About the operator

- DUNCANSAberdeen0 contributionsHalf Day Trip - Big DisappointmentVery disappointed with this tour booked through Viator - having used them many times in the past all over the world with great success this trip left a lot to be desired due to the tour guide. We were so lucky to have a lovely Belgian lady on board to translate as tour guide spoke mostly in French even though he was aware we were English speaking only. The itinerary that was advertised was not followed and we heard more about the closed hotels since covid than the history of the island. Visiting the plantation turned out to be another disaster never got any fresh fruit or saw a tie dye demonstration was a visit to a relative of tour guide stall by the side of the road. The highlight for us was to be to visit the only cannon left on the island by the Americans but we could only see it in the distance from the road . We got more history the previous day from another activity tour guide. Be aware of Viator and do your homework - I got a very small refund after complaining from £118 paid but would rather of had the tour follow the itinerary that we were expecting . Viator will get no more business from me.Written September 20, 2024

- philipbI6061VG0 contributionsA fun day of fun, fish and food.If you want a great day of snorkeling and interacting with some local hosts this trip is for you. Three stops of between 30 minutes and an hour. You'll see black tip sharks, sting rays and many different types of fish. While doing this you will be guided by a friendly, funny and capable captain. Ours was young Manu. He knows his way around the lagoon and where to find fish. After about 3 hours we went to a remote area with time tables and a little store. Manu's family runs it. They are a great group of locals. They interact with their guests in a friendly and humorous manner while serving lunch. They play ukuleless and sing. They are real locals acting real friendly with all. It was a great time for me and my wife.Written July 21, 2024
- S5678SQfredk0 contributionsGreat snorkeling trip.We booked an independent tour with Bora Bora Explorer for a full day snorkeling and culture excursion. We went to 3 spots for snorkeling. First spot, we swam above a manta ray and observed it for quite some time. 2nd location we swam with sharks and stingrays. from the time we got in the water, there were many many black tip sharks that swam right up to and past us.(20 - 30). Had a great time. The 3rd location was a coral garden. We were able to swim with tons of colourful fishes and even saw up close a moray eel. The guides were great and the snorkeling was excellent. After the snorkeling, we went to a private motu where we had lunch over the water. Food was good (but after the luxury cruise, nothing is quite the same any more). We had a "polynesian tie die" lesson and some guests chose to make their own pareu. We chose not to make our own but we did buy one that was already made for a nominal fee of $10. All and all an excellent excursion. We checked later against what the cruise was offering and we found that we saved a bit of money by booking this excursion independently. Would definitely do it again.Written July 18, 2024

