Incredible, once in a lifetime experience
An utterly amazing experience. Simon ( organiser and guide) was fantastic. For a long while it felt like we weren’t going to find the whales, but he persevered and found a beautiful calf and her mother. His patience, skill and knowledge gifted us an incredible experience. We spent at least 30 minutes swimming with the calf, who seemed to love playing with humans. Absolutely recommend this trip with this company

        Amazing excursion
Simone was an amazing captain and tour guide on this excursion! We searched for a few hours and he would not give up in finding them. 2.5 hrs in we found a mom and calf. We were able to get in the water with them and experience the most incredible view of them swimming to the surface and back down. Thank you for making this trip amazing!

Seek your whale tour elsewhere, this is pretty bad.
This is a tough one to write, I don’t like posting a bad review especially with someone who owns a small business. To start, once we were picked up from the resorts we had a 25 min out of the way boat trip to fill up the gas tank, it seems this could have been done earlier as to not waste the tour time and searched longer for whales. Other reviews posted some comments on how Simon isn’t friendly and rough with his words, it is exactly the experience our group felt as well. I wouldn’t have posted a 1 star just because we didn’t see any whales, we all knew that was a risk and it could happen. I think when Simon realized we weren’t going to see whales he stopped at a spot to snorkel for a few minutes. I watched Simon hand out fins to the guest and he literally slapped a woman’s hand out of the way when she thought he was handing the fins to her but he was giving them to another gentlemen, the poor woman looked shocked, I was in shock. When folks started to board the boat after the short snorkeling event Simon yelled at a different woman in our group that she wasn’t climbing the ladder correctly! That woman swam back and just couldn’t believe what happened. Additionally after driving for the last 20 min before entering the lagoon, Simon never said a word about not seeing any whales or that we were ending the tour without any whales, when we arrived at the first resort to drop people off we asked, “so no whales today Simon?” His harsh response, “WELL, Not this morning anyways!” Lastly, again just because we didn’t see any whales was not the problem, obviously a disappointment but it really was the entire experience that was so poor, I don’t think deep down Simon was trying to be rude/mean but I do think his language barrier might contribute to his rudeness and frankly inappropriate behavior. Simons partner (name never shared) was much friendlier and did appear at times to try and be the friendlier one. I would HIGHLY encourage you find another place to book with, this was the worst tour experience I have ever had.

        Most Memorable Excursion Ever!
This was a once in a lifetime experience for my wife and I. We had been whale watching in Monterey, California, earlier this year, but she really wanted to do this for her birthday. To swim in the ocean with a momma whale and her baby was simply AMAZING! It took some time to find them, but when Simon did, it was so awesome. Highly recommend for your visit to Bora Bora!

Don’t hesitate! Book now! Super fun, and knowledgeable. Bucket list - check.
I’m still in awe with the feelings and emotions of swimming with these beautiful whales. My husband and I are so glad we did this excursion. Simon and Delphine looked after us today and was so informative and knowledgeable. We saw some beautiful whales and their calf. Usually on holiday we tend to relax and chill.. however we are both so happy we did this tour. We got maybe 10m from the whales. I’m a strong swimmer, and recommend wearing a life jacket (which they provide - as well as snorkels and flippers) It’s just made it a lot more chilled as you may need to swim 50-100m to the whales. 10/10 - such a beautiful experience. One of my top 3 moments (including getting married) Thank you Simon and Delphine, you really made it an amazing experience

        Do it!
This is not something everyone gets to do. Sign up and check it off your bucket list! Just wow. Father and son duo led us out to see multiple whales including a mom, baby, and escort- we saw whales breaching, listened to them rest and sing, and soaked in the precious experience. I highly recommend.

        A must do!
What a great time! Our guide, Simon, and his captain, Maui, were like the whale whisperers. Sometimes the whales are moving, but we were able to find them and had a great overall experience. Bonus, dolphins jumping and swimming in front of our boat and a large cargo ship.

Excellent trip outside the Bora Bora lagoon.
We had a great day out. We saw at least five whales and we got some lovely photos. The team took excellent care of us and were really good fun to be with. Commentary was given in both English and French.

