I recommend this tour. Our guides were knowledgeable and helpful. It was a beautiful trip. The lake was lovely. They take you for a great view of the glacier and you walk up to the falls.

Our guide was great. The views are amazing. You walk to the waterfall. They offered snacks twice. It was rainy and cold but fantastic none the less. The offer full rain gear and boots.

Amazing trip and all boxes ticked
We went out on the North Star with the fantastic captain Melissa and Hannah- a marine expert and had an amazing trip seeing orcas ,many humpbacks both in the water, breaching and some superb tail/fluke views . we also saw sea lions close to the boat along with a harbour porpoise. The bus transfers were great with interesting commentary. The salmon bake was excellent with great salmon and a great selection of other food and hot and cold drinks plus beer/ wine if required. The site was also interesting with the salmon creek and waterfall and old mining paraphanalia- a great trip which we thoroughly recommend.

      You're whale-come
Savannah was our naturalist & Terry was our captain! Very friendly & knowledgeable folk. Thankfully we were able to see a handful of whales but I really liked how mindful they were of the whales' personal spaces. We were given lots of chances to see the whales fairly close & the captain was receptive when passengers sighted/gave directions to whale sightings. I took this trip with my dad who ambulates with a cane (as the left side of his body's partially paralyzed) and Savannah was very kind & accomodating, making sure my family had a solid experience. Also don't listen to that negative salmon bake review, the food was so good we ended being the last to board the cruiseship.

      You will see whales!!!
We had a great experience! Saw many whales on the trip. Only complaint is we thought the vessel would have more outdoor viewing area based off the NCL booking brochure.

Witty and snarky talent and a warm lunch
It was entertaining and had some history which I liked. Maybe better for kids. The talent was fun and never left character so kudos for that. The snark, wit and banter was funny. The lunch was pretty good. The salads had way too much dressing but the rest was warm and filling in the cold. I liked the random tents and getting an idea of what life may have been like then. Everyone was very pleasant and nice. I did get gold from the panning though I'm not even sure if it real or not. Do I keep it?!?! It was an eclectic and kitschy kind of experience.

      Highly recommend for whale watching!
Shoutout to Captain Jackie and Naturalist Savannah for a spectacular time! They were extremely knowledgeable on whales, orcas, boats, and Juneau. During our almost 3 hour boat ride, we saw humpback whales, orcas, and sea lions. We learned a ton of information and had a blast doing it! Highly recommend this tour with these guides!

      Whale watching!
Captain Jackie and Megan were fantastic. We saw so many whales including one that breached 3 times, sea lions, and a rare sea otter sighting. They were very knowledgeable in their facts and did a great job seeking out wildlife. We would highly recommend!

      Be ready to row
Beautiful views of a glacier and waterfall. There is a small beach where you can disembark and get a bit closer to the gorgeous waterfall. Try drinking the water! It was fresh, cold, and tasted so much better than anything you can get in the lower 48 states. Our van driver was David and he really made the trip to and from the lake a lot of fun. He was knowledgeable and funny. We learned a lot about the local history, and his presentation was lively. Our canoe guide was Joel. He was also very knowledgeable and kept the canoe ride interesting. He gave us plenty of time to take photos! We learned a lot about the lake, glacier, and surrounding nature from him. You could tell both of these young men enjoy their job. Please be sure you are able to row a canoe and get in and out of it with little or no help.

      Amazing jeep & canoe safari
This was by far the best trip that we have done. Keegan was our guide & he was absolutely fantastic! This was my first time driving a left hand side vehicle so Keegan put our jeep behind his, very reassuring. You got to spend loads of time driving the Jeep & there were plenty of opportunities to change driver. The views & scenery were amazing, we did have extremely good weather. Keegan gave us loads of stops to take pictures. We then went & got onto the canoe. The lake was absolutely stunning, so beautiful & peaceful. Rowed across the lake where we were greeted with salmon pate, bread, crackers, hot chocolate & the most delicious clam chowder. We then took a short stroll through the forest. Rowed back to where we started & got on the coach back to the cruise ship. Excellent trip & well worth the money.

      Wonderful adventure
This was my favorite excursion. Our tour guide Keegan was AMAZING. He had many insights into the culture and nature facts. The landing was awesome. They fed us some salmon dip and chowder. Went on a little nature walk. Everything was wonderful and Keegan just made it so much better.

