Papa Turtle gave us the most incredible experience with turtles! He was very knowledgeable, patient and made us feel really safe the whole time. We were lucky enough to have him to ourselves and he knew exactly where to find the turtles for us. Photos were included in the price and he even took some great shots of us with flower crowns on before we set off. Highly recommend this tour!!! 10 out of 10!!

Taji and Jack were awesome! Best experience ever! The scooters were so good and easy to use. Would totally recommend to anyone who is thinking about doing it. The turtles are so beautiful. Taji and Jack explained everything, and were so helpful. They also take heaps of photos of your experience.

We are 2 couples in 60s & 70s and had a great experience with Papa Turtle Tours. Phil was very attentive to both our safety and wellbeing the whole time we were in the water. He consistently checked that we were ok and kept us well informed on which direction we were going to next and providing information on what we were seeing. Phil and Papa Turtle were both very aware and concious of the preserving the environment and ensuring that we had minimal impact on our surroundings. Though we haven‘t seen photos, we have a fantastic trip of turtle with Papa Turtle. Papa Turtle is a great nice man. He encouraged and took care of my little daughter all of the process. With his help, we experienced snorkeling in the deep sea and saw turtles, eagle rays, jellyfish, moray eels and a variety of colorful fish. Everything is absolutely beautiful! The trip leaves us the most desirable memories that will last in our lifetime. Thank you，Papa Turtle！

This tour was OKAY. I did forget to go when booked so I appreciate them fitting us in a couple days later. Underwater photography was great. Papa Turtle was not friendly and my husband had issues with his mask fitting snug on his mustache and papa seemed too inconvenienced to care. Won’t be booking with him again, though his assistants were good.

We had the best experience with papa turtles, my 10 year old daughter was helped by papa overcoming the initial fear of the snorkel, and we got so close to the turtles it was absolutely amazing a must do!

25th Anniversary trip to South Pacific - we booked the private turtle tour with pictures in Rarotonga with Charlotte Piho. From my first email Charlotte was very responsive, warm and welcoming! Papa Turtle guided us on an excellent underwater tour while taking many pictures. We had a great day with Papa T. Even better were the pictures with Charlotte's award winning magic touch! The tour and guides were awesome. However we never received all of our photos! And when requesting a refund we were ignored. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. There were 10+ of us who went on the tour, and paid full price eaxh. For only half of us to receive our photos!!

This tour is 1000X worth it! We were a little sceptical at first with the random meeting location and the fact that the tour takes place just off the beach – no boats or anything included – but once we got in the water, we realised that it meant that we would have more time in the water and less time fluffing around. The turtles and rays were phenomenal to see and we felt so looked after – particularly because we were going out while the current was strong. Pappa Turtle and his amazing helper Alana were constantly checking in with us to make sure we were okay while the currents were strong and we always felt super safe. We had the photos airdropped to us before we left and the edited photos that night and all of them were phenomenal! Alana was such a delight to swim with and she really knows how to take photos with the right angles. We would highly recommend this tour!!

The reviews of all these turtle tours are quite mixed up. We went with Papa Turtle whose reviews seem to be mixed with other operators for some reason. At $75 per person it was half the price of many offerings. The facilities on land are very basic - just a shack to keep your stuff dry and a toilet. The snorkels, masks and wetsuits are a little disorganised but Papa managed to get everyone kitted out. There were 13 people on our trip, but the one after just had 2. 13 did not feel overcrowded. We particularly avoided tours with a photographer as we have often paid in the past and been a bit disappointed and we just wanted to focus on looking at the wildlife. The current was not at all strong and fine for any reasonably competent swimmer. At the end of the tour Papa had us all sitting on SUPs and towed us back to shore. We saw so many green turtles, some of them came up very close, and quite a few fish too but sadly no rays. It was a very enjoyable snorkel and I would 100% recommend it.

Papa Turtle gave us a truly magical snorkeling experience with the Turtles and Diamond rays. Very personalised tour with a guide who gently shared his knowledge and passion for all of the islands marine ecology. Can’t recommend this tour highly enough, with either Papa Turtle or Charlotte and staff- you’ll love it

We booked family photos with Charlotte Piho photography while our family was visiting the island. We absolutely loved the photos. Charlotte was amazing to deal with and so responsive. Our photos were through far quicker than we expected and quality was incredible. Highly recommend family photos with the beautiful backdrop of Rarotonga with this incredible photographer. You won’t be disappointed!

When we first came across "Papa Turtle" at the Muri market stalls we thought he was quite lovely. He had quite a line up of people he was giving his sales pitch to..one after the other. When it was our turn he explained that he would love to throw in some "extra" photos because we were newly weds, as long as he could use some as advertising.. which of course we were excited about! Turned up on the day, things were a little disorganized and Papa Turtle was quite a different person. We did head out and swim with the turtles. It was a little annoying being out there in the same spot with at least two or three other competing businesses, and swimmers were all bumping into each other.. Anyhow, after maybe 45 min or so we were heading back in..I asked him when he was going to take photos. He told me he left his camera at home! Yet when I overheard an older couple in their 70's ask him if there were photos, he told the woman that he couldn't take any because she was so busy watching a turtle that she didn't notice it was slowly taking her out towards the dangerous reef. So which was it Papa Turtle? You couldn't take photos because you were busy watching one of your customers? Or you left your camera at home?

Papa Turtle Tour was fabulous. Small group, only 9 people. Papa is an experienced and knowledgeable guide focused on safety. We saw turtles both sitting on the bottom and swimming beside us, as well as some coral and colourful fish. However there was a strong current so I recommend going with an experienced guide like Papa. We paid $70 which didn't include photos, but took our own.