Memories for life thanks to Simon
A real man with a big heart: Simon is putting is love for the ocean above anything else. His knowledge of marine life is extremely impressive and contagious to listen to. I went a few times on a whales tour with him, and every time I saw in him the same passion, the same excitement the moment when we finally found the whales. He is putting is heart and life in his activity, and never hesitate to go the extra mile to satisfy his customers, for example by spending longer time on the water in case of a chance of seeing whales. His main boat is top-notch (big, spacious, comfortable) compared to the other few companies I have seen on Bora Bora waters doing similar activities. Also, he has an hydrophone, a MUST (!) equipment for any company pretending to do whales watching tours. And, what a luxury and real pleasure to be alone (or max 2-3 boats) on the water to observe this unique animal (I have also done whales watching in Moorea and it is not at all the same). I will be leaving Bora Bora in the coming days, and these whales encounters will remain one of the biggest highlights of my French Polynesia adventure, and beyond… A big thank you Simon, your passion, directness and professionalism have been touching. You will be recommended far beyond this review. All the best and hope to see you soon !

One of the most memorable excursions ever! Simon is amazing at what he does. We found a whale within the first 15 mins. And he was able to get us right next to it - within 10 feet! It was incredible!!! Don’t miss this trip!!

We booked a group snorkeling tour with Simon at the beginning of January (2020), and it was by far our favorite part of our trip to Bora Bora.

Lucky for us, my husband and I were the only ones on the tour (slow season) and had the opportunity to spend the morning at several different snorkeling spots around the island.

One of the highlights was swimming with the manta rays as they performed a mating dance. Simon was thrilled, which led us to believe this type of encounter was relatively rare. We also spent some time following pilot whales, and jumped at the opportunity to hop in and snorkel above them for a short burst of time.

Simon is knowledgeable and passionate about the waters surrounding Bora Bora, we thoroughly enjoyed learning from him. He continuously caught our attention throughout our snorkels to show us unique organisms, helped tow me along when my short legs couldn’t keep up, and gave us insight into the incredible bond residents have formed across Bora Bora (he waved at every passing boat, and seemed to know quite a few of the other boat operators across the island).

As a marine scientist, and residents of Monterey, CA - my husband and I have indescribable respect for the sea and it’s inhabitants. We specifically booked through Simon because of his apparent respect for the unique ecosystems of the islands, we did not want to go on a tour that chummed the water for shark sightings. Simon’s nature is respectful, welcoming, and informative.

We promised to leave a review for him once we returned home, but unknowingly returned to a completely different reality (COVID-19) that flipped our world upside down. Throughout the past year, I’ve caught myself daydreaming of our time with Simon and truly grateful for the opportunity to spend the day with him (he easily could’ve cancelled our tour once he realized others did not sign up, but instead he took a loss for the day and still took us out on a private tour). Although our review is delayed, our time spent with Simon has left a lasting impact.

We look forward to returning to Bora Bora and booking another tour with Simon in the future. Please consider to do the same if you find yourself in paradise, he is the best out there.

Thank you very much Alyssa for your comment, I remember very well this morning spent in your company like all the others but it was special because we had the chance to observe these pilot whales which were enormous in addition to all the rest that the lagoon can offer us. Bora Bora. What pride for me to have been able to make you discover our beautiful lagoon has scientists who are of the profession and to have been able to make them dream, I hope you will have the opportunity to come back to be able to observe the humpback whales. And thank you again for putting this beautiful comment in the middle of the Covid period, I myself am responding late for full confinement which is scheduled until September 6, 2021. Take care and see you Simon

We did the eco snorkeling tour with my wife, and it was a really great experience. Simon is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he does (ask him about the killer whales or the songs of the whale).
He brought us to a cleaning station of manta rays, where we had the chance to observe one while snorkeling. After that, we went snorkeling to a coral garden. It was such a beautiful place, we could have stayed there all day with my wife.
My wife was 6 month pregnant at the time of the tour, but Simon's boat was comfortable enough so that it was not a problem.

Thanks a lot for that great morning.
We will come again, this time during the whale season !

Thank you Thomas for your comment, and there are subjects on which you should not get started and the orcas are part of it because this year and for the first time in 16 years on Bora Bora we have been able to observe 3 times these magnificent marine mammals ... exceptional moments forever engraved in our memories! It is always with pleasure that I tell and share these exceptional meetings. I hope you will have the opportunity to come back and who knows ... Simon

Simon provided us with a lifetime memory. He was on time (hard to do in Bora Bora), had great snorkel
gear and snacks, and worked very hard to show us everything possible. He took us to places other boats couldn’t even get to. Found a great spot for us to enjoy the lunch we had packed, helped us find beautiful shells. Did a GREAT job dropping us off to snorkel and drift, then pick us up. We’ve been to Bora Bora 6 times, and never had an easier or more enjoyable time snorkeling. We highly recommend Simon and his day in Paradise!