This was a lovely outdoor venue with a few hundred people where they were cooking salmon on a huge grill and had a buffet of other items. They had music playing and it was nice. The food was not great (salmon had no seasoning at all but the other food on the buffet was fine. We didn’t expect it to be great when they’re feeding so many people and this was the third event on our excursion day. When we arrived at the Salmon Bake, our bus driver pointed to a spot across the parking lot and told us that there would be busses waiting there to take us back to the ship whenever we wanted to go.

After an hour or so, we walked towards the parking lot. Another bus was pulling up as we were leaving and as we walked to the parking lot, the driver (Judson) bounded out of his bus and started screaming at us. He used the f-bomb every other word and screamed at us that we were trying to cut in line (what line?), calling us all kinds of names – completely out of control. He got back in his bus and closed the door. My friend knocked on the door and he started screaming the f bomb at the top of his lungs over and over. He then moved the bus to the parking area where he got out and started screaming at us again – telling us to “take a f*g cab” back to the ship. He was completely out of control and seriously out of line. My husband called the Salmon Bake and talked to who I think might have been the owner, Bridget, or at least the manager. She asked if we were still there, and that she would be right over to talk to us. She never came. When my husband tried to reach back out to her via text, she had blocked his number. It was an outrageous and completely unacceptable situation and I'm sure it doesn't happen to everyone, but I wouldn't want an employee like that representing my business. They didn't seem to care. I ended up giving two stars for the ambience of the location.

Unfortunately, food was less than mediocre. Cold potato casserole that was hard, salmon was not flavorful even with sauce on it. VERY DISAPPOINTED in this. Ribs were okay. Only part of this excursion that was good was the waterfall at the end of a trail with some mining equipment. I would have rather done something else. Next time in Juneau I will pass this up. Price definitely did NOT match the experience.
The tour guide (bus driver) was very very nice though.

The best salmon I ever ate. Went as part of an excursion. The Buffett was outstanding, well priced. The staff was pleasant and eager to help. The grilled salmon was , without a doubt, the best I ever had. It was sprinkling, but it did not hamper the experience. Great job!

I enjoyed the Salmon Bake immensely!!! It was one of the highlights of my trip. Right when the bus pulls up, the ambiance is quaint and beautiful. It’s in the forest with lights and tents and two roaring fires for roasting marshmallows. The salmon is the best salmon I’ve ever eaten and the glaze is amazing. All of the food was delicious and plentiful. We saw the salmon spawning in the roaring river. This is a great experience. I will go here every time I come to Juneau. Well worth the time and money. Even our bus driver was informative, fun and nice. Highly recommended!

AMAZING! If you visit Juneau, I highly recommend a visit. The hospitality, food and atmosphere is top notch. There is a beautiful water fall just a short walk from the eating area. We absolutely loved it and will return. Thank You.

This was our second time visiting. There is a lot of food. The salmon is very tasty, prepared on an open grill. Blueberry cake with powdered sugar frosting was disappointing as it was the only dessert offered. It is all serve yourself buffet style with alcohol for purchase. The grounds are beautiful to stroll. Many salmon spawning in the creek. Tourist come by the bus load!!

The experience overall was fine. The food was not what I expected. The salmon was good but the other foods were not to my taste. Everything was very dry and not very flavorful. They only had one dessert, blueberry cake and I do not care for blueberries. They did have marshmallows to roast but nothing to make them into s'mores. The waterfall was nice and the bus driver was nice and offered a lot of helpful tips.

For the amount I paid, it was a straight drive to the site. The dinner was overated, as the salmon was pretty bland. There was no finese in the way the food was laid out and the stafff were unsmiling and not very friendly. There was no briefing by the driver as to what we could do there. The waterfall and old mininbg site was nothing exceptional. and the music...a laid back musician who was playing his kind of music and not music to fit in with the age group of the majority. He probably could not find employment elsewhere. Overall, a diappointing experience. Would never go there again. The reception at the wharf was also an unfriendly one.

Sorry, we didn't meet your expectation. It is an outdoor buffet-style restaurant. I do apologize for not being given a greeting and instruction on the bus. That is something our team is supposed to do. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

We enjoyed a great salmon meal cooked over a wood fire, great sides, great seating, friendly staff, see spawning salmon and an abandoned gold mine. Oh and a water fall.