We took the full day lagoon tour with Manu and his cousin and they were the best! Super nice!!! After the three stops we went to his family on the moth and had the best experience, they cooked tasty food and did some activities. Do yourself a favor and book this tour with Bora Bora explorer Thanks so much ❤️🥰🙌🏽Written June 20, 2024
- mikepQ2052OT0 contributionsWorth it.Tour was a good value. We were the only two people that day. Another tour with another company on another island was cancelled when they only had two people, saying they needed at least four. So we were pleased they did not cancel this tour with only us two customers. Circled the island completely. Almost all of it was on paved roads, so this was not a rough-riding back-country 4x4 trip. Very friendly and nice guide, as seem to be all of the Polynesian people. Gave him a good tip, which he greatly appreciated especially since they are not making much money with only two customers in the truck. I say spread it around. It will only make them value tourists even more.Written June 12, 2024
- U2427VOmikew0 contributionsBest part of out stay in Bor Bora!Spectacular! The views were amazing, the information about the island from our guide was both interesting and extremely educational, but the best past of the entire day was our driver! His humor, his love of the island, and most of all his ukulele music during our stops made the day magical. HIGHLY recommend!Written May 6, 2024
- katelynr5200 contributionsAmazing experience, highly recommend! We did the full day ATV and Jetski excursion with lunch, and we cannot recommend this experience enough! Tahi was an incredible guide: warm, funny, and very knowledgeable. This was an excellent way to explore the whole island and see all of its beauty. We also learned so much about Bora Bora’s history and culture.Written May 5, 2024
- mauinoel0 contributionsFun way to explore Bora BoraWe were in French Polynesia for 3 days as part of a cruise that we took with my parents to celebrate their 55th anniversary. This was the only excursion where I opted for a group tour instead of a private one. When researching excursions, I kept seeing 4x4 trips, which seem to be essential to get to some of the iconic viewpoints. Even though the meeting point was pretty clear, somehow, we were some of the last folks to board. I will say that if you’re petite or have kids, you might want to make sure that the jeeps has seat belts. My tiny mom had a hard time because her feet didn’t touch the floor and the rusty seatbelt they tried to give her upon request didn’t do much. The “OMG road” lived up to its name, but it was fun. I had warned my parents that it was bumpy and that the ground was going to be uneven in some places but their eyes still got pretty big a few times and they chose not to walk up to the cannon even though they absolutely could’ve. Our guide Manu was charming and funny, and I liked how he and the other drivers/guides (we had 2 trucks traveling together) would play music at the different stops along the way. The final stop at the pareu “factory” was honestly the biggest disappointment. I normally roll my eyes at this kind of stop but I feel like they really missed out on some potential sales because of the setup. I could see that there was a demo area, but no one walked us through it, the dyed pareu looked more like tie-dye than anything uniquely Polynesian and a lot of the other trinkets just seemed cheap (and then at the same time overpriced). I did see one pareu that I liked but I had to find someone to tell me the price and it was more than the ones at the tender port (which is always overpriced). Maybe this should come earlier in the tour so it’s not so anticlimactic? NOTE FOR CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS: Most of the shops were not open when we first arrived and so we planned to walk along the street and go into some shops after our excursions. Even though we were in port until 8pm, many of the shops were already closed again when we got back around 4pm. This just seems like a missed opportunity in a place that I’m assuming relies on tourism. As someone who has worked in cruise ship ports, those were always our busiest days and we always made a point to be open when the ship was there. I’m not saying the people there need to accommodate the tourists, but I do want to warn the tourists that your shopping opportunities may be limited so don’t assume a shop will be open to check out on your way back to the ship.Written May 4, 2024

Both experiences were awesome! Tia (sorry if I misspelled the name) was a great boat captain for us and swimming with the sharks was incredible. The rays didn't hang out with us long which was a bummer, but the snorkeling was unbelievable as well.
Regarding the 4x4 tour, Alex was awesome - he was incredibly knowledgeable, accommodating, and just did a great job. We were joined by a couple who spoke French, and it was incredibly impressive how he seamlessly transitioned from French to perfect English and back again to explain everything he showed us.
I would highly recommend both experiences!

There were three stops for snorkeling - in the open ocean beyond the reef to see lemon sharks and a variety of smaller fish, then in shallow water to interact with rays while harmless black tipped reef sharks circled around, and the third in a “coral garden” with a huge number and variety of smaller tropical fish. This last stop was mind-blowing! After a nice lunch featuring grilled fish and chicken, the land portion began. We had a multihour tour with Alex, a native resident of Bora Bora who proudly explained the culture of his island while taking us to some locations with beautiful views of the lagoon and the small offshore islands. He was terrific and you should request him if you can. This tour is absolutely well worth the price!

Met our tour guide Chris about 8:50 AM. We did the water portion of the tour first with 2 additional guests. As we left the marina we saw a pod of dolphins. They were very playful. We spent the morning swimming with mana-rays, stingrays, black tip sharks, and snorkeling a coral reef with some colorful fish. Loved the sharks!! Around noon we ended on the outer reef for lunch. We enjoyed lunch on the inner side of the island where the waters were calm. Lunch was chicken, rice and fruit, which we had on a picnic table in the water. Very nice and delicious. We then walked to the ocean side where the waves where rough just to see the difference. Next, there was demonstration on how to open a coconut and we drank the coconut water. Our guide also showed us how to shave the coconut out of the shell. Around 1:30pm we traveled by boat across the lagoon to meet our second guide, Alex, who was doing the land portion of this tour. We traveled alone in a Jeep on this portion of the tour. (The other couple left half day). We talked about the history of the Island. Our first stop was the WWII cannons. Next we stopped at a local shop that made sarongs. They gave us a demonstration on how the sarongs where made and we did purchase one. They are beautiful. Next stop was an overlook were you can see both sides of the Island. The view is amazing and the blue waters gorgeous. We learned a lot about the history of the Island and the native traditions. We arrived back at the dock around 3:45pm to end the tour. Both Chris and Alex were very knowledgeable about their island and super friendly.
I highly recommend this tour. We thoroughly enjoyed both portions of the tour.

