      Worth it!
A couple miles paddling across the Mendenhall lake with a small group to a remote spot only 1% of visitors get to see - right up next to the glacier. The jokes and facts along the way make it a fun trip and gorgeous views 360 degrees around. 100% would go again! Super hospitable and knowledgeable guides, stunning landscape.

Incredible excursion! Justin drive us from the port to the lake and gave us wonderful history of Juneau for the 30 min drive. Then Justin and Jordan took us out on the lake— they were wonderful guides, took photos for us and the views from the canoe and hiking were stunning!

      Awesome Glacial Ice Adventure
This tour turned out to be one of the best experiences we've had so far in Alaska. Despite the rain we never felt cold or uncomfortable at any time due to the awesome gear we were provided with. Our tour guides, Mike and Sophie were very helpful, communicative, enthusiastic and funny and kept us entertained with jokes and facts about the Glacier and the nature around it.! They were successful in ensuring that all of us paddled well to keep the boat going. We couldn't have asked for better guides than them. With the Glacier receding, this tour is a must if you want to view the Glacier up close in all its beauty. The landing on the beach with a short hike close to the glacier is the highlight of the tour.

      A spectacular glacier viewing tour
This was a great trip for our group of 7 adults, my husband and I plus our 3 children and my parents. Jordan and Beko were a joy to be around as well as very conscientious and informative as our guides. This was a well run tour and the front row glacier viewing was spectacular. The provided rain gear was a plus too!

      Glacier Canoe/Hike
First off, this tour I would recommend to anyone in some sort of physical shape who can canoe and hike. The views were fantastic, the weather was just perfect for our day and our tour guides were the TIP of the iceberg. Dawson and Sophie were extremely full of energy and knowledge throughout the whole tour and there was never a dull moment. Best excursion and tour guides ever!!

      Great excursion close to Juneau!
My mom and I spent the weekend in Juneau for my moms birthday and went on the Mendenhall Glacier Ice Adventure tour with Sophie and Ryley and they were awesome!! It was the best excursion of our weekend! During the drive to the lake, Ryley was pointing out eagles, bears, telling us local facts, and had funny stories. They provide all of the necessary gear and we even got snacks in our dry packs! Sophie was a fabulous boat captain and had the best jokes, stories, and information about the glacier. Walking near the glacier was amazing and we had so much time to take photos. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who has a day in Juneau.

Unforgettable Mendenhall Glacier Adventure with Devyn and Justin
I recently went on the Mendenhall Glacier Ice Adventure Tour with guides Devyn and Justin, and it was an exceptional experience. Devyn and Justin were fantastic guides—both knowledgeable and entertaining, which made the hike even more enjoyable. Their enthusiasm and expertise added so much to the adventure. The hike itself was breathtaking, offering stunning views of the glacier and surrounding landscapes. To top it all off, the great coffee served afterward was the perfect ending to an unforgettable tour. Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore Mendenhall Glacier with top-notch guides!

      Mendenhall Glacier Ice Adventure Tour
The tour was the highlight of our trip to Alaska! Five stars isn’t enough for this 10 star tour! There are many tours where you can see the sights of the “last frontier”, but how many where you can observe through sight, sound, smell and sensation by traveling under your own power, paddling a canoe and taking a short and only slightly strenuous hike to truly be a part of nature in a wild, breathtaking location, and do it all in one afternoon? I never could have imagined having such an amazing experience! Our guides, Jordan and Biko, were both certified as wilderness first responders, which put us at ease, so that we could truly enjoy paddling to the far side of the lake and hiking over glacial rock deposits to the Mendenhall Glacier. Jordan kept us entertained as we paddled across the lake to and from the glacier by telling us about the geology, history and natural features of the surroundings, while interjecting an occasional humorous comment. Biko led the way across the water to the edge of the wilderness for an up close view of the glacier. This was once-in- a-lifetime opportunity to immerse ourselves in nature without all the trouble of having to plan all the details ourselves. Even though we had about 15 minutes of light rain, we were snug and dry in our rainproof gear the entire trip. The beauty of Nugget Falls, was awe inspiring on both legs of the journey, with the roar of falling water offset by the peaceful silence of the lake and forest surrounding us. When we returned to our starting point, they had hot beverages waiting for us. Well worth the price!

