This centre is a haven for Cheetah's, South Africa's fastest mammal. Get up close to these incredible animals and learn more about them by observing their behaviours and listening to your guide. Afterwards, you will be taken on an open-vehicle guided game drive where you will see not only cheetahs, but wild dogs, vultures, and various other animals as well. - lisahZ5790OB0 contributionsBest experience everThis place is amazing. I booked through Viator and had a driver pick me up in Joburg and dine me 1 1/2 hours there. He waited for me and brought me back. Dint forget to tip them 10% That's a long drive. Go early enough su you can feed the monkeys. On a weekday start the elephants at 10 and you'll be able to feed the monkeys!!! They are trashed very well here. Loved every second and worth every penny!Written November 29, 2024

He was able to give us a lot of information on site during the drive to and from Pilanesberg National park. A great companion for the day. The excursion was everything we hoped for and a lot more. My wife and I had an amazing time from start to finish. We managed to see 3 of the big five. Our guide Thabo was super experience, funny and friendly, with a lot of knowledge about the animals and the savannah. Would 100% use again and definitely recommend!Written November 3, 2024

- nicoleeU353SW0 contributionsBeautiful Closed Car ExperienceIf you are a slightly nervous tourist but you want to have a safari experience while visiting Joberg - look no further! My husband and I had the best experience traveling from the Sandton area to Pilanesberg. We chose the closed car option because we were nervous about mishaps with the animals and mosquitos, and it ended up being the right choice for us. Jason was the nicest, most patient, and accommodating guide that you could ever ask for. He was knowledgeable and very respectful of the animals and the history of the city. The car was in excellent condition, he turned on the AC when we requested it, and he pointed out places of interest and shared fun facts every step of the way. The Pilanesberg park is gorgeous and has tons of variety. We saw: Hippo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Kudu, Elephants, Fish eagle, Turtles, Crocodile, giraffe, and white rhino!!! You will regret it if you don’t go!Written September 14, 2024
- mattiem9830 contributionsExcellent Experience with JasonHaving Jason as our guide was great! Super knowledgeable, personable, and safe. Was always willing to lend a helping hand. Would definitely book with Jason again!Written September 12, 2024
- I5279DEtravish0 contributionsElephant sanctuaryJason was a great guide and driver. It was the perfect amount of interaction and casual conversation. The sanctuary was a good time, especially the elephants. We did some research to make sure that the sanctuary was legit. It is! The guides and handlers really seem to care for the elephants. Overall great experience. The moneys were fun, but go for the elephant interaction!Written August 30, 2024

The Cheetah center was designed to rescue and house cheetahs who had no place to go and caused problems where they were. It has clearly grown over the years but its main purpose is education based on seeing these lovely animals and learning their stories. In addition to a goodly number of cheetahs the center has other interesting and endangered species. Included are a number of painted dogs, hyenas, a number of breeding groups of endangered vultures, and many others. They had a honey badger, they had a caracal, and they had the only nyalas I had ever seen. This is a place definitely worth a morning or afternoon.

Ann Van Dyk Cheetah Centre.
Great afternoon here. We went on the safari truck around the compound to see various animals including meerkats, wild dogs, lynx as well as the expected cheetahs. First we had a short movie (5/10mins) on the background of Ann Van Dyk’s family history in relation to the Cheetah Park and then were taken around. The information given by the guide was interesting and informative. Took about 1.5hrs this will vary as you are given chance to ask questions at each compound. Definitely take water and even maybe snacks, you can buy them there. Disappointed that the cafe wasn’t open as we were very early. You may need someone to help you get on and off the bus if you have mobility problems as the step up and down is very high. Quite hard to find. The place that we stopped at to ask for directions said that a lot of people come to them for directions for this attraction.

This is an amazing way to see animals (not just cheetahs) up close and personal. The guide provides a lot of information. The animals are beautiful and well cared for, and the center is a cause worth supporting.

Wonderful opportunity to see cheetahs and wild dogs close up. They breed these endangered animals to try to increase the population at African parks and reserves, while trying to provide a safe place where the cheetahs don't conflict with local farmers. Jason made our last day in South Africa a real treat.

Thank you for your kind review! I'm thrilled to hear that you had a wonderful opportunity to see cheetahs and wild dogs up close. It's great to know that you appreciated the efforts being made to breed these endangered species and provide them with a safe environment. I'm glad I could help make your last day in South Africa a memorable one. Thank you for sharing your experience, and I hope to welcome you back for more adventures in the future! Safe travels!

Now on my sixth working trip to Pretoria, each time I am here I have to visit this centre, it is truly amazing. The Cheetahs are wonderful animals, the setting great and the staff very knowledgeable and able to pass on their knowledge. The early morning chase the lure, meet a Cheetah close up and the tour of the enclosures all add up to the best attraction I have seen. I can not recommend it highly enough! Love the place.

can we schedule an afternoon trip as we arrive early in the morning.

I believe they do the tour in the afternoons as well, however, they only run the Cheetahs early in the mornings, not in the afternoons. I have always gone early and it is well worth the effort.

What is the cheetah run. I went to the Cheetah Center in South Africa a few years ago and was fortunate to go in their cage with the handler and got to pet them.
Written September 8, 2018
That would be the Ambassadors, they do still bring the Cheetah into the room but on the last visit there in August they no longer let you up individually to stroke them. Byron was the first I had the encounter with in 2013, but he is no longer alive, also met Chaka in 2016, he was still at the centre but not part of the presentation. The Cheetah run consisted on this visit of two Cheetahs chasing the lure, on previous visits there were three or four, as this is a centre which has a breeding programme and also raises orphans for release back into the wild, I think they are attempting to cut back on the close contact whilst trying to show you their facilities and efforts to preserve these magnificent creatures.
