- nataliekQ6930RF0 contributionsUnforgettable whale encounter and great crew!!We had a wonderful morning on the water! The guides Doc and Malakai were absolutely amazing. Very knowledgable and experienced with what to look for with whale signs and once we spotted them, they were patient and wise with watching their behavior first, and respect for the animals, before getting us in the water. Observing their behavior was super important in order to predict the whales next move and I believe it’s because of our guide’s knowledge that allowed us to get up close to the whales with a once in a lifetime experience. We had such a beautiful moment. We also forgot rain coats and during the rainy ride out there, they provided us with spare raincoats which was a relief. Obviously there’s some luck involved in seeing whales based on their movement and weather but today was epic on this tour.Written September 25, 2024
- 104denas0 contributionsThankful for this experienceIt’s been some years since we’ve been diving, so we decided on this introductory course. Very glad that we did. Before diving, the dive master gave us good instructions and diving reminders. We had one tank, 30 minutes, and many fish. If you’ve never gone diving before, it’s a different experience than snorkeling.Written August 8, 2024
- nazwa_wlasna0 contributionsWhale searching NOT wachting.By booking this activity, I was expecting to see a whale or whales. Sadly, it wasn't. It was a whale searching. Apparently, there was ONLY ONE whale with a baby in an area of Bora Bora. Our guide was doing what he could to find it, but he didn't manage. He did provide interesting knowledge about this beautiful mammals, but without seeing one, this whole trip felt like a scam. I think it should be clearly written in the description of this activity that there is a chance of NOT finding whale(s). Also, the fact that all the comments below are clearly positive, someone who is choosing to pay for it should get enough information about pros en cons of it. I also have a remark about the boat. Because this experience takes over 3 hours, and you still stay around the atoll, you have to use a small boat, where is no chance to use a restroom. It means that you have to choose between taking a sip of water or having a full bladder. I must admit that it wasn't a pleasant experience. Sure, you could jump into the water and pee in front of everybody in the boat. But again, you have to feel comfortable to do so. That's why my review score is 2 out of 5. Mostly due to commitment and passion with what our guide made this tour.Written October 10, 2022
- Pradera M0 contributionsThe best whale watching experience with a marine biologistAmazing boat trip to see whales outside the reef of Bora Bora. The boat is well equipped, clean and comfortable (snorkeling gear, towels and refreshing included). Our guide/marine biologist Virginie was really friendly and explained us about whale lifestyle and how to respect them while we were observing them. Thanks to Virginie and our captain Chris. I recommend !Written October 15, 2021
- vorsoni0 contributionsFantastic experience, knowledgable whale "watcher", great pilotIf you go to Bora and it is whale season you have to do this! And choose these guys at Bora Bora Whale Watching as they do an amazing job. Of course there is never a guarantee when you go whale watching but we were lucky to see them on our first try though we did not jump into the water because of their rapid swim (too fast for us!) but on the second try yeahhhhhhhhh we go to swim with these big guys! Virginie, our whale watching guide, was super knowledgable about whale behaviors and general info. She went beyond what was expected of her to find whales, wether moms and their babies or "dating" couples. She used an underwater mic to spot singing males and truly was almost happier than us when we go to see the whales! Robert, the pilot, did a fantastic job at surfing the waves to give us a feeling of a flat surface when it was not. If you are thirsty or hungry fear not as those guys have thought about it all :)Written October 17, 2019
- kahay0060 contributionsBest experience of my life!!Where do I start!. We actually booked last minute through the hotel and could not have been happier with this group. Virginie was amazing and had so much knowledge of the whales. We actually where the only 2 on the afternoon tour. We were about an hour in and she located a male whale singing. We got in the water and swam for about an hour watching the whale breach every 20 minutes. I cannot begin to tell you how great Virginie is. We had such good conversation about the whales on the way back to the hotel. She really tried hard to locate a whale/whales, so that she could make your experience memorable. We know it is never guaranteed but it was well worth it for us. We had the time of our lives. The waves were strong but we are great swimmers and it could not have been better for us. Virginie and Robert always tried hard to make our trip comfortable and provided everything we needed. This is the best company to experience this tour with. They are very kind and patient with everyone. Virginie's enthusiasm about the whales was infectious. You will not go wrong by booking with Bora Bora Whale Watching... This is the best tour group ever!!!! She speaks french and pretty good English and tries hard to accomodate every one. I cannot express enough about this group. AMAZING!!Written October 1, 2019
- lindasW9471XP0 contributionsEpic!!My husband and I booked this last minute after hearing other guests at our resort describe their experience on this tour. It turned out to be the most amazing thing ever! Our guide was very knowledgable and we learned so much about these beautiful creatures. The boat was comfortable and it was especially nice having a cover for shade. The two-person team (a guide and boat driver) took great care to find the whales and instruct us how to swim with them respectfully when we slipped into the water. We were thrilled when a calf swam directly below us, then circled back with his mom underneath. It was an epic experience and even our guide was excited about seeing the baby so close. Highly, HIGHLY recommend this tour with Aquabike Adventure.Written September 30, 2019
- Ernst_Piercy0 contributionsLoved itSlow moving, easy to handle, fun experience. There is a "feed bag" on the front to attract the fish just inches from your fact. Your hair will not even get wet. We enjoyed feeding the fish using a handful of bait tha they provided.Written September 26, 2019
- cmk15230 contributionsAwesomeWe were told we may be able to see whales and we might be able to snorkel next to them. After about an hour we saw whales and near the end of the trip we were close enough to actually get in the water and snorkel next to them! Crazy. They can’t promise this but we succeeded the first time. Great boat and whale watching team too. Speaking French helps!Written September 19, 2019

