What to expect
Worry-free Shore Excursion: We will ensure your timely return to the Ketchikan port for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details. After port pickup, your 3.5-hour Alaskan shore excursion begins with a picturesque coach ride to a quiet mountain lake. Here, board a stable, easy-to-maneuver, Native American–style canoe large enough to accommodate your group. Navigate across a lake through the Tongass National Forest, the largest national forest in the United States. Hear about the Native American history of the Ketchikan area, and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife along the shoreline. Dock the canoe, and dig into delicious Native American–style snacks, including clam chowder, smoked fish, fresh bread rolls with wild berry jams, and refreshing beverages. Revitalized, set off after your guide on a short nature walk through the rain forest. Then, paddle back to the departing dock and enjoy transport back to the cruise ship port.

Peaceful outing in beautiful surroundings
Jul 2019 • Family
Our family really enjoyed this excursion! Bus driver, Lisa, was funny and shared some interesting history about the area. Boat guide, Doran, was very personable and made the experience a lot of fun, as well as informative. Loved canoeing the beautiful Lake Harriett and an easy stroll through the lovely woods. The snack was a nice bonus. (Keep in mind, you will be paddling the canoe, along with the others in the group. Our boat had about twenty of us.)

Rewarding nature experience!
Jul 2019 • Couples
Our guided nature tour of Breton Island rain forest near Ketchikan was a real treat. Our guide, Lauren, was knowledgeable and personable. We learned a lot about this unique natural landscape and its micro ecosystems. Lovely!

Fantastic!
Jun 2019 • Family
We loved this excursion! From the bus driver to the tour guide (I think his name was Doran?) everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable. The snack at the cook shack was great too! Would highly recommend for anyone who wants to get out of the main touristy areas and see more of the island. The lake was beautiful, the canoes felt very stable and safe, and the nature walk was interesting. You have to paddle, but there are a lot of you so it’s not too hard. Would go again for sure!