We loved SOPHIE & RYLEY! Amazing tour!
We were greeted by the very friendly Ryley! She was warm and welcoming. The pick up location was easy to find. We boarded a nice clean comfortable van. Ryley entertained us the entire way pointing out several eagles AND three bears! We were then greeted at the beautiful lake by the super energetic, Sophie! We knew immediately we were in good hands! They had all the top quality gear we needed! We suited up and boarded a beautiful canoe! Sophie entertained us the whole way with interesting facts, stories and great jokes! I even lost track of my paddle because I was so enthralled with her stories! The walked up to the glacier and there was a rainbow over it! It was spectacular!! We had plenty of time to take pictures and admire the beauty. Sophie continued to make the trip back amazing! And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better Sophie made us a hot beverage as we bast in the glory of the scenery! Ryley gave us a safe & enjoyable trip back to town. Sophie gave us a great tip to use our tram pass to watch the sunset! We forgot the pass is unlimited for the day! It was an incredible day thanks to Sophie & Ryley!

Had an amazing experience with Liquid Alaska's Canoe excursion to the Mendenhall Glacier! Kevin was welcoming, entertaining and knowledgeable and kept us safe while giving everyone amazing and optimal experiences and views of the icebergs and wildlife during the trip. He was even able to pick out a bald eagle resting on chunk of water in the middle of the lake, which we were able to capture through the binoculars provided while on the trip. Highly recommend this excursion, and know that Liquid Alaska is only 1 of 2 outfitters that can enter the bay with the glacier. We ended up close to 100 yards to the face of this icon!

Andrew and Ryan led us through a terrific experience. They supplied our group of about 16 with rain boots, jackets and pants, and we needed them for the rain that day. We loaded into a big canoe where you sit two to a rung and all paddle in tandem. It was a blast.
We made it across the lake with our guides telling us about the area. After landing, we were given crampons and safety instructions and were off to the ice.The ice caves and tunnels were stunning and a lake had formed within the glacier . The stunning blues of the ice defied description. Even found a stream of water running down an ice cave wall and off a ledge-voila, a glacier water fountain.THAT'S pure water and delicious to drink. We got back to the start point and had hot chocolate and coffee to warm up.It is a not to be missed adventure.

It was a last minute decision for me and I’m so grateful that I made it. Kelsie met us under the tramway, loaded us up and drove us through town to the lake. She was lovely and entertaining filling us in on everything from the local surroundings and culture to teaching us how to interpret Wisconsin accents. When we were arrived at the lake we were greeted by Paul and the two of them helped us gear up quickly and get on the water. Paul did a great job explaining our surroundings as we rode across and sprinkled in several ridiculous jokes that made the time fly. The scenery was spectacular and the trip was definitely one of the highlights of my cruise. I would highly recommend liquid Alaska tours based on my experience.

We are by no means professional or even recreational canoers. Frankly, we signed up mostly for the pictures.

Our guide Paul took care of every detail to ensure we had an optimal experience from the moment we hopped into his van. During the ride to and from the lake, not to mention the canoe trip, Paul shared insightful knowledge about Alaska along with tips and tricks on how to navigate the canoe itself. The company provides all the equipment you may need including boots, gloves, lifejackets and stores your belongings safely while you are on the water. An added bonus was the snacks and drinks provided as this is a longer excursion.

Paul did a good job of ensuring we were paddling where we needed to go on the lake but balancing it out with breaks and photo opportunities as the conditions allowed, all while remaining sensitive to the group's overall paddling abilities. Needless to say, we walked away with some epic pictures and unforgettable memories.

