About the operator
- O81AAeduardof00Must do experience in AlaskaOutstanding experience - breathtaking views, and memories that will last forever for us and our kids. Great pilot service, attention and support. Highly recommend.
- HockeyFam201400Hebert Glacier tour with Coastal HelicoptersSimply amazing tour of Hebert Glacier in Juneau by helicopter. We are a family of 11 ranging in age from 68 to 5 years old. We were able to have two helicopters and were divided up by family and weight to balance the load of each. We were picked up by van at the end of the dock where our ship was and taken to the Juneau airport where we were all were all weighed and fitted with ice cleats that went over own shoes. We were then given safety instructions and boarded the two waiting helicopters. Since this was our first time for all of us being in a helicopter, we were a little nervous but that quickly went away as we took off so smoothly that you didn't feel any uneasiness. Our pilot Corey was excellent as we flew for about 20 minutes to the glacier. Once there Corey was able to fly us around different areas of the glacier so we could get an idea of the immense size and depth of the Hebert Glacier. We landed in a great spot as the second helicopter landed near us so our entire family was together as we got out and walked on the surface. We couldn't believe how deep blue the ice color was under the tiny streams of glacier water flowing near us. We had all brought collapsible cups with us so we could drink the pure water from the glacier. We were able to spend over 20 minutes on the glacier and during that time our daughter;s boyfriend got down on one knee and took out a ring and proposed to her. That was a special moment none of us will ever forget. After some great pictures including some taken by the pilots of our family we got back in the helicopters and headed back over the glacier and some mountains back to the airport. The van then drove us back to our ship. We highly recommend Coastal Helicopters which we did not book through the ship but did our homework and found they were by far the best choice. This was one of the best tours we decided to take and are so glad we did. The pictures attached gives you an idea but you must experience this tour for yourself to see how vast this glacier is.
- Arw061800What an expoThis tour is a must when in Alaska! The helicopter ride is fabulous. Chris was our pilot and he was just terrific. Explaining about the glaciers, crevasses, mountains etc. Landing on the glacier was incredible. Seemed like we were on another planet. Was able to drink the incredibly clear cold water! Just an amazing experience! Worth every penny!!
- 700paulitas00Must do experienceTruly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We walked the glacier and touched the ice and water in the crevasse. Spectacular photos on the glacier and from the helicopter.
- jab86So_Illinois00Trip of a lifetime !The helicopter ride was smooth, and our pilot, Corey, was so informative in route!! The view was magnificent!! The whole staff was very pleasant and professional. We were provided rain gear as it was raining on the glacier before we left, but when we landed it wasn’t raining. The excursion was worth every penny!!!!
- itravelnewpaths00BEST excursion we did on our entire trip! BOOK Coastal Helicopters.By far, this was the best excursion of our entire 11 day Alaska trip. Starting with our bad ass 23-year-old helicopter pilot, Oceana, she made our rainy day a ton of fun and our first trip in a helicopter, spectacular. On the glacier, Josie, who was training her sled dogs for the Iditarod competition, explained the role of each dog and their unique personalities. This was a bigtime splurge for us, but it was worth every penny. Here's a tip: we packed all of our cold weather gear for this excursion, but guess what? They provide absolutely everything you could need, from shoe covers, to rain pants to rain coats. We had all of our own clothing, but had we known it was provided, we could have saved an entire suitcase. Many people on our ship had their tours cancelled due to weather, but ours went on.
- B3642DUkarena00Spectacular ViewsIf you are on the fence about spending the money to do this Experience, let me tell you that it is well worth it! My husband was very nervous about the helicopter, but the staff was so professional and took all the safety measures very seriously, to make him feel at ease. The views flying over the glacier and mountains was so beautiful, I took a ton of photos. My husband and I had to be split up on the sled, due to he odd number of people, but that was OK. I went on Joey's sled, and he was great and answered all my questions about the dogs, racing and the glacier. I was disappointed with the professional photos that were taken by an independent company. They were very far away and a little blurry, so not worth the cost in my opinion, but we took lots on our own.
- 652spm00Great Time! This was an awesome experience! My grandson (13) and I (68) had a wonderful time in the helicopter and at the dog park. The sled ride was a unique experience that I will never forget. Seeing the views from the helicopter was fantastic! I highly recommend this tour.
- Ricardo E00It was amazing feeling of drinking water from glaciers. It was THE most exciting experience in Alaska. It is perfect to have it in family watch the glaciers and having the experience walk on that.
- lesg4201900fun tourthe glacier was so beuatiful and the water so blue. The helicopter ride was fun and the pilot very friendly. Wish we had taken the dog sledding tour as well.
- smac196800First time in a helicopter as well as dog sledgingFirst time in a helicopter for us both. The staff were so attentive and ensured our safety at all times from start to finish. The ride in the helicopter was amazing over the mountains to the glacier. The dog sledging was an amazing experience, the dogs look happy and happy at their work! The mushers and other staff all look after the dogs well and you can tell they all love their work. Would highly recommend this trip.
- JudyJames100Bucket list moment 👌The entire trip was surreal, fantastic organisation. Staff super efficient our pilot Harley was exceptionally professional and very knowledgeable. He even took our group photographs.
- cannonater00The experience of a lifetime..These people have it dialed in.. it’s not cheap but will give you everything you can dream of and more. The scenery flying in is magnificent but the highlight are the dogs! We are still trying to talk about but it’s hard to put into words.
- Marisa P00DO NOT PASS THIS UPThe cruise ship offered one or the other, but i saw on TripAdvisor that Coastal Helicopters let you do BOTH! Honestly, this was the highlight of the trip for my family. My 10 year old son would have been happy just landing and doing the dog sledding, but the adults wanted to see the blue section of the glacier. This trip did not disappoint. They take the safety very seriously and they have the whole thing extremely systematized so you are never wasting any time. We scheduled early in the day so there was absolutely no worry about getting back to the ship. We had time for dinner in Juneau after. If you can afford to get to Alaska, you need to make room in your budget to do this! It was a once in a lifetime amazing experience.
- lesleyfA2438RZ00What an magical experience!Seeing this magnificent and breathtaking scenery from inside a helicopter has to be one of the most awesome things to do in life. Our pilot was experienced and the perfect guide, taking our group of six across the icefield. I can now check this off my bucket list. A must to do in Juneau and worth the money. There's still so much natural beauty left in our country.

