Tugu’s Traditional Grand Rijsttafel, or Rice Table, portrays the sumptuous social feast that used to be celebrated by the Dutch plantation lords when they hosted their honorable guests during the Colonial years. Prepared according to traditional recipes that were only ever handed from generation to generation, the Grand Rijsttafel is a display of the colorful richness of Indonesian cuisine served by a parade of servers in elegant Indonesian ancient uniforms. This is the way lavish Indonesian cuisine was presented, where a rice platter is enjoyed with various different small side dishes together to make the one elaborate Rijsttafel dish. At Hotel Tugu Bali, the Rijsttafel is held at Bale Puputan Museum decorated by memorabilia reminiscence of Balinese Royal families, some of which dating back to the 19th century and others relating to the Puputan War.

A Memorable Cultural Evening at Hotel Tugu Bali
Attending the cultural evening at Hotel Tugu Bali was an unforgettable experience. The dinner showcased delicious Indonesian cuisine beautifully presented. I love their idea of Nasi Congklak, perfect for sharing. The Balinese dance performance was mesmerizing; I can't believe I can find it in the middle of Canggu! The attention to detail, warm hospitality, and enchanting ambiance made the evening truly special. I highly recommend this Balinese performance as a cultural experience for a taste of authentic Balinese culture that will leave a lasting impression.

      Amazing performance
We were staying nearby and noted their sign for the free dance performance. We turned up on the night and, as luck would have it, there was a free table. In future, I'd recommend booking a table to avoid any disappointment. From the second we walked in, we were treated with the utmost hospitality and warmth. I was feeling really unwell that day so the staff arranged a special tea to help my stomach, which was incredibly thoughtful and kind. The performance itself was exquisite. It is set in an extremely intimate environment, and the best way introduce yourself to ancient Balinese arts, dance and music.

Impressive & Memorable Traditional Balinese Dance & Culinary
We were very lucky to be nearby Canggu when Tugu Hotel held Traditional Balinese dance performance on Thursdays. Non hotel guests are welcomed, just need to make a reservation day(s) before. The seating was very impressive (before a century-old wood carvings, the centrepiece of the hotel's spacious reception hall), not only the performance stage, but also the spectators' table-setting. We enjoyed Sisya dance dated back from Singasari Kingdom era, Tari Topeng (mask dance), and the philosopic Barong-Randa dance. Live gamelan (traditional percussion set) enhanced the atmosphere. What a fantastic show! Spectators take pictures with the dancers afterwards. Proud of these young Balinese who have preserved their culture. Our dinner, specially ordered after the show, Nasi Campur Bali of Balinese royal heritage recipe, was exquisite. Do ask for extra sambel matah (chili), though, or you'll regreat it. Our dessert, chocolate mousse plus raspberry sorbet, was temptuous delicacy (trust me, one portion won't suffice, even after a filling dinner. We definitely will pop up to Tugu Canggu again when in Bali.

      Balinese dinner and dance
Free Balinese dance performance with the purchase of dinner. We reserved one day in advance by email. There were three dance performances with small breaks in between. Beautiful costumes and wonderful music. Highly recommend!

      Not our favourite trip!
I dont know what we were expecting but we found the traditional balinese dancing a bit boring. Too much of the same thing and we dont understand bahasa so the story line was lost on us. Costumes were excellent but I would not rush to watch another one!