She made us feel comfortable, she gave explanations about whales life and calf. she was fabulous, patient and she told us everything we had to know to respect and enjoy what we were here for. we were lucky to see 5 whales and to swim with 2 of them. we saw 5 jumps of calf ! just never forget this moment. the boat is brand new , all equipped. we had all the materials needed for snorkeling, towels, softs and sweets to eat on board. just one word : GO AND SEE THE WHALES WITH REMY ! he and his team are great. he is starting his business, he deserves to be recognize by guests. My wife is not a strong swimmer, so we reserved an Aquabike. It was a great decision. We had done shark and ray snorkeling the day before which worked fine when it was shallow. But the Aquabike allowed her to truly feel what diving or snorkeling down amongst the coral heads was like. The guys did a great job making everyone comfortable and then put on a great show of feeding fish, letting you feed them, finding unique sights (pillow stars, giant clams, anemones) and then debriefing on what you saw. Plus they take photos and videos for you, so no need to bring an underwater camera. Its not cheap but it is a unique experience we felt was worth it!

We did the underwater scooter last week - we got lucky as there weren't any others signed up at the same time so we ended up getting a private tour, which made it even better! Remy picked us up and dropped us off to/from our hotel and put us at ease with the process while taking pictures and photos (which you can optionally buy later) and Ben dove with us. They did a great job - we got to feed the fish and they swim right into the lower section of the scooter with you. This was a novelty experience to go in what basically equates to your own mini-submarine. We've never done anything like it and we ended up loving it. Slightly scary for the first 20 seconds until you are underwater but it felt completely safe and such a great way to see some of the wildlife and coral structures underwater. We will probably never forget going in the underwater scooter!

Remi and Seb were great. The tour was hands on and informative. The scooters are easy to operate. The scooter was also a way to ease my wife (long time snorkeling fan) into life under the surface. Her anxieties shed away as soon as we set our ear pressures. I highly recommend this as a good beginner friendly excursion.

We were shocked at seeing all these beautiful multicoloured tropical fish coming right towards us barely the scooters submerged, accustomed to being fed with bread, and the guide in scuba gear feeding them with dry bread stored in small nets at the front of the scooters.
It seems that Bora Ocean Adventure is not aware that the digestive system of fish is not designed to digest bread despite the fact they pretend to be and act as naturalists after the dive, explaining to the guests the fish and marine life habits spotting the different species on a slate, after feeding the fish with bread and giving each participant some bread in the hand so that everyone can feed the fish like in a zoo or better said an aquarium.
We were told that feeding was prohibited in French Polynesia and punishable by a fine. it seems that Bora ocean adventure absolutely don’t care and that their profits are much more important than the life of fish and Polynesian fragile ecosystems. Avoid that type of silly and expensive excursions which in no way respect fragile marine life. It’s exorbitant for half an hour spent in 3m of water witnessing this sad and pathetic spectacle.