Thank you Margie and Chris for your comments and for having trusted me to make you discover the lagoon of Bora Bora that you all already know. Now will have to return to the whale season to allow Danny to realize his dream, currently there are orcas and whale sharks that are found around Bora. Enjoy your cruise. Simon

I just got back from the 4-hour Group Snorkelling Tour, Terrific! Met two very nice couples, one from France and the other from Slovenia. Guide picked me up at Maitai hotel and dropped me off on the beach of our AirB&B bungalow.
My wife and I were going to rent a boat, but she gets motion sick so she sent me off on my own. It was a good call to go on this tour instead, as you can read below….
As a side note, as a certified SCUBA diver I’m finding more and more that snorkelling is almost as good in many cases.

Given the existing conditions, the guide described which spots would be best and of course he was correct.
The Eagle Rays at our first spot were sparse and darting around a lot. We skipped this dip as it likely would not have been worth the time.
At the next dip we saw 4 large Manta Rays feeding, and one typical male trying to mate :). But they must have been married because he was unsuccessful.
Our guide then gave us a choice for the next location, a steep drop-off or Blacktip Sharks; the Sharks were amazing :)
Next dip was near the Underwater Scooter area and here there were tonnes of colourful fish and very cool coral formations.
Overall, fabulous dips and circumnavigation of the island!

Given the risk of people backing out at the last second, I think it is reasonable for them to expect payment in advance. We had not used “Paybox” before but an on-line search confirmed that it was safe.

Excellent tour, thanks very much to all the staff.

Thank you very much Steve for your comment. The participants all came from different backgrounds but that does not prevent us from having a great morning, quite the contrary when we want to share our experiences it is very pleasant. This week the weather is excellent no rain no wind (all of which I love), the small swell does not clean the whole lagoon but the different sites had good visibility especially the one outside; I left you the choice of going to see the magnificent drop-offs which are outside the lagoon and far from the pass or stopping at the shark site (which I do not normally offer but there was no other service providers); you preferred sharks and I knew you could only love ;) Regarding last minute reservations it is possible in low season but you should know that it takes a minimum of participants to make the excursion in high season it is more difficult but it is possible that there remains a place or two free; it will depend on the days. Thank you for your good mood and sharing your videos with the other participants. Good luck to you both and enjoy Polynesia. Simon

WOW, one of the best snorkeling trips we've EVER experienced! Simon took us to some incredible snorkeling locations that were not where every tourist was going. He was amazingly knowledgable about the Ocean and the location. He genuinely has a passion for this work and was authentically concerned with us having a great time! We saw Manta Rays, Dolphins, a variety of fish and tons of black tip sharks. Not to mention the stunning coral reefs. We will definitely book again. Thank you Simon and Tohora Bora Bora for the great day!

Thank you a lot for your comment Nicole , When the weather allows it I love to make discover the external drop offs of Bora Bora where no one goes because it is far from the pass but when the Ocean is a lake it is really a place to be discovered and which knows if on the way we can have nice surprises. I hope the weather will return to good for the next excursion. Simon

Outstanding service and excursion. Simon is friendly, outgoing and a pleasure to be around. It was 3 solo travelers on this lagoon snorkeling trip and we had the time of our lives. Simon is safe and mindful of passengers and the Reef. He knows where to go and is knowledgeable. He shares history and facts about the locations. His boat is comfortable and equipped with what you need. The seats have enclosed storage areas to keep your belongings secure. He had water, juice and cookies. Sightings in the wild are never guaranteed so go with an expectation to relax and enjoy the surprises. Keep your fins and snorkel gear ready. You never know what may be spotted for a quick dip in the waters. Be mindful of too much noise and relax in the water. We saw I think 5 or 6 manta rays, largest 4m and about 12 black tip sharks. I highly recommend this trip. If I was here another day I would book it again. Today was my last full day in Bora Bora. We also had a reef tour in shallow and deep waters. It was amazing. Simon is very helpful and a humorous man. His excitement in the water is contagious. The sound of joy he makes in the water when he spots something is fantastic. Its always great to meet someone who loves their job and people. Thank you Simon for a wonderful excursion.

