including all the big 5). Only miss was the cheetah but we will save them for next time! 4 days would also be a good amount of time for this trip but I wouldn’t recommend less than that. Highly recommend booking a safari in Kruger with Shinzelle.Written September 6, 2022

Truly a life changing experience! Far exceeded my expectations and I can’t wait to do this again! We were picked up on time every day. Our driver (s) were very knowledgeable and explained so much. I really learned a lot aside from seeing the beautiful wildlife and scenery. I would rate the safari experience a 10 out of 10!!!

An incredible experience. Thank you Danielle and Maria! My boyfriend and I visited Shinzelle earlier this month for the 4 day/3 night safari package.
Some things to note:
+ GREAT communication from Danielle, start to finish. We felt well taken care of and well-informed about all the details of our trip and what we should expect.
+ Very reasonable prices and high value. Delicious, homemade food! We're both very picky eaters and enjoyed near everything served. As a vegetarian, Danielle even created dishes inspired by the meat dishes so I'd feel included. So sweet!
+ Knowledgeable tour guides: Keegan, Martin, and one other gentleman whose name slips me now were friendly and informative. Our night safari guide wasn't at their level in terms of personality and friendliness, however, though we did see some great animals that night.
This was an unforgettable trip. Thank you, Shinzelle!

Honestly can not recommend Shinzelle enough! We’ve had the most memorable experience and are now sat at Johannesburg airport waiting to go home and are truly sad to be leaving.
From the moment we were picked up from the airport everything was seamless. We were even given a complimentary upgrade to the honeymoon suite which was awesome.
The food was honestly incredible- huge thanks to the fantastic chef who prepared everything and to Amy for making everything run to plan and even arranging for us to go to an elephant sanctuary- a definite highlight!
But by far the best part of our trip was their FANTASTIC guide Jayden. He is like a walking encyclopaedia and answered every one our questions with ease. Every day he went out of his way to make our experience special and found us every animal- even the notoriously hard to find wild dog. We honestly cannot thank Jay enough for making this trip so incredible. Jay- if you get to read this, if you’re ever in London look us up. We’ll happily return the favour and give you a tour of our concrete jungle 😉!
If your hesitating about booking with Shinzelle- please do it, will be the best decision you ever make!

One of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. My wife and I took the 4 Day tour in July 2019. Everything was unbelievable. Jay is the best safari guide anyone could ever ask for. We had him to ourselves for most of our trip and we had so much fun. Great personality, incredible knowledge of the park and the animals in it. He made it his mission to find everything that we wanted to see. The accommodations were beautiful. We stayed in the honeymoon suite at The Windmill Country Retreat. Everything was first class. The hospitality, service and food were all top notch. We had candle lit dinners waiting for us each night when we came back from our safari. We will DEFINITELY be coming back in the future. Anyone considering doing a safari in Kruger should do it with Shinzelle.

Danielle and the team are very friendly, hospitable and accommodating. The lodging was excellent, and the meals were delicious. Our guides were top-notch. As we felt like a lot of the time was spent in vehicles (getting from JNB to Kruger and at the park) and we had seen the "big five" plus many other animals, we requested some changes to our last day - a walk with bird watching along the Sabie River. They were very happy to make the change and because of this we experienced another biome with amazing bird life in the lush foliage of the Sabie valley.

My wife and I did a four day safari with Shinzelle Safaris in late June and could not recommend them more highly. We had a fantastic experience on the safari with Kayro who has an encyclopedic knowledge of Kruger Park. His intimate knowledge of the ecosystem of Kruger made our time in between seeing animals enjoyable as we learned about interesting plants and the history of Kruger. Perhaps most appreciated by us was his insistence that we not rush around the park looking for the Big Five (which it appeared many other safari companies in Kruger do), but rather that we travel at a leisurely pace and enjoy the animals as they came to us. His strategy paid off as we ended up seeing the big five anyway but saw a ton of other amazing things as well.
In terms of accommodation and service, the Windmill was excellent. My wife and I stayed in the honeymoon suite which was tastefully decorated and very secluded. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed sitting on our balcony watching Vervent monkeys while drinking a glass of wine. Zamie our host was excellent, attending to our every need and sitting down to chat with us to share stories. The food at the Windmill was excellent and just what we needed after a long day on Safari
Finally, Danielle and Brandon were excellent trip coordinators. Danielle was happy to take any of my questions (of which I had many) before our trip and was extremely friendly and helpful during our stay. Brandon was very helpful and volunteered to drive us to Nelspruit due to the fact that we were going to miss our bus Johannesburg.
If we ever head back to Kruger we will definitely use Shinzelle!

From the warm and efficient initial contact, all the way through to the emotional goodbyes, our safari holiday experience with Shinzelle Safaris was truly amazing and great value. From the outset Danielle was there to answer any and every query and detail, speedily and informatively. She arranged everything to run perfectly smoothly from pickup at Johannesburg Airport, the arrival, the accommodation, the meals, the safari times and itinerary, the Panoramic tour, and finally the drop off back at Johannesburg Airport. All of our tour guides were well informed, knowledgeable, professional, flexible and had our safety as a priority. The vehicles were new, clean, comfortable and reliable and afforded great viewing opportunities. The accommodation and dining area were modern with a rustic twist and with a hint of luxury, exactly to our taste and the bed was huge and super comfy. We loved all of the meals and my restricted diet was catered for perfectly. During our 3 night stay we went on safari into Kruger National Park on a night drive, a morning drive and also a whole day drive. We saw an incredible amount of diverse animals and birds including the big 5 and some amazing scenery on the Panoramic tour! Well done Shinzelle Safaris and thank you so much. Be prepared to get up at 4am to get the best viewing of the wild animals and have warm layers, binoculars and cameras. The roads are mostly tarmac so it's generally a smooth ride. And note the summer there is the rainy season and so the best viewing times are later in the year!

What an amazing experience we had with Shinzelle Safaris. We did the 4 day Kruger and panoramic tour and couldn't have asked for a better deal, definitely your monies worth.Danielle and Brandon compliment each other well and what a dynamic duo they are, one of a kind. Brandon is extremely knowledgeable and passionate (and patient too) about his work, like a walking encyclopedia, making every safari experience different. Danielle welcomed us warmly and her bright and vibrant personality made the safari even more special. The food and accommodation was good with room for minor improvements. Nonetheless, both of them ensured that all of our needs were met 100%. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the trip and would highly recommend Shinzelle Safaris to anyone