Ia Ora Na,
We thank you for taking the time to leave us a comment.
We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations.
Polynesia is renowned for its exceptional marine ecosystems and its unique biodiversity and it is regrettable that you did not feel this feeling.
We understand the importance of respecting and preserving this delicate environment that we encounter every day and that we take pleasure in introducing to our customers.
We ensure that all our activities comply with strict environmental standards so as not to disrupt the ecosystem.
We are aware that opinions on feeding are divided and take into account all comments on the subject.
We hope that your stay in Bora Bora nevertheless went well and that you were able to enjoy our beautiful island.

This was such an amazing activity that is truly a once in a lifetime experience for me and my husband. Once you are underwater it's beyond peaceful & so fun to see fish swimming all around you. The two instructors were unbelievably kind & knowledgeable. I would highly highly recommend this activity to anyone traveling to Bora Bora!

The only complaint I have is I thought we would go to an area where the fish would be big. It was an area people were snorkeling at. The crew was great and accommodating but I wish we went to a different area where we could see larger fish. The experience was nice but I would not recommend to my friends and would not go again.

Ia Ora Na,
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry your expectations were not met. Larger fish can mostly be seen outside the reef, but this area is much too agitated for the underwater scooters which are held to the surface by a buoy. Our team does its best to make you discover the marine life of the lagoon, which indeed includes smaller fish and a variety of other species. We hope you enjoyed the tour anyways and we wish you all the best!

We were lucky enough to be the only pair with our scuba diver. The scooter was a perfect way to see and handle sea creatures; feed the fish and chat while we enjoyed it all. A highlight for sure!

My husband and I loved this experience! Our guides were extremely kind and informative. We had the opportunity to feed the fish right out of our hands. We were also able to hold a sea cucumber. I read many reviews before booking this excursion and many guest commented on the convenience of the USB flash drive of pictures and videos taken by the guides that they were able to purchase after the experience. Because of this, we did not bring our camera. On the day of our excursion, we were advised that the tide was too rough for our guide to take photos or videos so we were unable to capture any photos of our experience. This was definitely a bummer. I would encourage anyone taking this excursion to bring their own camera so they can capture this unique and beautiful experience on camera!

What a surprising and amazing adventure! 2 couples (their max per trip) picked up at the dock by the host, an experienced diver who knew well the Aquabike (aka Scooter) process to deliver us to a small, floating barge that housed the 2 aquabikes, with another experienced host and diver.
It's hard to explain these contraptions but suffice to say, each couple gets on their seats, the passenger behind the 'driver', with your upper bodies in a plastic 'bubble'; and there's a considerable air pump that brings air above your shoulders so you can submerse below the top of the sea, with your heads from mid chest height in comfortable air, and your lower bodies, while sitting on this contraption are submerged.
One of the divers is by your side throughout and you're only submerged by about 3 meters max. The divers attract beautiful small fish with food around your capsule so you'll see and feel these lovely fish swim around your knees; like soft feathers touching your skin and an amazingly touching experience. Our diver handed me, while underwater, a small bag of food so I could hold it out and feed the fish!
The divers will also find coral species that they can take to you under water to see and feel and return safely to their nests. I don't remember laughing so much in joy!

Two questions:
o I am 6'3" with long legs and weigh about 190 lbs. Will I fit comfortably?
o My wife wears a monitor on her upper arm. Does water reach above the waist and possibly submerge her monitor?
Thank you

Can my 15 year old drive her own scooter? Or do you recommend her ride with an adult?
Written April 21, 2019
Also, the scooter is hard to turn ( which is done occasionally). I recommend her not to film under water at the time or take her own selfy while driving it. There would be proper spots for it. It’s manageable any way and host guys would help her if needed. Recommend her own scooter

Hi. Sorry I only saw this question. But to answer it, the whole experience would take about half to an hour, including the transport from land to the diving site. It’s a beautiful experience. Tip: check weather update before booking as it won’t be nice down there when it’s cloudy.
