After meeting at the rainfall gauge near the cruise dock we lucked out as there was just the two of us on the tour with Mason. He was cool with us modifying the tour and being a local he was so knowledgeable about the sites. We had a lot of laughs following the running salmon from the ladder to Herring Cove way upstream and spotted bald eagles, great blue herons, and a seal along the way. Mason even waded into the river to rescue a young boy's lure that he nearly lost. We were excited to visit the totem pole site and after asking the senior carver's permission he let us in the building where they were carving a new pole (great smell of cedar!).

Our tour guide shared a lot of interesting local information, and he listened to and responded to all of our questions really well. The tour van had definitely seen better days, and our tour guide smoked during every stop, so it was hard to enjoy the fresh Alaska air. The stop at Rotary Beach was unnecessary except for the fact that it offered a restroom. It would have been better just to spend more time at Herring Cove watching for bears. We selected this tour because it fit with the very specific schedule that our cruise experience dictated, but overall, a higher-end tour would have been preferable.

Great tour if you want a quick look about Ketchikan, everything is simple and straightforward. Small group and you can ask all the question and understand better about the city and people's life.
With young kids, this effortless tour for the best of our need.

SO UNPROFESSIONAL! Consumer Beware!!! Had one of the worst experiences with this tour operator (Seaside Tours). Shuttle from cruise ship to meeting location was slightly delayed, so we called to see if it would be OK if we got there with a little delay (10-15 min). A male answered from the company and said that there were several people in the same situation and not to worry, that they’d wait for us. When we got there, they were no where to be found. We waited and we waited. After about 20 minutes we tried calling them at least a 1/2 dozen times and no one picked up. Finally, we went into the Ketchikan Visitors Center (right next to meeting location) and with their help, we finally got someone to answer. They said that they had to go get another group and just left. They said they’d be back. After another 30 minutes or so, they were still a no show. We were the only ones still waiting at the RainGage meeting point. I can’t tell you how many times we tried reaching them and no one answered. At that point, we called Trip Advisor to share what had happened and to request a refund. They rep seemed friendly enough and said not to worry, that they had to investigate formally and would be emailing us. It appears that the tour operator blatantly lied about what happened and said that we were the ones that didn’t show up. (They should request CCTV video of the visitor center area). Trip Advisor is believing their lies and we are out nearly $600. The business practices of this operator are shameful. Some local people there overheard our calls and said that this company doesn’t have a great reputation. I see why. Please be careful with your family and your money. They have no regard for professionalism or your hard earned family money. I am so disappointed as this was a special trip with our children Trip Advisor’s communication and response also leave a lot to be desired. Wanted to share an honest experience in the hopes of helping someone else be able to enjoy an excursion in Ketchikan and not fall prey to something like this. So disappointed.

Just absorbing the rich history of the area. No bears, but the rest of the tour was filled with a rich description of each area we visited. Our guide imparted history with story telling and I highly recommend you hook up with this group to ensure a well informed tour.

Seaside tours never showed up for our tour. My party of 8 along with 6 other folks waited at the designated spot without any contact. We were lucky, found firewood Adventures for a great tour. I don't recommend Seaside Tour's and they should be ashamed for their lack of common courtesy.

This is a great tour for getting to see a little bit of everything that Ketchikan has to offer. Our tour guides were great, really helpful and friendly and they were very knowledgeable. While we unfortunately didn't see bears on our day (always a gamble with nature) it was still a great tour and we would definitely recommend it others.

Don't waste your valuable vacation time! No speaker in Van, so people in back couldn't hear. Tour guide wasn't knowledgeable, unless you wanted to know about nightlife. We learned more from other tour guides that had stopped at the same places we had. Spend your time in Ketchikan downtown!

We had a few senior citizens in our group and as such could not do much adventure activities. However, this trip was an excellent introduction to life in Ketchikan. The tour guide Eva was wonderful and excited to share her personal experiences living in Ketchikan. We toured the local beach, a salmon fishery boardwalk where we got a chance to see many bald eagles and visited the saxman village with many totem poles. The best part was her knowledge about all things local and made the experience a memorable one

We booked this tour directly with Seaside Tours instead of through the Cruise Ship. This was, by far, the most fun and informative tour we booked during our 7 day Cruise up the Inside Passage. Eli, our Tour Guide was awesome! He has great knowledge of the History, Culture and Wildlife of the Ketchikan Area. He made the tour fun and memorable. We spent time at the Salmon Ladders, Saxman Native Villiage Totem Poles and Herring Cove. We were a little dissappointed that we didnt see any Bears at Herring Cove but that was just Mother Nature and not any fault of the Tour.

My cruise itinerary states that we will be in port at 8 am. Can I schedule the 8 am tour with your company, or do I need to schedule a later tour?

Your all in one tour only leaves at 8 am but 4 in 1 has four departure times? Is that correct?
Is this business still functioning? I called the number listed and person was not associated with Seaside Tours.

What time is the best time to go to see bears and eagles

We saw lots of eagles and one bear. Probably best when salmon is running June/July/August. May we were too early for bears.
