    What to Expect
While in Ketchikan, fill your craving for excitement with this half-day off-road vehicle and canoe adventure. After port pickup, your shore excursion begins with a safety briefing on operating a 4WD Jeep Wrangler® at the activities center. You’ll be placed in groups of four, and during the drive, you’ll switch drivers so that everyone has a chance to get behind the steering wheel.
Time to set off! Rev your way on a route deep inside Tongass National Forest, on back roads and through rain forests. Using two-way radios, your group leader-guide shares commentary on the local geology. Blaze past old-growth and new-growth woods, and stop to take pictures at stunning vantage points.
When you arrive at Lake Harriet Hunt, prepare for your next mode of transport — a Native American–style canoe stretching 37 feet (11 meters) long with a capacity to carry 20 passengers. Make your way across the mountain lake, and then follow your guide on a nature hike through an old-growth forest.
Settle down for a snack break at a forest camp, and recharge with clam chowder, smoked salmon and bread rolls buttered with local wild-berry jam, and wash it all down with coffee or hot chocolate.
With plenty of photos and great memories, board your transport that takes you back to Ketchikan port.
    Worry-free Shore Excursion:
We will ensure your timely return to the Ketchikan port for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.

Great tour for cruise ship passengers or other travelers with limited time in Ketchikan. The jeeps are a blast on the old logging roads, and are clean (inside) and well maintained. The canoe trip, nature walk and Alaskan snack are great as well. Our guide,...More

Sam and Tom were a blast! They were great at educating our tour group about the ecological environment. They also gave us plenty of opportunities for photo ops.

I think we hiked about a half mile on an uneven path. You do need to step over felled trees and roots. I think the biggest challenge would be getting in and out of the canoe.

Whatever you are comfortable in. Lots of moving and you are likely to get wet. I wore active wear and waterproof jacket (we had a pretty sunny day so the jacket was not needed) Have fun!
