Well run operation. Gorgeous scenery. Expensive, but worth it. We were packed in pretty tight, but we fit. We went to Herbert Glacier, so had the opportunity to see Mendenhall Glacier on the way, in addition to the beautiful landscape of the Juneau area.

This experience was AWESOME! If there is anything I would recommend spending your time/money on in Juneau, it’s this your. Absolutely breathtaking views and an unforgettable experience. On top of the experience itself, the pilot was so informative and friendly and made the experience that much better. Thank you to the staff for this amazing experience!!

Could not speak more highly of this company. From booking online to our drop off back in downtown Juneau. We initially booked the dog sled tour but unfortunately the camp closed due to snow conditions, we were contacted and given options to cancel, or do a less expensive tour, we choose to do the alternative tour and were refunded the difference very promptly. All correspondence was professional and precise. we were collected at the cruise terminal on time transported to the airfield, weighed in, outfitted and briefed and then we were up up and away soaring over the magnificent scenery. We landed, took a stroll on the glacier our pilot took photos of us, we drank from a glacial stream and enjoyed the silence. I would highly recommend this company and tour as it was definitely the highlight of our Alaskan cruise. Well worth the money.

We would have loved to have taken this tour of a lifetime and were very excited to see there was a company advertising ADA compliance. That changed when I tried to book the tour. First the tour company said service dogs were not allowed per FAA, then the company emailed that "unfortunately they didn't allow service dogs on any of their tours". After pointing out that the web site states they are ADA the response was that they understood the web site was misleading and would work at correcting. It is our company policy that all seats are considered exit row seats and we operate in an open cockpit with exposed controls. Our helicopters stay running during loading and unloading; we have no way to predict how animals will react in and around active helicopters.

The problem with this response is that it took so long to get a response that they obviously had to write the policy first. No handicapped person is allowed to sit in an exit row. (they allow persons that used wheelchairs and a lift to sit in those same rows). Trained service dogs have to be under control in all noise situations and they have every right to remove them if they are not. If a company is going to say they are ADA complaint they can not choose to comply with only the parts of the law.

We appreciate feedback and TripAdvisor reviews, thank you for taking the time. We were very accommodating to your concerns and made the necessary and suggested changes on our website. There were a few notes that were untrue in the review: 1. The FAA was never mentioned, this is a company policy and I was very clear on that. 2. You also stated that it took a long time to respond and you stated it was because we were changing our policy. Not correct. Your email was sent Feb 11th @ 3:59am (Alaska Time) and I responded on Feb 12th @ 1:58pm (Alaska Time). We accommodate wheelchair guests utilizing our ADA lift. These guests are seated behind the pilot who have control over the exit door. We have made changes on our website and are not advertising ADA complaint. We changed our verbiage to accommodate ADA lift assistance only. We also provide information regarding service animals on our FAQ page.

There really are no words to describe how the natural beauty you will see from the air above the Juneau icefield. This was not the tour we booked--we were supposed to go dog sledding, but the camp closed early due to high temps. We were rather disappointed about that; however, this icefield is still truly amazing. I don't know if other companies do this, but to their credit, Coastal gives their pilots the freedom to select their landing site. We ended up on the Norris Glacier. There were three members in my travel party and (other than the pilot) we had the helo to ourselves. When we landed at Norris, it seemed like we were on our own planet. We couldn't see, hear, or otherwise detect any other people. The ice stretched as far as you could see. Our pilot/guide was very knowledgeable and walked us around a bit to point out some features of the glacier. The views would be spectacular either way, but having it all to ourselves was a really unique and memorable experience.

A note if you have mobility concerns: my wife has knee troubles and I was a bit worried about her walking on ice. It was actually much better than the dog sledding on snow (which we did later in the day via a different company). They give you some spiked boot covers and the ice has texture (not like a frozen-over pond or puddle) so there is actually decent traction up there. The steps up into the helo are big, but moving around the glacier isn't bad at all.

We booked this tour through Juneau Shore Tours. We were picked up by minibus at the end of the ship’s jetty and taken to the airfield. The trip caters for all fitness/ability levels.

When we arrived we each had to get on the weighing scales, we had special over shoes fitted, to ensure our grip on the ice, and we were taken through the safety aspects of the trip. We were then told the order we would get on to the helicopter and where we would sit.

Our pilot, Mike, was brilliant. He got the six of us all sorted and we took off towards the Mendenhall Glacier and Mike gave us a commentary as we flew. There was some low cloud, so we followed the line of the coast for a while, then headed inland. Great views all the way.

Wow!! The glacier seemed to appear from nowhere. What a magnificent sight! We flew in over the amazingly blue snout of the glacier and then up along the curving glacial valley. Some of the boulders in the moraine where the size of cars, yet looked so small. As we moved up the valley, the helicopter flew lower and we landed on the glacier. As a friend was in another helicopter, we landed together.

We had plenty of time to walk around where we had landed, guided by our pilots. The sheer scale of the valley and the glacier was stunning. Great that there were so few of us up there. The other helicopters that had left at the same time had landed elsewhere.

Good views of Juneau on the way back, with the cruise ships at the dockside.

A brilliant trip, very friendly staff and pilots, very well organised. Loved it!

My husband and I picked this shore excursion just to walk on a glacier and it did not disappoint. However, you should know that part of that 2.5 hour excursion is getting to the airport and back to the cruise port. Once you get to their office at the airport, it’s another 30 minutes or more before we finally got on the helicopter. The employees didn’t seem very friendly in my opinion but maybe they were having a bad day...who knows. I didn’t even get to sit by my husband on the helicopter and was packed in like sardines in the back with some other people. The helicopter ride to the glacier was only about 15 to 20 minutes and we did get to spend about 30 minutes on the glacier. Our pilot was an excellent guide and we enjoyed the experience, thanks to him! If it wasn’t for our pilot making that 1 hour with him extra special, I would have given this excursion a 3. It was kind of pricey but we did thoroughly enjoy our glacier walk.

The helicopter ride was fun. Our pilot was knowledgeable about the glaciers and the surrounding areas near Juneau. During the flight to the glacier he explained the area which made us appreciate more where we were heading. We were lucky as it was clear day and the views were breathtaking. Since it was a clear day, our pilot took us further up the glacier where we landed. It was awesome that we had the whole glacier to ourselves. There was no one else there. Walking on glacier felt like walking in a freezer. As soon as few clouds came the temperature dropped and it got cold. Wear layers and have a warm hat and gloves with you in case you need them. The tour was a great experience and worth the price. The pick and drop from the main town was convenient. The tour started on time and was well organized. Overall an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Had booked a tour with them for june 13th this year. Met the contact at the dock to only find out our 9:15 departure had been delayed by weather. Understandable but they ensured us they would be flying once the fog cleared. 10:15, same song, put off another hour, 11:15 still waiting and finally at 12:30, they said they would not be flying today even though other sea planes and helicopters were. Since the ship was scheduled to leave a 4:30 we did not have enough time to rebook another excursion so the Juneau stop was a complete bust. On the positive side, the refund was quick. Advice: Find another operator. Trip advisor should drop them from the list of tours they offer.

Helicopter views of the mountain ranges are stunning. Setting down on a glacier and drinking fresh water from a stream is unique. So desolate, beautiful. Unique experience.
