Landen Chau was a wonderful guide. He paddled a double kayak with my 22 year old daughter who has Down Syndrome. He treated her with genuine respect and humor, and she thoroughly enjoyed herself. He made it possible for me also to relax and enjoy myself, knowing she was in good hands.

Did Kayaking with guide, Emily, in a small group May 12. This was an easy kayak trip. We saw a couple of bald eagles, seals and possibly a bear (it was a long-g-g-g-g way off). I felt 100% safe and well outfitted. The company provided all you needed. The apple cider at the end of the trip was really bad - so light on the cider it was like hot water but the cheese and meat tray was welcome.

Thank you for sharing that. If you think it was a bear, the probability is high that it was a bear. Glad you enjoyed the trip, sorry about the cider. Dale E Smith Director of Sales & Marketing

Hi Kenneth from Kentucky here. Went on sea kayaking tour on July 19th 2018 at 1:30 pm with Timmy from Ohio. GREATEST TOUR GUIDE EVER. Timmy was very informative about the entire area and even did Alaska trivia to make it even more fun. The man seriously deserves a promotion because he was by far the best guide I’ve ever had and I’ve been on a lot of excursions. Timmy pulled out amazing fact after amazing fact and even took a superb photo of me and my friend while on the tour. Everyone should request Timmy as their guide for future tours and tip him a ton!!!

Booked as an excursion from Princess Cruises. I was a little worried this could be difficult for me but it was not. The guide , Andre , was in formative and very skille at the end when you are having your snake. So bring cash or a credit card.

Had a great time paddling with a view of Mendenhall Glacier. Our guide Ben was very informative and kept us all safe.
We saw a raft of Sea Lions, lots of seals and a couple of bald eagles. The seals and sea lions came quite close. Great tour. Recommended.

My impression was that this was to be a true glacier view experience. You can barely see the glacier from the shore, and even less once you are at water level in the kayak. This is more of a sea animal kayak encounter, with a hint of glacier way off in the distance, like looking at a snow capped mountain from sea level.

Also, the equipment needs to be better cared for. The life jackets were wet, and smelled badly, and the provided boots, even worse. I have participated in other excursions, where the equipment was in way better shape. This company needs to better describe the excursion, and take better care of the equipment.

Sorry, you were disappointed. My house is by the kayak launch so I am not sure what you mean by you could barely see the glacier? You are 8 miles from the face of the glacier. The glacier rises up to over 5500 feet in elevation. It is very visible unless it is covered by clouds or fog. Thanks for informing me about the equipment. This is the first I have heard that. I will make sure and address the issue with the team.

Took the mendenhall glacier view sea kayaking excursion as a port excursion while on our recent Alaskan cruise. The kayaking moved at a snails pace through a inlet that was not near the glacier. It’s true you can see it but are really not close at all and felt the pictures on the website are deceiving. Saw one eagle and spent an enormous amount of time in the kayak looking at it before rowing at a very slow pace to an area where seals are sometimes spotted. Luckily I brought binoculars or I would not have seen anything. Save your money. Not worth the money being charged.

Sorry, the tour did not meet your expectations. You are approximately 8 miles from the glacier on this tour. I wish we could control wildlife but they are unpredictable.

Gabe was our guide and he was great! We had adults from age 70 to kids age 9 and 12 and everyone had a great time! It was educational and beautiful! The one thing I would say is the company provided boots and no one knew they would be provided- so some people had bought water shoes- which was not needed- save your money. Other then that, good price for a cruise excursion and well worth the money. Other excursions were hundreds of dollars so this was a great option for people looking to get a great outing for a reasonable price!

First off, we were a little disappointed from the title of the tour that our view of the glacier was from about 15 miles away. You can see the glacier fine, but not close up. However, the wildlife we saw on this trip exceeded our expectations. We were close up to many bald eagles and many harbor seals, some of which were within 30 feet of our kayaks. That was really cool! Our guide was pretty good, nothing special but fine. If you go, they have a place you can keep your bags (with your shoes) while you are out on the kayak. You will be wearing a kayak bib and not have access to your pockets while kayaking, so consider ahead of time how you want to have access to your camera (I would recommend a neck strap). You’ll be on the water a couple hours or so. The snack afterward is pretty minimal: crackers and some spread options.

We were fortunate to get exceptional weather for this excursion. The views of the Glacier were fantastic and you could see a second glacier higher up too. The guide was very professional and explained things well. I was nervous, but once we were in and moving it was a breeze. We got to see an eagle and a seal, but other than that no wildlife. The gear was high quality - note that they give you boots and a splash skirt so you really don't get wet unless you intentionally put your arms in the water. There are also porta-potties at the place where you launch in if you need them. The snack wasn't much so I'd bring snacks along if I went in the future. Overall, a great excursion.
