- 1Founded by Transylvanian Saxons during the 12th century, Sighişoara is a fine example of a small, fortified medieval town which played an important strategic and commercial role on the fringes of central Europe for several centuries. Designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, this perfectly intact 16th-century gem with nine towers, cobbled streets, burgher houses and ornate churches rivals the historic streets of Old Prague or Vienna for atmospheric magic. It is also the, also known as Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler), ruler of the province of Walachia from 1456 to 1462. It was he who inspired Bram Stoker's fictional creation, Count Dracula.

- 814andreead0 contributionsa place of tranquility and beautiful local storiesOur guide Nico showed our group an amazing time by telling us the local stories of Sibiel authentic village. We strolled with her the Apples trail through the wonderful autumn orchards, picking from trees and eating apples and then taking a dive into the yellow oak forest, follow by a local lunch at a local host. Quite unforgettable! Thank you NicoWritten November 12, 2024
- pncha_0 contributionsA Historical Must Visit in TransylvaniaI’ve always wanted to visit Hunedoara Castle and Alba Iulia fortress and when I planned my trip to Romania I decided to book with Carpathian Travel because they offer an excellent itinerary for traveller to have plenty of time to explore each spots fully. There were 3 people on this tour so we’re very interactive. Our guide is Florin, who is very enthusiastic, positive, helpful and very knowledgable. He picked us up on time and started our journey right away. He guided us through every bit of details of the castle and the fortress. My experience is so immersive and I’m so glad that I went to these places with this tour because I wouldn’t be able to understand the history and surrounding stories so well if not for Florin. I would definitely recommend this tour for everyone who’re looking for hidden gem of historical trips, apart from main tourist attractions.Written July 30, 2024

- lucybI478TG0 contributionsThey hate Jews and IsraelisAntisemitic! They are not nice to tourists and do not smile. We were robbed by the taxi driver on our first day. People stared at my Star of David necklace and got upset for no reason. They refused to give me service because I am Jewish. I felt scared and intimidated. At a local pizza shop, the seller said that there was no pizza left for Jews and Israelis. We were shoked! Even in restaurants we were treated rudely and deliberately they added an unnecessary amount to the account. My spouse is disabled and at the airport they did not allow us the fast pass for people with disabilities, they told us "stand in line with your Jewish friends" I will never recommend and will not return. shame! I went to get my nails done, and she asked for 100 lei, the next day I sent my friend to the same Salon and she asked for 60 lei just because she did not wear the Star of David. The food is not tasty and lots of fat. Sad country with sad weird people.Written July 4, 2022
- 259darlingg0 contributionsexperience bucharests communist past with a local. as advertised - and more!this tour is exactely as advertised - and more. easy convenient pick up by our guide (serban riga, ask for him if you want to have a good time!). he drove us to the locations and shared a lot of historical facts and personal insights. the tour was very informative, we learned a lot of stuff you won't find in your typical guidebook. serban is a witty and entertaining guide. we can only recommend this tour!Written July 26, 2021
- denesadam100 contributionsExpensive and a scamThe Clay “Castle” in Fairy is actually a small place near a small river where the “castle” is literally a bigger house with a small tower. You cant even go in! Usually here is a very big crowd, most of the visitors are old grandmas and its NOT RELAXING AT ALL. The prices are high, and they give nothing for it! It doesn’t even worth to visit!Written June 6, 2021
- Vladimiramirela0 contributionsOne of the Most Beautiful Cities in RomaniaThe city locals pride themselves with something to do any given evening, regardless the season. There is always someone to meet or see, a good restaurant or terrace to stop by, or simply take a relaxing stroll. All roads go to... not to the proverbial Rome in this case, but to the heart of Sibiu's Old Town, the Big Square.Written November 18, 2019
- Suramy110 contributionsExcellent tourOur tour guide, Marius, picked us up right on time in an air conditioned van and was very accommodating from the beginning. One of the members of our group does photography as a hobby and Marius allowed him to take his time taking pictures and never made us feel rushed. Corvin Castle is grand! Definetly a must see if you wish to see what a medieval castle is all about. Alba Iulia is also worth the visit. You can even see traces of the Romans in the fortifications of the citadel. This trip was quite an enjoyable experience.Written August 24, 2019
- Daniel L0 contributionsOld town area and main square SibiuSpent about 2 hours walking around the main square and its environs on the way to the airport. - brisbanetrekker0 contributionsMedievil townSibiu is a lovely medievil town. The houses are very nice and look a little like Swiss/Austrian. Some of them are from the 15th/16th century. We went for a walk to the Old town, which had a large square, surrounded by lots of Cafe's and restaurants. This is quite a picturesque town, well worth visitingWritten June 1, 2019
- syan0vich0 contributionsLOVELY ANTIQUE CITYThis city is from Medieval times with many of the original facades recently painted. Just lovely. Many plazas full of restaurants and people all over. Enjoyed sitting in one of these restaurants and drinking delicious Rumanian wine.Written June 1, 2019

Sighisoara is one of the cities in Romania you can't miss. If you go in hot seasons you will assist to many festivals organized.
