      Better than the Movies
Ketchikan was beautiful. It is well worth seeing the peace and serenity that surrounds such a place, which makes everything else seem so small.

      Seeing Bears - Our Highlight!
Shane, a local, was our guide, he knew where to go and was very informative about Ketchikan and the surrounding area. Although the weather was miserable we were still able to see the salmon ladder, eagles and we had a stop at a waterfall. However the highlight was being taken to a small river and watch 2 bears feed on the countless salmon. We were on a cruise and tours to see bears in the wild were far more expensive and I imagine not as good. So, totally enjoyed this tour it was one of the highlights of our cruise. Thanks Shane.

      Cruisers Beware!
We were reserved on a tour with Shane at Seaside Tours for September 1st at 10:30 am from our Celebrity Summit cruise (4 persons - $280) after reading some very positive reviews. The tour guide (Shane) was 45 minutes late when he showed up and announced that he did not have enough drivers to fill the reservations. He was frustrated and tried being apologetic and then attempted to try to get us on an another company’s tour that was not leaving for yet another 45 minutes. The tour was approx 2 1/2 hours long and we needed to be back onboard by 3:00 pm. We knew that this timing wouldn’t work for our group and Shane then asked if we just wanted a refund instead for the $280 that was prepaid for the tour. I have to date contacted this company by email and text 4 times and they have not had the courtesy to respond to my request in any way. Seaside Tours does not have reputable business practices and I would take my business and reservations elsewhere.

Seaside Tours proceed with EXTREME CAUTION
I should have known better. On September 2nd, I booked the All-In-One tour for Ketchikan on October 4th directly from Seaside Tours' website. The website clearly stated that children under 6 were free, yet I was charged $15 for my two toddlers. When I contacted Shane to address the discrepancy, he promised to look into it. On September 8th, I informed Shane that two adults would no longer be joining the tour and requested a credit for their portion of the payment. However, my subsequent requests for a refund for the two adults and one child who couldn't make the tour and the original charge for the under six kids were met with complete silence. Then, on October 3rd, we received news that our ship wouldn't be docking due to weather. I immediately informed Shane, but again, there was no response. I've never felt compelled to write a negative review, but Seaside Tours' lack of integrity has left me with no choice. I urge anyone considering booking with them to proceed with extreme caution.

      Great experience
The guide was very good and experience in the areas. We saw lots of salmons & black bears. He was very good to accommodate our needs, especially we had kids.

      A taste of Alaskan wilderness
Took a great tour with this outfit on our Alaskan Cruise with Princess. Ketchikan is such a delightful and attarctive little town with so much history of the old mining activities of Alaska. Their day tour gave us a great snippet of what the area had to offer. It was incredibly wonderful and the family loved it, away from the cruise madness and into a bit of Alaskan wilderness.

      Knowledgeable local conducting tour
Very knowledgeable local giving the tour. Told us about the city, life here, social/economic. Told us lot’s about the natives and totem poles. Did his best to find bears for us but they did not want to come out!

      This tour is the best
I don't write reviews, but for this one had to. Shane is a local who grew up in Ketchikan and knows his stuff. The tour takes you to the standard places and some places that others don't. Shane knows Ketchikan and spends time talking about the town, his growing up, and the people. While we were at the salmon refinery I overheard one of the other guides telling stories of how a whale kissed him and his "captain". Then Shane yells "BEAR" and the other guide is still talking about his "captain". If you are interested in learning about Ketchikan, Shane is your guy. Thank you Shane for the wonderful experience.

Shane will do his best to get you a 🐻
Look no further! Shane is your tour guide, period! What a way to make our tour super entertaining, with a wealth of knowledge of Ketchikan, and taking you to the right spots to get the best glimpse of Ketchikan in the shortest amount of time! We almost didn’t see a bear 🐻, but Shane was persistent and got us a bear within the last 45 minutes of the tour. It was absolutely amazing! Oh, and for the right price too ! Thank you Shane, we will never forget this experience and will be back !