Just reinforcing the other negative reviews that your tour is not only dependent on weather, but the time you book as well. Our 8:30am was cancelled this morning, which fog definitely happens and is understandable. We knew that was a risk. However, when going getting off the ship we noticed they were flying again at 9:00am! We were literally penalized for not originally booking our slot 25min later. When asking for any openings to go later, they were of no help, and only said ‘Sorry - we are full today’ That’s incredibly frustrating to have no options all day only because you booked an earlier tour. So I would caution to booking an early time to give way to fog and have an option B,especially with highly disappointed children after they see other people being loaded into their vans to go on to their flights. It’s the kind of unprofessional service you expect on $25 bus tours, not $2,700 (that we paid months ago)! The tour guides at the port were extremely helpful for other options, unlike Coastal.

We will never forget our helicopter ride and dogsledding experience. We were a large group of 7 (2 middle-aged folks and 5 young adults) and we all loved it! The helicopter ride was pretty short - perfect for newbies. Our pilot Jonah was excellent, a nice smooth ride and landing. We loved the dogsledding experience. Our “musher” Wade was very knowledgeable and so kind to answer all of our questions. We’re all dog people so we were thrilled to interact with the team of dogs. I didn’t realize we’d have time to hold some of the puppies too, and that was such a pleasant surprise! I will recommend all of our friends coming to Juneau to do this. Highly recommend!

Bucket List. Great coordination. Shuttle driver did some explaining on our way to the helipad. The equipment provided -- boots and safety belt/pouch seemed new. Thorough safety reviews. Very friendly people. Fabulous heli ride up over glaciers, reservoir, beautiful scenery; landed at camp to be greeted by more friendly people. They broke us up into groups; we each had a chance to MUSH while actual Iditarod musher oversaw and introduced all the dogs, explained his lifestyle, what he does. Beautiful crisp day, time to play with puppies, greet all the dogs. COuldn't have been more tun. Worth every penny.

Worth every penny. Harvey was our lovely pilot who clearly loves his job and pointed out all the incredible sights on the way to the sled camp. Ashley was our musher and did a wonderful job teaching us about the dogs and the sled

Such an awesome experience to be directly at dog camp on Herbert Glacier. Wade, our musher, with his own dog crew was AMAZING! A truly hands on experience. You won't want to miss this tour. Thanks again to the entire crew and Wade for an unforgettable experience.

This was hands down our favorite excursion and well worth every penny!!! From the views in the helicopter, to the knowledge gained from experienced mushers, we loved every minute of this experience. Weather was perfect, glaciers were gorgeous, and the pups were adorable! Trust us when we say you HAVE to do this excursion when in Juneau!!! Also thank you Wade and all 11 of our dogs (even John), for taking us on a trip we will never forget! We miss your doggos already!

An absolute wonderful way to see the beauty of Alaska in a different way. The helicopter pilots are friendly, as are the staff getting you on and off the helicopters. The dog sledding was fun and out guide, Ashley was great. Only thing that could have been different is a longer ride.

Amazing views, once in a lifetime experience. Whats cooler than taking a helicopter ride and dogsleddding ontop of a glacier! Our guide, Zach or Zacharian was very friendly and knowledgable. My wife and I definitely was glad to have checked this off our bucket list!

Hi my group wanted to reserve for the helicopter tour and dog sledding but we wanted to know how we can do it as a group. We are 10 in total and we would be paying with separate credit cards 4 cards in total. Can you advise how we can do this. It would be for august 20 2019.

In my opinion, the best way is to do as the land it cruises excursion. The helicopters seat including the pilot 5-6. A large group may be broken up for the helicopter flight but reunited at dog sled camp. The company and mushers are very considerate and do their best with in-flight regulations to accommodate group wishes.
I hope this helps.🤓

When going on the helicopter and dog sled experience in Juneau Alaska, will we actually be able to do a dog sled experience on June 12th 2019? Or will the weather be too warm and snow not available
