Mendenhall Glacier is incredible. It was sad how much the glacier has retreated just this summer. We were not able to go into any ice caves. We could get close enough to touch the glacier but not where the glacier is blue. Sam and Cheffy were good guides that made the trip fun. A family was almost 30 minutes late to the meeting spot which started the trip late. The van ride to the warehouse is about 30 minutes from downtown. It was nice to get to the warehouse and everything was laid out by name for each participant. The walk in the rainforest was so peaceful. The waterfall is awesome. Overall good experience.

This excursion was the best part of our cruise to Alaska! What an adventure! The team at ABAK are the best, they know what they are doing and you feel safe with them. We got picked up from port and quickly got to their warehouse office where they geared us up in wind-resistant, water-proof gear, including boots, so we felt prepared for any kind of weather, (Luckily it was a bright sunny Alaskan day! Mid-70's!!) A life jacket, we also got water-proof backpacks, snacks, and filled water bottles!

Our guides Dan and Sam shuttled is to a trail that took us to our canoe and after some basics we got in the lake. Paddling in the lake was fine, but don't be surprised if you get winded if you don't usually exercise. 😀 We saw floating icebergs and the Nugget Waterfall up close. It was wonderful!

We then paddled to the Mendenhall Glacier and to see it's wonder up close. It was an easy hike where we were able to see the glaciers incredible colors up close.

Dan was extremely knowledgeable about the glacier and helped us understand the tragic fact that our glaciers are retreating at an alarming rate.

The best part was that we actually were able to step safely onto the glacial ice!! Something that might not be possible in the near future due to our current climate issues. As a capper to great day, Dan and Sam took us to a local donut shop and we had a delicious bacon maple bar!!

If you want a once in a lifetime experience, book this today.

Amazing visit to the Mendenhall Glacier! Our guides, Ben and Dane were very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. We went out as a group of 8, plus the two guides, in one large canoe. The paddling was easy and provided a great view of the glacier. We spent a couple of hours hiking around getting views of the glacier from a few locations. Overall, a wonderful trip!

We had a great trip starting with light rain while paddling to the glacier and clearing skies for our return. Our guide, Don, did a great job. He was quite knowledgeable about area, geography and wildlife. We paddled to the glacier, relaxed, beached at Nugget Falls, and then returned to the starting beachhead. Our group really enjoyed the experience.

The canoes are very large and quite stable. The paddling is relatively easy as the guide assists and steers the canoe. The outfitter provides optional rain gear. There are bathrooms at the start/end point.

Colt and Libby were both informative, energetic, friendly, and we felt safe with their guidance. The equipment was clean, fit well, and maintained. Plenty of snacks and water provided and eaten right by the glacier. The weather was perfect, overcast but dry and chilly bringing out the blues in the glacier. The gear-up warehouse has clean bathrooms a definite plus. This is the second time going and ready for a third.

Thank you for your review! The cloudy days can be a littler chillier, but it definitely helps the blues of the glacier pop out. Excited for you to join us a third time around!

The canoe trip was excellent. Trent and Don were wonderful guides, gave us lots of interesting facts, pointed out eagles, arctic terns and mountain goats. We were able to get close to the glacier and waterfall and got some great pictures!

Great views of the glacier and waterfall. Our canoe captain, Dalton, was great! Our bus driver Libby was a wealth of information and really made the commute to and from the ship very enjoyable.

This experience was amazing. One of the first in the 2022 season to go on the glacier and trek around. The crew was so nice and helpful. Felt safe the entire time. 10/10 would recommend and do this experience again.