Thank you Kira for your comment, You came to the meeting point by taxi and you understood that I could not go around the lagoon for one person. It was a real pleasure to have you on board, you were not comfortable in the water but it is absolutely not a problem you had "your best friend"; the buoy crowns that you did not leave the whole excursion except at the coral garden the site where we swam the most but in shallow water but still you did it !! Yes, I'm passionate about what I do and when I see shows like the ones we had the chance to observe, I'm still as enthusiastic as if it were the first time! If I have the chance to come to Las Vegas I will contact you so that you can show me this place, I promise and thank you for the invitation. Simon

My 8 year old daughter and I had a wonderful morning with Simon on the lagoon snorkeling tour. We stopped at two sites looking for manta rays - at the first we saw them but it was very deep and visibility was poor. We went to another site and Simon cruised slowly, looking from the boat while we waited with our gear on. When he found one we jumped in and swam with a manta ray just below us, maybe 6 feet. We then went to a shallow coral garden where Simon shared his extensive knowledge of the local environment. We were the only boat at this site, and only 4 guests on our tour. On our way back we encountered a huge group of spinner dolphins and had a wonderful time with them while they played with the boat.

We did another lagoon tour earlier in the week with a different company. My daughter wanted to go again but only for 1/2 day so we chose this tour. It was nice to visit different sites and I enjoyed learning from Simon about the different corals, the currents, and local ecology. I also really appreciated the very small group. Thank you for a wonderful excursion!

Thank you Heather for your comment, I try to stand out from other companies as much as possible by giving information on marine life but not only, I try to make my customers aware of the protection of the environment, many of whom are well aware of it but do not necessarily know how. this marine life works and it's always good to know it a little more to protect it while being able to observe it in its natural environment. I try my best to make small groups, it's more intimate but also we can more easily share our experiences with everyone; beginners as well as experienced. It takes a minimum of 4 people to do the excursion so if you are 4 we leave for a 1/2 day. I hope you had a good Christmas on Bora and wish you the best for 2023 with many beautiful trips but above all good health. Simon

Thank you Simon and Ben for this absolutely amazing tour. I could tell that you both are passionate about nature and that it’s important for you to treat it with respect. We had the luck to have encountered Manta rays and sharks and swim in a most beautiful coral garden. Ben was leading the group in the water and gave valuable explanations on the route and sea life. As I was traveling by myself on the tour, I felt very safe. The boat was not crowded and all of us had enough space for the bags as well. Thank you for everything, I will keep this snorkeling trip forever in my mind and hopefully return soon!

Thank you Monica for your comment, As you have seen Ben who is one of the guides I work with can replace me when I cannot be on the boat, I am completely confident in the service he will provide to my clients because I only work with passionate and professional guides who have the pleasure of helping you discover our magnificent lagoon but must always remember that we work in a natural environment and that it is Nature who decides to offer us what it has and not the other way around but we both know that you are well aware of this and have had great discussions on this subject and I thank you for that! I'm happy that your last excursion on 10 weeks in Polynesia was your best as Bora is not that bad; but that we know! Thank you again and I hope you will have the opportunity to come back, but this time during whale season. Welcome back to Switzerland where I hope the temperatures will not be too high. Simon

We booked this tour at the last minute, as we didn’t get our fill after just one snorkel tour on Bora Bora’s lagoon (and we were crossing our fingers to perhaps be lucky enough to see a Manta Ray).

The weather in Bora Bora was quite windy during our trip, so this increased the turbidity of the water while we were there.

Nevertheless, Simon was able to successfully guide us to see a large group of eagle rays and even a Manta Ray. The experience was magical.

Simon is very knowledgeable about the area and safety guidelines regarding how to approach sea life in a respectful way (no free diving, avoiding splashing, etc.). He is also very cognizant of different swimming ability levels and informs the group about the different conditions at each spot.

We highly recommend this tour and wouldn’t hesitate to book with Simon again!

Thank you for your comment, This month of May is windy, it happens sometimes, which makes some areas of the lagoon not very passable or otherwise with less visibility but whatever happens it is possible to choose more protected sites with better visibility and sometimes it is more complicated but it is not us who decide and must deal with it. I am glad that you enjoyed your excursion and the work provided, when you like to share it is always simpler ;) Simon

Simon runs an amazing and safe tour. He is funny and very informative and knowledgeable about the marine animals living in the waters around Bora Bora. He was very helpful with beginner snorkelers, like myself. By guiding me through the water, he made sure my experience of seeing the manta rays and other fish was just as exciting and wonderful as an expert snorkeler. Thank you Simon!! I will always remember your kindness.

Thankyou very much for your comment, I like to share my passion for the marine environment and whether you are a beginner or an experienced swimmer there is no danger and if I have to help you I do it with pleasure because not everyone is comfortable with the marine environment. I'm glad you were able to enjoy the excursion and so on without being a good swimmer because with the buoy and the equipment it becomes easier for everyone. Simon