      Great tour bad smell
Our guide was fantastic and we had a nice time. It was a shame that the van smelled so strongly of cigarettes that we all felt ill.

      Great Guide
The guide (Shane) was very informative. We liked that he was a resident of the area and could speak from experience. Since we weren't able to see any bears at Rotary Beach because the tide was up so high, he was able to find a special spot where we were able to spot a couple of bears. There was no rush at any of the spots. He let us stay as long as we wanted.

Bad experience with the tour manager
My sister and I went on a cruise together and booked this tour together. Our tour was on a Friday but I accidentally booked mine for the day before and did not realize it until I checked my ticket the day before the tour. So, we went to the tour meeting place the day of and explained to the manager, Shane, what had happened and asked if I could go with my sister since I had already paid $95 for the tour. Shane told me no because I was a ‘no show’ the day before and I would have to pay for another ticket if I wanted to go. My sister and I both tried to explain what happened but Shane still would not let me go (the tour was not full that day either and he had plenty of room in the van). I didn’t want my sister to go alone so I paid an additional $70 (in cash, wouldn’t take a credit card) to take the tour with my sister. The tour itself was okay but not worth the money or hassle I had to pay. I think the whole situation was handled poorly by Shane. You would think they would want to to accommodate their paying customers and keep families together but this was not the case. I would not recommend this tour.

      Ketchikan All in One
We were picked up at the meeting site 45 minutes late. We didn't see any bears, but did see seals and salmon. Saxman Village was very interesting.

Great visit! Thanks for ordering in the great weather.
It’s interesting to see the adaptations cities and town make after transitioning from their ‘boom and bust’ periods. Long live experienced tour guides like Shane.

This was a fabulous excursion. Ava was the best tour guide ever. She is very knowledgeable of the area and the it’s history. She was very enthusiastic and gave us lots of information. She was ready to walk the beach, turning rocks over to show us crabs, star fish and other marine life. She and Mike the driver were great, stopped at a beautiful water fall and for a bear siting. It was by far the best tour we took. Family friendly, their vans are big enough for a small group. You feel very exclusive. Because it’s a smaller company and NOT owned by the cruise ships they asked us how long we wanted to be out and they were be able to drop us right by the terminal. Keep in mind we were their only tour that day but still…there are HUGE perks to going with a small business.

We had a great time on this tour with Ava and Mike! We first stopped at a water fall with a manmade salmon ladder and Ava explained the life cycle of the salmon. Amazing! We also stopped at a beach where we were able to comb for sea glass and stones and Ava found a beautiful purple star fish the size of her hand! We visited 3 different totem parks and Ava was very knowledgeable of the history, culture and traditions of the native people and the totems. There was also a really nice gift shop along the way with a museum attached showing some history of the area and great artifacts. This excursion was reasonably priced and well worth the time. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot!

We had a fantastic tour thru Ketchikan that included the salmon ladder, an extensive black bear sighting, Creek Street, the totem pole carving site, and too many scenic sites to list here. Our tour guide was Ketchikan born and bred and she shared her extensive knowledge of the area with us throughout the tour. If you’re looking for a small group tour that will give you an insider’s view of Ketchikan at an extremely reasonable price, look no further — this is it!

Shawn (forgive me if I got the name wrong) greeted us at the location that was described to me exactly to the tee. Another couple never made it so we had a private tour and our guide Courtney let us choose how long we wanted to stay at each stop. We even asked to cut it short slightly because of some shopping we wanted to do. Unfortunately the cruise ship shortened our time in a place that could have used several more hours. Even though we didn't see bears, eagles, seals or whales it was a great time getting to know lots about Ketchikan. I would highly recommend this tour. No need to book excursions from the cruise ships that are over priced and packed like sardines in a can.

Shane was very informative. He was very patient as we were running late because our ship docked in a different location. He gave us a lot of interesting info. Would definitely tour thru them again. He was willing to wait for the bears to show their face as long as we were willing to wait . An earlier comment made about not price matching was with trip advisor so we cancelled thru them and booked directly as trip advisor kept playing games in requesting the same thing over and over for proof.
If going on the tour from a cruise ship just make sure it docks where he is located or you need to take the shuttle into town anlut 15 mins. and then walk about 10 mins to the meeting point. We learned the hard way but Shane was great in waiting the extra 5-10 minutes for us and another couple from another ship.