We really enjoyed this tour. The boat crew were exceptional & hospitable with the singing & playing the ukulele. Lunch was Polynesian & wonderful. View for lunch exceptional. We enjoyed swimming with stingrays & tiger sharks. Very enjoyable & would recommend.
We also took 4x4 Jeep tour & went up some steep mountains with beautiful views. We would only recommend for hardy folks. Guide was resourceful & very hospitable also.

This tour was a mixed bag. The snorkeling was amazing! We swam with sharks, rays, and at a coral reef with many colorful fish. Based on the snorkeling, it's a 5* tour. And our guide was good. Unfortunately, we were placed on a different tour than the one we booked. We followed the directions of the person standing on the pier with a sign with our name on it. We ended up on a larger group tour and did not get the 4x4 land tour that was supposed to be included. Instead, we got 2 hours at lunch on a beach where the water was too shallow to swim for as far as the eye could see. We did not get the small group tour that we wanted. To their credit, the company issued the partial refund that we requested with no problem. We did not ask for a full refund because we did at least get the snorkeling even if we missed out on the land tour. My advice is to make sure you are on the correct tour BEFORE it begins.

Lagoon tour was in the morning and after a little confusion as to where we had to be, we were met at the pier our tender boat from the cruise ship docked at (the ticket had another address on it). Chris and Tiny (not sure of the spelling) were our guides for the morning. We were taken to a spot that lots of tours went to and snorkelled with lots of sharks and stingrays, the locals attracted the rays to the surface where we were able to touch them. We then went to a coral reef where we swam with thousand of fish and saw a moray eel. On our way to lunch our boat driver saw a large group of leopard rays where he allowed up to snorkel with them while he followed in the boat. Our guides were fun and engaging. We were taken to an island where we had a beautiful lunch provided by the locals which we ate while sitting at tables and chairs in the water.
After lunch we were taken to our 4x4 island tour. Our guides were Manu and his cousin who were great with lots of knowledge. The cousin played the ukulele in the background throughout the tour which was a nice touch. We were taken up very steep and windy mountain roads to see some amazing and beautiful views of the bora bora islands. Manu kept us informed about the history, the traditional owners of the land and different sites of the island the whole way round.
We would definitely recommend this full day tour.

We had to cancel this tour after arriving at our resort because even though they say they will pick you up at your hotel, when our resort concierge called them to confirm they were informed that we would have to meet them on the main island for pickup. Our resort charged $60 USD for 2 people to shuttle to the main island and I didn’t want to pay that and hassle with a transfer when I had booked this under the assumption that it included pickup. I had even reached out to the tour operator prior to our trip to make sure they picked up at the Intercontinental Thalasso and their instructions were to just confirm details via our concierge once we arrived. Really disappointed that they aren’t more clear and where they are willing to pick up from.

Loved the experience provided by Manu, his bro and Tini. They were so friendly, full of fun and made the trip very memorable. I was a beginner to swimming and they took every precaution to ensure that I had a nice time. The views were simply spectacular.
The lunch prepped on an remote island gives you the artisanal experience you've been waiting for. From a custom plate fashioned from palm leaves to the cuisine which was slow cooked🤩🤩
For the 4WD, I was initially disappointed to see that it wasn't exactly an off road SUV that had been prepped but a pickup truck instead. But don't let that fool ya, you are taken thru challenging terrain of the wonderful place. The history and narration are simply a welcome addition and furthers your understanding about the place. Definitely a must try for anyone on the fence

My husband and I had a wonderful experience on this tour. We swam with sharks and sting rays and had lunch with fish swimming around our feet. Jovani was a lot of fun and made sure we had a good time. Santiago gave us an excellent tour of Bora Bora and shared many interesting things about the island. The picture he took of us at one of the view points was so beautiful. It really showed the magnificence of this island. Thank you for the great day!

We had such a wonderful experience with both, the Lagoon cruise and the 4WD tours. Alex was pretty knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. He showed us the mainland attractions and educated us in the history and traditions of Bora Bora. Our tour guides Torie and Joel showed us a great time in the boat and in the water, including snorkeling and getting up close and personal with the sharks and manta rays.