Day began with our glacier helicopter tour being cancelled due to rain/poor visibility and I'm honestly kind of glad about it. On a whim we jumped on this tour and had the best time. My wife already posted a review, but felt obliged to submit my own to gloat some more about our awesome guides Bryce and Meara. They both provided a very friendly and informational experience, making sure to accommodate the group as much as possible, while feeling as if you were just going out with some good friends for the day. Would return for another tour just to hang out with these guys.

    The actual trip:
Late June, we get all the weather in one day. Good amount of rain, a little gusty at times , and some welcome spots of sunshine. After we shuttled to the lake from Juneau we canoed across the lake as a crew, so some manual labor required to make it to the Glacier, but wasn't too daunting of a task. Great close up views of nugget falls and after disembarking you get about as close as you can to the Glacier itself. They provided boots, rain gear, life jackets, and a dry bag accompanied by some snacks and water to keep you fueled. After making it back we received a selection of hot drinks to warm up a bit for our shuttle back to town.
These guys really thought of everything and would absolutely recommend it to anyone considering trying to see Mendenhall Glacier.

We had a wonderful day (by Juneau standards) with a light drizzle. The day started off meeting Casey at the cruise terminal where a shuttle brought us to a parking lot where the rest of the group joined and we got fitted for our gear (raincoat/pants/gloves/rainboots, helmet, life vest, a dry bag with snacks and a bottle of water). We took a canoe out to Mendenhall Glacier and it wasn't a hard row out to the glacier. There, we helped hoist the canoe out of the water, got fitted with microspikes, and then started walking on the glacier! We got to see beautiful crevasses and try some glacial ice. Felt safe the entire time. It wasn't difficult at all and we had a great time! Thanks Ryan, Andrew, and Casey!

This was such a cool experience and Paul was an awesome guide. They provided pants, gloves, and rain jackets so we stayed warm and dry, and even snacks for the ride. Paul was knowledgeable about the lake and glacier and patient with our slower paddlers. The trip was fun for our family (including two teenagers) and the warm drinks at the end made it perfect to wind down before heading back to the cruise. We booked directly through Liquid Alaska instead of the cruise line, and I would recommend it!

This was our favorite excursion in Alaska - it was absolutely amazing! Our guides Alec and Miller took treated our family of five (kids ages 11, 13, and 20) to a fun adventure paddling and hiking up toward Mendenhall Glacier. We booked last minute when our cruise's shore excursion was cancelled, so we were unsure of what to expect, but Alec and Miller guided us through everything - safety, gearing up, paddling, and information about the glacier itself and Mendenhall Lake. Views were breathtaking and the team paddle was lots of fun with the others in our group. I can't say enough about how professional and friendly Alec and Miller were and how they are fantastic employees contributing to Liquid Alaska's success - bravo!

We booked an excursion with Liquid Alaska Tours to canoe to Mendenhall Glacier on our visit to Juneau, AK. We had a fantastic time. We were picked up near our cruise ship and shuttled by our guide up to Mendenhall Lake. We were outfitted with all the gear we needed for the tour including boots, rain-pants and jacket, as well as Neoprex gloves to keep comfortable. Our tour guide was Ben, who was extremely knowledgeable regarding all aspects of our tour and even beyond. He was able to point out the various landmarks, current resident animal life and stories behind them as well. We even learned the story of “Romeo” the black wolf known in the legends of Juneau. We were able to get close enough to enjoy the beauty of several cool blue and white icebergs as well as Nugget Falls and finally up to Mendenhall Glacier. We were fortunate to have an experienced guide who knew so much about the history, geography, and native wildlife to keep us both entertained and confident he could answer just about anything we could throw his way. This was the perfect way to spend our afternoon in Juneau, capped with a cup of warm cider & cocoa before returning to town as we spotted Bald Eagles along the way. We highly recommend if you are looking to experience Mendenhall Glacier that an afternoon on the lake with Ben is the way to do it!