Really nice tour with knowledgeable guides. Meeting place is easy to find and basically right off the ship by the visitor center. You'll be in vans so it will be a small group. Lots of time to spend at the stops. It appears the tour write up is basically a guide, but can be modified based upon what is available. For example we spent a lot of time watching eagles over a Salmon river as the Salmon were running that day. Had to have seen 15-20 eagles - but it was that time of the year. Other times there might not be any so the tour could go someplace else. Regardless it was a good experience and worth the money. Only issue is the tour didn't provide any water. Might want to bring your own.

Do not book this tour if you are sailing to Ketchikan with NCL. We were not informed that the meeting place for the tour is a 20 minute bus ride into town from the port and then a 1/2 mile walk. By the time we disembarked the cruise ship, took the bus to town, then made the half mile walk, the tour was long gone. We requested a refund but of course we were denied. Really disappointed to miss out on touring this stop

The driver was very friendly as he drove our group around Ketchikan and the outskirts. He took us to a river with salmon swimming upstream to spawn. And we saw a bear in the distance!
The tour guide mostly left us on our own to explore each location.
He only took us to one totem pole location instead of the two that are advertised. And we were left to just wander the totems and figure things out for ourselves. He did give us a pamphlet that had brief descriptions of each pole. And we found another tour group that had a guide that knew the fun stories behind each totem so we joined with them for two of the stories.

This excursion started out later than expected due to tardiness of the driver. Once we were all in the van the organizer sent us off with what seemed to be an inexperienced guide. He took us around town and pointed out salmon ladder, Creek Street, community school, etc. then we made a stop at Rotary Park which had beautiful scenery. Next stop was a salmon hatchery for a few minutes then to a rather obscure waterfall. From there we went to Saxman Totem Park where we were given a brochure and about 15 minutes to walk around then back to the cruise port. Our guide admitted he was not well versed in history or the art of touring..I commented that this wasn't what the tour description stated and now I don't even see the "Ketchikan 4 in 1" listed. The folks on our cruise recommended tours that enabled them to view a lot of wildlife.

I am not reviewing the actual tour, but an experience I had with Seaside Tours. I had booked the "Ketchikan 4 in 1" Tour. I arrived by cruise ship and arrived at the meeting point early. The tour representative asked for my name, but couldn't find it on his list. We learned that by my own mistake, I had shown up on the wrong day...a Thursday instead of Tuesday. They told me if I had contacted them two days earlier, they would have made an exception. But naturally, I didn't because I hadn't realized that I had made the mistake until that morning! So, they said I couldn't go. I could understand that if the tour van going was FULL and they didn't have room, but there were only two other people going on the tour that day, and they had PLENTY of room. I just think it would have been good customer service and a good will gesture to let us board the van and go on the excursion, especially since we had already PAID for it! Just sayin.'

I remember this, on the day you booked for. ( the wrong day). We attempted to call you several times a group was on hold waiting on your response. We called and sent messages. Not one call or return message sent. (No communication from your end). Then 2 days later and by your own admission. You figured out. You booked for the wrong day. But still no communication the day of ,before your tour time. You walk up hand me a ticket. Still mention nothing about your mistake. I called my secretary and had a group that showed up on their day and time they booked for. Trying to figure out a problem. That you already knew the reason for. See if you would have came up explained the situation. But you didn't. You walked up handed me a ticket that was 2 days past your tour date an hoped I just over look it. 1. 2 days before we had a group waiting for you. 2. Two days you never returned a call or message 3. On the day you show up. Another waiting for us to figure out the problem you already knew the answer to. You picked the wrong day that's why you we not on the list. We have great customer service. And we have had great visitors. We are glad to wait for folks who stay in contact. We go above and beyond to show our visitors the best our island has to offer. Communication is key for our visitors who make mistakes. We do thank you for your review.
